Abishai: commander and most honored of the mighty men. He killed 300 men and the son of a giant.
Benaiah: Captain of Davids guard, he killed 2 of the Moabite heroes, and Egyptian giant, a lion and he helped David secure the throne.
Jashobeam: chief of the captains and he killed 800 men at once.
Eleazar: fought alone with David until his hand froze to the sword.
Shammah: he ended a plot of barley from an entire camp of Philistines.
Qualifications for /Davids might men.
300 who followed him, but 37 that really stood out as the elite fighting force.
Down and out, running from the authority, broke, no skills.
What made them mighty men?
Believe in a vision or calling (they believed David would be King and was innocent and had integrity)
willing to risk their life. If you are going to follow David you are saying you are against the King of Israel. You now are wanted dead or alive.
Willing to be under authority.
Willing to be trained.
Willing to step into battle regardless of the outcome or the situation. 300 vs. the whole army of Israel… Ballsy!
They served a greater purpose.

Look at dem bones!

37 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”
4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.
11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”
This is a prophetic word spoken to Israel and I don’t want to stretch the meaning or proof text this - but I do think there are things that we can glean from it.
First off, you may have things in your life that seem to have fallen apart and are dead…
hopes, dreams, jobs, relationships, business plans, health,
and it may seem in fact that these areas of your life are dried up…
You know sometimes in life we have things that we just don’t realize until much time has passed that “hey its dead, there is no life in this” - that is a great place to be, because God works in the dead spaces in our life when we give them to him.
What does it take to have a miracle? an impossibility… or a dead spot if you will.
Why does he bring dead things back to life? He says why… so that you know that I am God and in the chapter previous it is also stated so the world knows he is God. God loves to show off in our dead places. When you can’t take any credit, but to say “only God could do that”!
We also see that even when things come together, a plan a business a relationship an opportunity -whatever it is… without the Breath of Life- the breath of God in it, its still dead. How many of you have seen a corpse? Still has the skin, tendons, lungs, muscles, bones etc… but no life because it does not have the breath of life in it.
WHEN GOD BREATHS ON SOMETHING… THINGS HAPPEN. BUT EVEN IF YOU HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER AND GOD HAS NOT BREATHED LIFE INTO IT… IT WILL LAY DEAD FOREVER.
v. 9 come four winds and breath on these bones…?
The four winds are referred to in the context of extraordinary events or situations as foreseen by prophets, made known to select persons by God in the form of visions, or revealed by Jesus Himself to His disciples.
The four winds are sometimes associated with the four corners of the earth or the four quarters of heaven.
The power of the four winds of the Bible is tremendous, both figuratively and practically. It can churn the great sea, it can uproot and scatter powerful empires (Daniel 7:2, 8:8, 11:4, Zechariah 2:6). The combined power of the four winds of heaven was to be deployed against the nation of Elam, to scatter the people in all directions (Jeremiah 49:36).
On the contrary, in another situation of a positive nature, the four winds were called upon to gather together and breathe life into the slain so that they may live (Ezekiel 37:9). But of greater significance is the reference to the four winds in the events that would occur when the Son of Man returns in His glory (Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:27). He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other, or from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
- The powerful NORTHERN wind (accompanied by lightning) that brings rain, growth, and increase,
- The warm wind from the SOUTH that brings peace, quiet, healing, and comfort,
- The strong and dry EASTERN wind that scorches, devastates, and separates, and
- The wind from the WEST that drives off the devourer and brings relief and the promise of ‘rain’ of blessing and transformation.
What is the point? You can speak Gods word over your life, over your dead spots and ask God to send his powerful breath of life, his powerful wind of life into your situation. Wether it is completely dead and strewn around in piles of dry bones or it is perfectly fit together but has the life of a mannequin because it has no life…
doesn’t matter - prophesy Gods word from scripture into your dead spots! Expecting him to act on his word and do what he says he will do!

