John 2 First miracle water in to wine…
Jesus took a jar that was used for the outward of man… the cleansing of your body and used that clay jar for something it was not supposed to be used for. He was counter culture in what he taught, and how he taught.
John’s mentioning of this detail is almost certainly meant to underscore the redemptive-historical transition from the recurring ceremonial requirements of the old covenant (Ex. 30:17–21) to the once-for-all washing of baptism in the new covenant (Rom. 6:3–5; Titus 3:5–6). This is Jesus’ way of saying, “You won’t be needing that anymore, for the new wine of the new covenant is here”
*And noting another possible allusion, John has gone out of his way to tell us that the wine was drawn from stone jars. In this way, Jesus’ miracle involves bringing forth wine from rock, revealing Christ to be the true and better Moses, for Moses brought forth only water from the rock (Ex. 17:6; Num. 20:8). Isn’t this pattern in keeping with what John has already told us? The water of the law was given through Moses- he struck the rock
Moses gave the law from the rock- stone tablets
*JESUS GIVES LIFE, GRACE, NEW WINE OUT OF THE ROCK!
Moses brought the 10 commandments. the law, it was work… it takes work to make wine… it didn’t take work for jesus to make wine, because he saved us by his grace. Grace is the secret weapon to a fruitful life… when you do what Jesus says, and you understand his grace you see how he is the great life hack.
but the wine of grace came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17).
Why did he do it? To reveal his glory. its right there in the text. God will take our mundane and make him look good.
God takes our brokenness, our uncleanliness, our emptiness, our stone hearts and does the miraculous in order to make him look good, in order to Glorify the father.
So what do we see in the whole story?
God takes our hard hearts
He sees our need, he calls us
We obey him
he does the miraculous
and God looks good… Perfect. That is exactly what life is about.
They told the bride and groom you saved the best till last….
I BELIEVE THE BEST IS YET TO COME - in my life, in your life- regardless of age! If you do what Jesus says…

John 2 First miracle water in to wine…
In todays world it can take between 3-4 years to plant and harvest a worthy crop of grapes. Then 8-12 weeks to bottle them and then another couple of years to age and properly embody a great wine in that bottle… all told a great wine could take up to 5-8 years… and even longer depending on how long you would like to keep the bottle and maintain it until you want to drink it… but not with Jesus…
Not only does jesus take our mundane, the water from the stone pots that everyone has had their dirty hands in, and is just filthy… not only does he take that and make wine, but he does not need 8 years… he needs nothing more than the time it takes to be asked.
Great wine takes a long time: Jesus can take the mundane and common and immediately make it amazing. Like with your life… just do what he says! Remember what his Mom “mary” said to the servants… just do whatever he says- and boom we cut out the middle man, the work, the labor, the money the dependence in circumstances like weather etc…
You want to change fast? - obedience will get you into the new wine!
Another amazing thing we see here is that
Jesus shows his power over the smallest details. He turned the common and its basic structure into a new molecular cellular transformation.
If you pick grapes, crush them, ferment them and bottle them you get wine over time.
If you take water, shake it up, bottle it and give it time, you still get water. if you give it years… you still get water. But God takes water… and changes it miraculously.
Dr. Cliff Lewis explains:
At a molecular level, the water, basically hydrogen and oxygen, was changed into wine that contains sugars, yeast, and water, which contain carbon and nitrogen along with oxygen and hydrogen. Thus, by changing water into wine Jesus demonstrated his authority over even the atomic structure of atoms by commanding oxygen and hydrogen atoms to disassemble and reform into other atoms of different configurations.
What small details in your life under the masters touch could be transformed… even the minute detail, the smallest of things that seem easily overlooked? Does not matter to the master - Just do what he says and watch him transform all areas of your life, even the smallest!

John 2 First miracle water in to wine…
They are out of wine?
So? This was not like being out of cake at your wedding…
Remembered for not even being able to provide for the
wedding let alone the bride and her future.
Huge embarrassment for the groom and the couple.
* The brides family could take the grooms family to court - How was the wedding… oh it was a little weird… they ran out of cake and the groom was served a subpoena from the brides father.
He does this on the 3rd day… John makes mention of this for a very obvious reason. The 3rd day…
New birth New life New transitions
3rd day God reveals the to Abraham what he has provided
3rd day God meets his people at Mt. Sinai
3rd day God revives his fallen people
3rd day God brings Jonah from the pit
3rd day God creates plants to bring forth wine
3rd day that Jesus raised from the dead
Whenever you hear “on the 3rd day”… somethings about to go down.
Mary asks Jesus “do something” Jesus says now is not the time to announce I am the Messiah.
This seems weird right?
Cana is about 2 miles north of Nazereth- that is where Jesus is from. That is where Mary had to live out her life as the woman who got pregnant before her wedding…
Maybe she is saying… prove to everyone that you are the son of God and that I am not crazy.
HE SAYS MY TIME HAS NOT YET COME…
BUT IN John 17… just before he is crucified in the garden he says “Father now my time has come”.
The cross- and the resurrection is why I am here!
6 stone pots
most likely a priest or higher up religious leader
The number 6 speaks of man and incompleteness.
The pots are dirty…i.e. sinful
Out of the stone pots a new wine comes out
OUT OF THE STONE COMES A NEW WINE…

