My favorite line in Rush Hour with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker is When Chris Tucker’s character looks at Jackie Chan and says “Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth”?
Its a great question… why? Because communication is primarily the responsibility of the listener.
Most of the times the persons communicating is doing the best they can to communicate… is it good? Maybe not, but it is the way they know best… is it healthy? Maybe not, but its the only way maybe that has been modeled to them.
So rather waste time talking about communication lets take a minute to talk about listening.
point one: Where is the relationship at?
Ever want to say something to someone but you fear their reaction?
Communication without a healthy relationship is like juggling grenades with the pins out… you just can’t take a chance letting go.
If you want to work on listening, work first on your relationship with the person… and take a hard look at yourself in that relationship as well.
Second: Enter their world.
What is it like to be them approaching you?
The little girl who climbs up on her Daddy’s lap and says Daddy you are handsome…. He is so charmed by his little girl. Then she says, and Im grettal… lets play.
What exactly do I mean? Validate their feelings as they communicate. I hate when parents are listening to their kids and say things like “its not the end of the world… you are missing the point- to them it feels like the end of the world.
Pretty soon they will no longer feel safe to talk to you.
Finally: Listening is learned.
When Coke a cola first introduced their product in China… they had massive world wide success- China was the next market to monopolize. they simply put the chines characters that sounded out the word Coke a cola on the bottles… but what it meant in Mandarin was “Bite the wax tadpole”. Massive failure.
So they went back to the Chinese experts and shoppers and asked questions and learned, they did tons of research to help communicate their product.
How much time do you spend researching the best way to listen to your spouse? Kids? Boss? Pastor? Parents?
The truth is, you learned from your parents… and the scary news is that your kids will learn from you.

Broken expectations - you expected more of yourself. Do people know what you expect. Are your expectations logical or rational. Accept the disappointment. Change your mindset to seeking solutions.
Realize disappointment is not there to destroy you but rather to teach you.
Resentment
Resentment is the warm pie filling of
Anxiety
Frustration
Failure
Depression
Resentment comes from a form of these, but with the twist of betrayal. HOW COULD THAT PERSON DO THAT TO YOU…

Fear of Man
The fear of man creates an unusual appetite for the approval of man.
Love casts out all fear, Gods love creates a freedom in us to be who we were meant to be, say what we want to say, do what we want to do, dress the way we want to dress etc…
Growing up I had such a solid sense of my parents love for me there was no such thing as peer pressure. My parents were cool, and they loved me unconditionally, hugged me, told me, showed me… I could careless - I honestly couldn’t give a flying squirrels nut who didn’t like me or what you thought of me - I STILL DON’T BUT NOW IT IS BECAUSE I KNOW HOW MUCH GOD LOVES ME.
**Now thats freedom!
That is what we should all shoot for.
Eph. 3:16-21 Gods unfathomable love for us… allows his power to work greater thru us and freedom to be ourselves.
The next secret ingredient against fear is this…
FEAR HATES… HATES… HATES ACTION!
If you take steps toward what you are afraid of, it silences the fear in your head- and it empowers you to even go further than you thought! It is the steroid to your self esteem problems.
Learn these two lessons now:
First - When you die God is not going to ask you why you didn’t pander to more peoples opinions and judgements… he’s not going to ask you why you were not more like some other person… he is going to ask you why you were not like the person He created YOU to be.
Secondly - you will never resolve every problem, you will never resolve every differing opinion, you will never resolve every pain or obstacle. They are endless. So you must choose to be you above these and choose to be happy in spite of these.
Follow God no matter what… sounds simple until you truly study your motives and actions in real time!

Innovators always seem to have a special superpower that allows them to see things that no one else does… But their real secret power is that they are risk takers. But understand God is the ultimate innovator and risk taker… yes it may be in our DNA… but God is the source of our DNA.
Think of all the creative ways God had his will performed and his theology is explained. A whale, foxes with tails on fire, A meteor, A blind man, A father, a whore, a talking serpent, rags that heal people, a staff, A mother hen, a lion, a goat, sheep, the sand, Statues of salt, the stars… on and on God is creative and innovative.
All of these were ways he made himself known to mankind.
My question is why do we limit ourselves to how we can serve God.
We pray, read, attend church, witness and maybe get involved in a ministry at church….
Thats it?
Look there are no rules in the ways we can serve God… i.e. we can pray for innovative ideas.
Here are just a couple I can think of…
Every time you pray pull out a small blank business card and write out a prayer or spiritual blessing, put it in your pocket and have a few of them. When God says give it to someone you do- even if you don’t know them.
Ask God when you go to the store what you should buy and drive around your neighborhood until God tells you which house to drop it off at… trust me you will start a conversation.
Grab a couple of scripture verses, create a picture to post them and send them out via airdrop to anyone on the bus, or in your office who wants to grab it.
Do you create stuff? Pray over your goods and then give some away for free to people God tells you to.
Grow some stuff in your garden and pray over it and ask God what to do with it. Maybe people eat it and are healed.
Pack up clothes you don’t use and pray over them, put bible verses in the pockets and go pray over who to give them too… no don’t just drop them off at a thrift store… make it a mission.
Look there are a million ways to do this…
I have a friend who is a chiropractor who prays over his patients as he is adjusting them. He has had many people tell him there is something healing about his hands that goes beyond just snapping a few vertebra in and out.
Sing a song and post it on FB etc…
Paint or draw a picture and pray over it and give it to someone
Don’t limit God. Let him innovate how you serve him… and take a risk and do it.
You being used by God is not limited to you simply wanting it… you must be willing to try something about it. don’t limit yourself, don’t limit god… don’t limit what you can do for God and don’t limit how you can be used by God.