IV. Power changes the rules of the game!
Matthew 28:1-
The definition of power is rewritten.
The betrayer gets paid
The masses turn on Jesus and shout crucify
The authorities succeed in killing Jesus (this is stressed)
The Roman guards push their macho narrative by belittling and beating Jesus
Satan flexes his chest when Jesus dies
The woman are crushed and in despair hopeless
But then something happens….
God's power shift is announced with an earthquake.
The betrayer commits suicide
The masses fall in love with Jesus
Powerless women now stand at the center of action, while the powerful guards faint.
The authorities panic and have to bribe the romans
The Roman guards faint look for help like lost little children
Satan is now under the power of not just Jesus but all that have him in their life.
RIGHT HERE we see a power shift…. from the power of muscle, military, money, politics and position… to the only power that really matters.
Gods power exercised in the Spiritual spiritual realm… the power that you and I both walk around with right now. So let God out of the box!
Yesterday we talked about authority over power…
But today we marry the two.
What brings power - obedience, obedience to Gods written word and his spoken word. You do what he has written and you do what he tells you to do.
And what brings authority - intimacy. The more time you spend with him, the more you know him. He loves when we get intimate with him… and his authority becomes easier to step into because we realize we didn’t earn it, we learned it. Intimacy means we have become more like Jesus… we have learned him to the point of becoming like him.
James 4:8 draw near to God….
Never before in the history of the church has there been an easier way to hear about God through social media, youtube, podcasts, online sermons…
But intimacy is actually turning all of those things off and simply talking to him and reading his word and listening.

LK 10:18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
I have a question for you tonight if you had all the power in the world what would you do?
I would never sweat over history tests again
My brother would clean my room forever
I would have billions
I would make that woman fall in love with me
I would make my husband put the seat down… whoa, hold on sissy… Don’t flex that power to much.
I. Jesus did not push his authority
How did Jesus show his authority? Not by making vast claims for himself, though such claims were implicit. His authority seemed to reside in what he was and what he did rather than in what he specifically claimed to be
1JN 3:21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
v. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Jesus compares the disciples power versus their place. Power is great… but its not all that.
What do you really think this means? Be happy that we have a place in heaven… So let me ask you a question, do you think thats what its all about? Just getting into heaven?
I honestly believe it is about what having our name in the book of life actually means.
Let me put it this way… if I said be glad your name is on the bank account for Elon Musk. Would you be happy that you can go to the bank? Or would you be happy that it means you know Elon Musk, and you have access to all that Elon Musk has in his account?
I strongly believe Jesus is saying don’t just rejoice in your power BUT rejoice that your name is in heaven and what that means to you, don’t just rejoice that you have power… but rejoice that you have all that I have for you - from right now here on earth, to the rapture, to the work in the kingdom of God in eternity. YOU GET IT ALL!
UNDERSTAND WHO YOU ARE BY HAVING YOUR NAME IN THE BOOK OF LIFE!
LIFE ETERNAL… YOU HAVE ALL THAT HE WANTS FOR YOU NOW AND IN ETERNITY… FOREVER EVER EVER EVER
III. Do you know your power?
On July 15, 1986, Roger Clemens, the sizzling righthander for the Boston Red Sox, started his first All-Star game. In the second inning, he came to bat, something he hadn't done in years because of the American League's designated hitter rule. He took a few uncertain practice swings and then looked out at his forbidding opponent, Dwight Gooden, who the previous year had won the Cy Young Award.
Gooden wound up and threw a white-hot fastball past Clemens. With an embarrassed smile on his face, Clemens stepped out of the box and asked catcher Gary Carter, "Is that what my pitches look like?"
Clemens quickly struck out, he went on to pitch three perfect innings and be named the game's most valuable player. From that day on, he later said, with a fresh reminder of how overpowering a good fastball is, he pitched with far greater boldness.
Sometimes we forget the Holy Spirit within us and how powerful our witness can be. The gospel has supernatural power - when we speak it in confidence.