There’s a never ending reel of embarrassing moments in my wedding career.
- no matches for the unity candle
- Wedding at the local saloon - music on the jukebox
Getting the bartender in trouble for charging me
- a bride literally being sewn and safety pinned into her dress… only to have it slowly come apart during the ceremony
- Guns and Roses song by long hair dude
- A Groomsman passing out - OUT!
- wedding in Kansas in July out in the middle of the wheat field… standing there completely undressed…
THE FIRST MIRACLE
ONLY 5 DISCIPLES AT THIS TIME - AND IT CEMENTED IN THEIR MINDS WHO HE WAS.
John 2 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
Water into wine
WINE IN SCRIPTURE:
Wine represents the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from sin. The old wine took work…. works based, the new wine was based on Christ work alone.
It also represents joy!
They are out of wine?
Could get taken to court
Remembered for not even being able to provide for the
wedding let alone the bride and her future.
Huge embarrassment for the groom and the couple.
6 stone pots
most likely a priest or higher up religious leader
The number 6 speaks of man and incompleteness.
The pots are dirty…i.e. sinful
Out of the stone pots a new wine comes out
OUT OF THE STONE COMES A NEW WINE…
So Jesus goes a little overboard…
180 gallons of the best wine - 180? Thats 908 standard-sized bottles of wine.
They were most likely able to sell this and live off of it for a very long time!

WE TRANSFORM BY ABIDING
To understand these next few days it is so important that you listen to the first one called Jealousy. It sets the stage for the levels of abiding in God.
So after yesterday we talked about praise and worship… and next is the Word of God.
Prayer (Praying scripture, praying in tongues)
Making our requests known. Prayer of petition,
But the most powerful prayers are just conversations where you talk, and listen. Remember prayer is simply talking to God… but IT IS GOD we are talking to. So even though it is simple- it is profound and don’t forget that.
If you had the chance to talk to your hero…how much time would you want and how serious would you take it? lets treat prayer with God the same.
We call it prayer because it is to denote that we are conversing with a deity, but again it is just conversation.
What makes a good conversation? Ever talk to someone who just won’t shut up, who interrupts and the conversation is always about them?
Welcome to my prayer time - ok kidding, not kidding. We can make prayer all about us, but its really all about the Father in heaven.
He is our Daddy, we have open heavens to commune with him… so talk
Also prayer is never just a piece of my day- its the filler. Smith Wigglesworth said “I rarely pray more than 30 minutes a day, but I rarely go 30 minutes without praying”. What did he mean? Prayer is to be thought of as continual communion with Jesus through out the day. yes, we have set times of prayer, but he should always be a part of our thought process and conversation through out the day.
Finally what we have been really trying to get at is the idea behind abiding… and that is simply waiting.
You must understand that God does want to talk to you. He does want to be in your presence… but it comes down to waiting and how much do you want it, or him!
Waiting on the Lord is an act of faith.
Quiet your phones, cut out all distractions, quit praying, settle your soul and just wait on God. For his move, his word, his love. Remember he is a jealous God… give him your full attention and just wait.
I like to have a journal in hand, and a pen and I just wait. I don’t ask questions, I don’t sing, I don’t let my mind wander, I just say speak to me God… and you would be surprised at just how much he wants to talk to you.
John 7:38, 39 38Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’” 39He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.…
If you really believe in him, then you will make it a habit, a discipline to wait on him…. and Rivers of living water shall flow out of you- not just a river, but rivers… his spirit will touch every area of your life!

To understand these next few days it is so important that you listen to the first one called Jealousy. It sets the stage for the levels of abiding in God.
So after yesterday we talked about praise and worship… and next is the Word of God.
praise and worship
we bring a sacrifice of praise… praise crucifies the flesh.
Psalm 100 we enter his courts with thanksgiving in our hearts we enter his courts with praise….
This is a Psalm about the sheep entering into the courts of the temple… news flash- the sheep entering into the course are there to be sacrificed.
Praise and worship is
A form of faith in and through obedience in all circumstances.
You praise him - regardless of circumstances (obedience)
You believe his word - “ “ “ (obedience)
You act on his word - “ “ “ (obedience)
You live his mission - “ “ “ (obedience)
The difference of Praise and worship
Praise is stepping on the flesh. You don’t feel like it but you put your flesh to death. We bring a sacrifice of praise. We surrender our feelings, our flesh and our surroundings.
We need to praise in order to move into the deeper parts of worship.
once we sacrifice our flesh only then can we truly be drawn into worship.
Worship is an understanding of being moved by his presence to WANT to worship him.
In the hebrew the word worship means lick or kiss
Barak - to kneel, fall down, worship him. To salute God! A total surrender.
We want to worship him! We need to worship him, it becomes our heart focus and desire.
So we praise him regardless of how we feel, we yell, sing, shout, get excited to be in his presence… WE MAKE OUR FLESH CONFORM TO HIS WORTH… HE IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED- TO SACRIFICE OUR FEELINGS AND FLESH TO BRING HIM WORDS OF PRAISE!
THEN WE CAN WORSHIP HIM…