The Israeli minister of defense said 3 days ago that they are preparing for war. and then said if they go to war with Iran that most likely Russia and Turkey will counter attack on the side of Iran. This is spoken about in Ezekiel as the battle of Gog and Magog. Very striking that this is so closely tied into the end times. Prophetically spoken a few thousand years ago and now taking place before our eyes.
Genesis 18:12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
Sarah laughs… at Gods promise and then again at the angels that speak of this miraculous child…
Why does she laugh?
Does she laugh because of Abrahams lifestyle… he has handed her over to rulers in the past 25 years a few times saying she was his sister… So maybe she is thinking my Husband who would rather toss me out to the sharks is going to get me pregnant?
OR
Is is because she is past child bearing age… she no longer has her menstrual cycle and it seems absurd.
OR
She laughs because she knows that Abraham is enamored by Hagar and the son she has bore for him.
OR
She laughs thinking that her husband who is even older than her could now perform in bed and maybe even the thought of any type of passion is simply silly.
OR
Maybe she laughs simply because a child at this point is absolutely ridiculous
OR
She laughs at the thought of her womb which has been closed for years… could possibly be fertile ground
But why ask why?
Sarah laughed… and I guess I can’t really blame her given the circumstances… but what about Abraham- NOW HERE IS THE REAL STORY!
Romans 4:20-21 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Abraham never doubted… you say but he had sex with his servant to get a son… but that was because Sarah pestered him to do it. She knew Abraham wanted a son, she knew time was ticking away and Abe was probably not going to be having to many more high fives in the bedroom. She asked him to do it. He did it not because he did not believe God was not going to come through, but rather to shut up Sarah.
How did he continue to believe after all these years? I guess the same way he believed when God told him to take his only son Isaac up on the Mountain and sacrifice him… believing well God will either bring him back to life or again get Sarah pregnant again.
HE HAD FAITH BECAUSE IT WAS A PROMISE FROM GOD.
His faith in Gods promise strengthened him.
And he gave God the glory before it ever came to pass.
Lets dumb it down in case you missed the point.
While Sarah was laughing
Abe was believing in Gods word
Trusted his word and was strengthened by trusting
Bragged to God about God and what would happen to God - and then gave him praise before it ever happened.
Thats the formula for faithful living!

Erosion… always thought of in a bad way.
Its power is that it goes unnoticed until it’s too late. We had a bridge in Minneapolis a few years ago collapse, not because it was built wrong… but because of erosion.
It’s subtle, its consistent and it does not track itself by emotions or feelings or circumstances… it will produce results.
but what if erosion had a positive side. So you are broke and you don’t have any money for retirement…
Try eroding your debt and your lack by using the same techniques as erosion.
Subtle… every week take out your phone and buy $10 of Crypto and $10 of a stock and put $10 in a savings account to later drop into a CD - You don’t talk about it, you just quietly do it.
Consistent… you do it every week, you put it on your calendar, you put up a sticky note, you have someone ask you weekly how you are doing.
Free of emotions or circumstances… if you don’t have the money then cut something out to have the money… if there is nothing to cut out get an extra part time job to put the money into your erosion project… regardless it will happen no matter what outside forces tell you.
It’s proven over time. I invested a tiny sum of money into crypto… its now sitting at around $130k I never even looked at it until a few years later… wow.
Every month I put a set amount into my stock portfolio… it does not matter how my stocks go… up or down. I picked relatively safe long term stocks… and yes I have an investor to help me.

Here is the danger in neglecting the process… it does not start as habitual. One of my favorite trainers Just Transgrud of JT strength and conditioning - follow him on twitter and instagram…
he had a great point today on his post… he said its not that Thanksgiving can ruin your diet or even missing a day of training will mess you up… he said the problem is you start to lie to yourself… you say, well Im going to eat like a pig on Thursday so its not a big deal if break my diet today, and tomorrow and the day after… Im going to miss my work out Thursday due to TG, so I will take Wednesday off as well and friday… and then Monday morning rolls around and you find it harder and harder to do the right thing… Erosion.
it works on both ends.
Make small deposits today for God. Prayer, scripture, worship, sharing a kind word… and then do it every day.
My biggest influence when it came to training was a man by the name of Mike Morgan… huge dude. When I told him why I missed a training day, he looked at me - almost glaring and said “kid if one excuse will work, any excuse will work.” I can say I have just about never missed a day since then… truth!
And so today… never miss a day with God… let your bad habits erode as you set in new habits and watch them erode even more your other bad habits - I hope you didn’t miss that.