Emergency: a sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action.
Crisis: A stage in a sequence of events at which the trend of all future events, especially for better or for worse, is determined; turning point.
A sequence… you see it and feel it coming! An emergency catches you off guard, but not a crisis!
What makes a crisis a crisis… you feel like you don’t have the power to change it, correct it, deal with it. And you feel like you don’t have anyone to turn to who can deal with it.
Total loss of control…
THEREFORE
Might I submit to all listening to this sermon that if that is what makes a crisis a crisis - we as followers of Christ are never in a crisis!
Part 3
Final thought: how do you see your own personal crisis?
Your health, job, finances, relationships, your failing entrepreneurial hustle, your goals, your dreams your desires… Maybe your crisis is just the blah or plainness of life, Maybe your crisis is just nothing ever taking off or making sense, Maybe your crisis is not knowing wether to go to college, what to take, or what job to go for!
Numbers 13: Moses said find out about the promise land
PROMISE LAND??? That is like calling it the promise spanking… the promise bootcamp!
But Moses says: find out if the land is good, if the people are big, small, easy to fight or warriors, if the cities are big, fortified? What is the soil like, what are the vegetables like, the fruit, the animals and the booty etc…
Moses was really asking go check out our crisis!
In 1959 the then president John F. Kennedy in a speech said…
The Chinese symbol for crisis is 2 symbols combined. The one symbol stands for danger and the other symbol stands for opportunity… and the masses have believed it for years…
WRONG -
THE FIRST SYMBOL DOES IN FACT MEAN DANGER…
but the second symbol does not in fact mean opportunity, but actually stands for crucial or critical point…
And I like that definition better… because that is exactly what a crisis is.
Crisis is a critical point of danger - make the right choice…
See the crisis with faith… Caleb and Elisha saw the promise land with faith… they did not see it as a crisis.
Funny that the other spies who only saw a crisis… their lives and their families lives ended in the desert.
Good idea to set the example to your family and your kids how to handle a crisis… handle it with faith…

WHY A CRISIS?
*In a practical sense: because it was foretold. We knew a crisis was coming.
Luke 21:
8 And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. 9 And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”
10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.
1 - GLORIFY!
- Crisis is ultimately to bring God glory.
2 - CLARITY
- It also helps us clarify what is most important…
WE have lived a pretty easy life in the USA. No matter who you are or what you may think… compared to the rest of the world we got it made. WE HAVE BOUGHT THE LIE THAT LIFE IS ABOUT BLESSING AND PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT.
if we are in the end times and I believe we are - my life more than ever is about bringing the gospel to those around me, every day.
Don’t be that person who talks Jesus, but does not share Jesus to those he is around.
Real quick: what is the gospel.
We are sinners - in need of a savior,
(we need a void filled)
We must confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord
We confess our sins
We give him control of our life
**Trust me, trust me trust me… someone, or some issue is going to push your buttons and you will become more concerned about that issue (even if its right, biblical, whatever) you will allow that issue to take up your time, mind, thoughts, energy… instead of the gospel of Jesus taking up that space during this time of crisis.
If we are standing outside looking up at an oncoming collision with a massive asteroid and I am upset at the guy who sold me a watch and that it is running late… Im missing the point. Time is important - but the sign of the times is more important.
Your power and your passion should be about the gospel during all times, but especially at a crisis.
TRUST ME: THERE ARE GOING TO BE MILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS WHO ENTER INTO HEAVEN AND WITHIN A SPLIT SECOND REALIZE SOMEONE SOLD THEM SOMETHING OF LESSER VALUE TO BE FOCUSED ON…
WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE GOSPEL
WARNING:
LOOK CRISIS CAN CREATE LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO FOCUS ON THE WRONG THINGS…YOU WILL ATTRACT PEOPLE WITH THE WRONG FOCUS…
Do you attract Crisis people or Glory people?
I do not attract people who are insecure, who are focused on issues, who lack personal power, politics, gossip… in a crisis I do not attract people who are into anything more than the gospel. Who do you attract?
Who would you like to attract and why don’t you?
WHY AM I BIG ON THIS…because we need to keep our eyes on the prize!