So after yesterday we talked about praise and worship… and next is the Word of God.
The word
Is a light,
is a sword,
is life, it is sustenance
is wisdom ITS WORK!
2 Tim. 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, WORKMAN that needeth not be ashamed.
Levels of reading Gods word
- 1 You just read to read, maybe it is discipline, maybe curiosity, maybe guilt, maybe habit… and it is basically head knowledge. We typically start there. Not a lot of work involved really… just reading.
- 2 Read and re-read. Looking for other scriptures that highlight and speak to the current scriptures you are reading. You read about sowing and reaping in Galatians, and you go check out Luke 8 on sowing and reaping the word, then you realize the verses on Gods family in 19-21 is about sowing.
- 3 Reading and studying with other books, and assistance from DVD’s, bible courses etc… Trying to understand the historical setting, the church background, the audience, the author and the greek behind the text.
- 4 Reading until you see Christ reveal himself in the word. Lets take our previous example of sowing and reaping… now you realize that Christ had to be a seed, and be planted in the ground, and die and then resurrect int life eternal for those of us to feast off of and have life eternal. All things begin to point to Jesus.
READ until God shows you insight, illumination and finally read until you are more hungry to spend time with God. When I read and pray and abide- I know it is working because it makes me want to spend even more time in reading, praying and abiding!
The great hero of faith, Smith wiggles worth, John G lake, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, John G Finney and the list could go on and on… they all were hungry for time with God and it became a habit and an addiction to where they would spend hours a day (and never miss day) with God.

Psalm 91 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place, (ABIDE)
10
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12
In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
Ps. 91:1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
DWELLS - lives continually, this is where I do my business, this is my mindset, this is my calling, this is my hope, this is my framework. It’s where I live!
REST - Abide, like when an eagle rests on the winds underneath its wings.
PSALM 91:1 SECRET PLACE
What is the secret place?
Psalm 31:20 You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the schemes of men. You conceal them in Your shelter from accusing tongues.
Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Ps. 91: He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide/wait under the shadow of the Almighty.
REST - Abide, like when an eagle rests on the winds underneath its wings.
How to wait
God is a jealous God.
Have you ever wanted someones attention, you actually deserve it- and they are distracted.
WE always think of jealousy as a bad thing… but it also can be a good thing.
It wants to protect, it wants to instruct, it wants you to recognize their love and intent for you.
Kim in our yard talking to the neighbor… she had a bikini top on with shorts… the guy next door would always want to talk to her on the fence - I was ticked, I told her not to walk over there and talk to him. I was jealous!
“For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God” (Deut. 4:24).
God wants all of you!
Turn off your phone- silence your soul and mind. Shut down your computer, maybe even turn off the praise music.

The Currency
Friday Jun 03, 2022
Friday Jun 03, 2022
What is the currency of intimacy with God?
What is the currency of power from God?
What is the currency for the anointing of God?
Do you have to be willing to be mocked?
Do you have to be willing to be stripped of some of your wants and desires? Do you have to be weird?
Well lets back up…
First the currency to be used by God, to be intimate with Jesus and to be anointed greatly by the Holy Spirit is simply this… you must be willing to spend time.
Time is a very valuable commodity - maybe the most valuable commodity… and you have to be willing to spend it. Cut out time from your calendar, your TV watching time, your friends, your hobbies, you must be willing to even isolate people because you choose time with God over time with others. You may have to say not to special projects, dinner with friends, time on hobbies or even just resting on the couch… you SPEND your time on God.
Now because of that you will be led in different areas, and used in uncommon ways and even minister in very odd and to some- disturbing methods.
Now because of that you will be mocked, you will be stripped of some desires and wants, you will be ridiculed.
Some people think being weird will bring the presence of God - nope. but having the presence of God will make you stand out for odd reasons.
There are times when I will be watching a movie with family and or friends and I have to leave to go pray. It might be that the movie disturbs me so much I have to leave and pray… and BTW by disturbing me I mean to most in a very mundane almost pedestrian way. like I leave because a woman is having an affair - not even sexual content, just the mention of it… to most it would seem benign - but anyway. Sometimes I just leave the movie or the room because I realize it is a waste of time and i could be praying.
Now because of those things, you will also be preparing yourself to be mocked (but you will be able to take it, because you have the intimacy to rest in) You will be ridiculed, you will be called a phony, you will be questioned on your theology, you will have family members lash out at you or even treat you with a smug and snideful attitude.
But then something strange starts to happen, you will gladly offer up your life, your interests, your goals, your time, your talent, your money all that is within you- you will say Take all of me God - and you will truly mean it. And yes, he may in fact take all of you and more!
But it is worth it!
Push in, pray, seek him and trust the process. Be willing to pay the currency of time to know him more!