If he didn’t call you that in scripture… don’t answer to that voice…. it’s not him.
What does that mean really… practically? We should refuse to have anything to do with any words coming out of our mouth that do not line up with scripture.
We must realize we will never live beyond our own confessions… what are mouth says is where we are headed. What we think is our destiny… So what are you saying and what are you thinking?
do you allow what you see, what you feel and what others tell you to manifest in your head and in your speech? You are allowing satan to set up camp in your life… stop it.
Remember “whatever a man thinketh… he’s right!”
What does 1 Peter4:11 say “if any man speak, let I’m speak as the oracles of God. - in english… if you speak only speak what God says about you.
What does Phil. 4:8 the HS says finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, pure, lovely, of good report, if there is anything of virtue, anything of praise… let only these things be on your mind.
2 Cor. 10:4, 5
the HS says the weapons of our warfare are mighty, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. We are to cast down imaginations (reasons and thoughts) and give the word of God its place in our minds and on our lips.
If our words or thoughts do not line up to his word, we capture them and aline them up with scripture.
How do we transform our lives mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, relationally, socially and spiritually? By renewing our minds.
Romans 12:1-2 PRESENT your bodies as a living sacrifice, be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that is good and acceptable, and the perfect will of God.
What is this saying? Our mind -our mouth -what we believe and confess - rules us! Rules us to the point of changing us.
We transform by renewing… rearranging our thoughts to Gods word.
Do not allow your mind to motor your mouth and destroy who God says you are, what he says you can do and what he has planned for you.

King Xerxes - A younger Clint Eastwood

Haman - sniveling arrogant and insecure
Mordacai - an older Mel Gibson
Esther - Smok’n
King throws a 180 day celebration ending in a week long banquet. Vashti won’t come and show off.
The King scrubs her… she’s out.
His advisors go on a spree looking for the best looking virgins in the kingdom. Esther is one of them… but she is already ahead of the game. Everyone is taken by her beauty.
The kings starts looking at virgins every night… if he is pleased with you he will ask you back the next night to play backgammon… uhm… probably not.
He asks no one back until its Esthers turn… The King is slain, smitten and inebriated by her beauty. Thats it, she is the queen.
Now Her uncle mordachai hears about a plot to kill the king and he tells Esther, She tells the king and he investigates and finds out its true. He kills the 2 plotting against him and thanks Esther and Mordachai.
Now in time King X appoints Haman as his highest advisor. Haman is an ass… he loves the spotlight and insists that everyone bow to him when they are in his presence… But mordachai will not bow… he’s not impressed, he could careless and will only bow to the Lord. And Haman has it out for him… in fact for all the jews so he trumps up a plan for the king to kill this little sect of people by allowing their enemies to kill them and take the land and the little they had. It is set in stone.
But Mordachai finds out and tells Queen Esther… she knows she cannot approach the king unless he is willing to summon her or it could cost her her life.
But he says such a time is this - this is why you are here.
IN THE MEAN TIME… Haman builds a 70 foot gallows to hang Mordachi from…
But that night the King has a bad dream and can’t sleep. he tells one of his servants to bring the record book or history to him. As he reads it he again reads where it was recorded that Mordachi saved his life and he realizes he did not reward him. So the next morning he asks Haman what should I do to honor and man I greatly admire and want to honor. Haman says “oh put him in your robe with a crown on one of your horses and have a prince lead the horse with the man on it and shout this is what the King does to honor a great man whom he admires.
King X says… great. get mordachi and do that….oh and you be the one to lead him and shout out this is what the king does to honor a great man whom he admires.
Haman is sick with envy and hatred.
So during this time esther has been throwing her own party for the king… and he is whipped. He tells Esther I will give you any thin you want up to half of my kingdom… she finally says… all I want is for my people to not be murrdered by this treacherous plan… the king realized it was Haman who had tricked him and he storms out of the party - now Haman is there at the party and he is scared out of his mind. He throws himself at Esther begging her to spare his life… but he is doing it in such a way that it looks like He is trying to molest her and the king walks back Dum Dum DUM dUUUUUUUUM
Haman gets hanged at his own gallows. The king can’t change his verdict to kill the jews but he does tell the jews they can defend themselves with weapons… Turns out the jews Kill all their enemies, gain land, wealth and respect… and Mordachai ends up serving the king in great honor for years to come.
God sees where you are at - just keep honoring him and realize you are were you are at for a reason- and in due season you will be rewarded.