The Affects of Crisis
Fear
Trauma
Depression
Dispair
frustration
anxiety
loneliness
abandonment
Worry
hopelessness
Sense of loss
sense of death
sense of survival
abuse
crime
domestic violence
What makes a crisis a crisis… you feel like you don’t have the power to change it, correct it, deal with it. And you feel like you don’t have anyone to turn to who can deal with it.
Total loss of control…

Is what we are seeing today in the world a crisis?
Not if you understand what scripture says about the end times.
Matthew 24:7 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Luke 21:

Did you know yesterday there were 2 earthquakes in Indonesia, one in the Philippines that was a 6.2,
2 weeks ago there was an earth quake in Syria and in Iran.
Now here is what is shocking… there has been a major earthquake almost every week in the world in the past few years. In fact if you go to earthquake.usg.gov you will see hundreds of earthquakes in just this year… thankfully most not massive… but their building.
But its not a crisis. Remember what a crisis is… when you don’t have the power to change it, correct it, deal with it. And you feel like you don’t have anyone to turn to who can deal with it.
What I do know in a crisis. Jesus told us to expect hard time, he told us to expect the end of the world… yes the end times are starting right now before our very eyes. He said to expect wars, earthquakes, upheaval of all sorts - So we are prepped. But what else did he tell us? He have given us all power and authority to deal with life problems, he will walk with us in his peace and power in all situations.
Listen to Psalm 46 a prophetic scripture
Psalm 46
- Trust God as our unshakable refuge in trouble (vv. 1-3).
- Trust God as our undying river of life (vv. 4-7).
- Trust God as our unbeatable ruler over all (vv. 8-11).

always ready to help in times of trouble.

So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.

If I pray hard enough, God will supply my needs and bless me…. uhm not so fast skippy!
I don’t have to be smart, intelligent or educated to be successful, I just have to be willing to think hard and work hard… and working hard is THE HARD PART! Garth Heckman
My boys growing up used to bring kids into the house and they would say “tell-em Dad, tell them how strong you are… they don’t think you can bench, or squat or deadlift…
And I would tell the kids and they would be impressed… (hey its not to hard to impress a kid)
But No one has ever bragged on me as someone who is super smart…
My boys never ran into the house and said tell them Dad, tell them just how smart you are….
Typically very few of us will have have the opportunity to out wit someone, To be smarter or more intelligent… but we have many opportunities to outwork them!
We sometimes fall into this fallacy as followers Christ that if we pray hard and trust him he will bless us… no work necessary.
Maybe you heard the joke about the young girl who comes home from Bible college for the summer… this is the boy I am going to marry…
After dinner the father takes the boy into his office and says…
So what do you do for work… oh I don’t have a job… I trust God
Well where will you live when you marry my daughter… Oh I will just trust God
Well what will you do for food so my daughter can eat… I will just pray and trust God.
The husband later that night is in bed with his wife and she asks him what do you think of our daughters boyfriend. The husband says… well good news and bad news. She asks him what is the bad news…Well he has no job, no house and no money for food…The wife nervously asks…well what is the good news. He thinks Im God.
Wether you want to believe it or not the Bible has a lot to say about work!
Col. 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
Prov. 13: 4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
Prov. 14:23 In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
2 Thess. 3:10-12 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
Prov. 12:24 The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.
Ecc. 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.
1 Tim. 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
AND BELIEVE ME… THERE ARE A FEW DOZEN MORE VERSES ON THIS SUBJECT.
So we are called to do our part, and God will do his part… but we gotta do our part.
There was a man who inherited an old irish garden with stone walls, and statues and at one time tons of rich flowers, shrubs and greenery with beautiful paths and columns … but now it was all run down, overtaken by weeds, walls had toppled, statues were green with moss… it was ugly.
So the man got busy and busted his tail for a few years and turned it back into it’s once beautiful garden. Pretty soon everyone wanted to come visit, people would want their weddings there, and graduation pictures taken there, people from out of town would come and see it.
One day the man was walking around with some tourists when a man in the group said… you know this is all wonderful but lets be honest its God who gave the seed, brings the rain, makes the sun shine and even causes things to grow. The owner of the garden said I can’t agree with you more!… but just between you and me… when just God was in charge of this place it was a mess

Ghostbusters… Im not saying its a christian movie… but its got some pretty strong christian themes… like this one…
“Choose your destroyer….” and then Bill Murray says Oh my God… what did you do Ray? and poof or should I say Puff the marshmallow man appears.
Prov. 23:7 whatsoever a man thinketh so is he.
What consumes my mind is what fills my future.
What fills your belly? You get to choose and it doesn’t matter what it is… if you feed it enough it will fill it.
What fills your mind?
Well first we should ask who fills your mind? Who is the gatekeeper to your mind?
YOU, You choose, you feed and you are full between your ears.
Therefore your future is all you… or should I say all up to you.
Now we typically think of this as a bad thing…but if it was seen as a fatalist… yes then its bad. But its not stated as a fatalist… it is stated as a choice by the reader.
So I get to choose my future by what I put in my head!
BTW this is not a Christian spiritual Jesus Godly principle. this is a truth, a law in the universe regardless of who you are.
God says whatsoever a man sows (puts into his head) he shall reap. God will not be mocked on this. The verse in Galatians is not saying “whatsoever a Christian person” puts in their mind or life… You just have to be human for this to work.
Advanced attraction: when you know what you want your eyes will see things that will help you get what you want. Your heart will feel things that will help you get what you want, your mind will think things that will help you get what you want, your life will attract things that will help you get what you want.
You can test this while listening to this podcast - test this law and try right now to find all the things that are red. I bet you didn’t realize all the red things around you… and what if you were asked to see all the red things through out the day… you would see hundreds… but what if I said I would give you a thousand dollars for each and every red thing you saw today while out and about… You would be on high alert. Your mind would literally alter its perception to see as much red as possible. You in fact might actually rewire the brain to become hyper sensitive to red.
Again let me read what advanced attraction is:
Advanced attraction: when you know what you want your eyes will see things that will help you get what you want. Your heart will feel things that will help you get what you want, your mind will think things that will help you get what you want, your life will attract things that will help you get what you want.
Now lets put some practice into this for today…
what if you were asked to see all the things that you could pray about today… just silently in your head. And even ask God to speak to you about it and teach you something from it. You would pray over your job, family the red light, the car in front of you, the weather, your finances, your sister, your pastor, your sore right leg…it would never stop. You would begin to see all things as possible ways God is trying to speak to you.
Lets get even more practical… one thing a lot of us have trouble with is basing our value on what other people think.
Another persons opinion is a terrible place to put your happiness.
But again, what if you decide to think of all the ways you add value to your life, your families life, to the world, to your church, to yourself… what if you began to see the talents God gave you, the gifts, the passions, the skills… what if you saw yourself the way a little boy sees a grown up…”wow, they are so smart, strong, free, cool”….
Believe it or not, your mindset as to how you see yourself is all based on what you put into your mind.
What if you saw yourself the way God sees you… what if you put that in your mind…

Ive been hearing a lot lately about a Growth mindset vs fixed mindset
The fixed mindset says this is probably as good as it gets. I will never truly be smarter or in a better place financially. I will always be tethered to problems that I am unable to truly navigate and fix. I only have the possibility of things changing by luck or simply through years of time. I am stuck with the same intelligence, talent and gifts and cannot expect any more than that. My life is mostly dependent on others and circumstances beyond my control.
The growth mindset is simply the opposite, it says I can always get smarter, better, I can always make more money. I can change my life, my circumstances my future. I am continually adapting to make life better and more fulfilling.
Followers of Christ understand this more as a Fear mindset vs. Faith mindset
I like to think of it as fishing glasses… years ago I was going on a fishing trip with a great friend who is a Musky guide and fantastic fisherman. We had everything packed to fish for days - including food. But he said I should get some polarizing fishing sunglasses… we stopped at a fishing store and they had dozens to choose from. He suggested pair A over Pairs B C D etc… But they were most expensive, I chose pair W… the cheapest ones the store had. And for a week I had to look through crappy, frustrating, loose easily scratched glasses…. that is how I saw everything….
Faith is choosing the right glasses to see things through.
I choose to see life’s problems and promises and good days and bad days through faith.
Romans 10:17
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God… so its not a choice of I do have faith or I don’t have faith. It is an understanding of growing in faith according to how much of gods word you hear and act on.
I put on the glasses of faith by continually reading and listening to the word of God.
2 Tim. 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly studies and handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene.
study to show thyself… “not yet”. Meaning, that you don’t know everything now… not yet anyway, but you will. You don’t have all understanding or faith for this problem but you will… not yet, but I will… as you study Gods word the faith will come.
here is a secret -
The more you fully engage - the more you learn. You say I will never learn another language… maybe because you just downloaded an app or watched a few videos… but trust me, if you moved to another country were no one spoke english, you would learn that language. you are fully engaged in their culture and would almost be forced to. Milton Pope a great friend an missionary tells a story of when he and his wife moved to Argentina. Her name was Macky… she moved from the states with him to Argentina and said to her husband and others “Im not going to learn spanish, I will be fine with English”. And after 6 months she was speaking fluent spanish… why? She hadn’t planned on it, but she was immersed in spanish. she had to learn how to speak just to survive mentally and emotionally. She was full engaged even though she didn’t want to be at first.
Soooo… Fully engage in your faith.
John G. Lake probably one of the greatest faith healers in history used to take his students and send them out to different areas of the country to pray over people who were dying from various diseases - he would simply say “don’t come back until they are healed”. He fully immersed them in their journey of faith.
What if we choose to immerse ourselves in faith the same way… I am going to choose to give a million dollars to help rescue children in sex trafficking… now I will push myself and fully engage in my faith to do just that… I will not stop praying, trusting and trying until by Gods grace and my faith in him I make and give a million dollars to this cause.
How will you fully engage your faith in order to supersize your faith?
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
THINK OF IT THIS WAY… transformed mind by renewing MEANS You didn’t fail, you were transforming.
The faith mindset is always under control in the form of growing. What do I mean by that? Growing my faith can seem chaotic until I realize its sometimes chaotic so therefore I don’t see it as chaos anymore. Renewing is continued growth… and that means things will never be good enough- and aren’t I glad. I would hate to have the same level faith I had 10 years ago, or even 2 years ago. It is transforming… moving, evolving, changing, morphing… which might seem like little steps of failure, but its actually failing forward, or transforming. When the caterpillar dips himself into the cocoon, it it because he failed as a caterpillar? No - its because he is transforming into a butterfly.
But let me add one final point - faith isn’t blind, its not stupid and it doesn’t act brash to those who know God. You can have a positive mindset and still jump off a building and fall to your death, no matter how much you believe you can fly. So it is with faith. Unless your faith is backed up by Gods word and his spirit leading in you to walk that out… you may fail with all the faith in the world.
Faith does not mean foolishness… now it may seem foolish to others in what I say and what I do… but that is as far as it goes. To me, its not foolishness because I have heard Gods voice and have acted on it. I have been tested, tried and morphed into a new level of faith.
