1 Samuel 19
18 When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there. 19 Word came to Saul: “David is in Naioth at Ramah”; 20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men, and they also prophesied. 21 Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied. 22 Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?”
“Over in Naioth at Ramah,” they said.
23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth. 24 He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Saul is the King, the authority of the land,
He is moved by God, he is prophesying, he is in a sense slain under the spirit, he is immobilized by God moving, and Saul’s spirit is obviously receptive to God…
All powerful, all authority and being moved on by God… but his mind, soul, body was still set on killing David.
Don’t trust the person just because they seem spiritual… good word today to single women who meet quote un quote Godly men and only want what they want using their spiritual pseudo mumbo jumbo to blind women. But even if you are a man and there are so called spiritual people who have ill will, ill intention for you- we see something really unique in this story. Chapter 20 goes on to show that God puts David in the midst of those who would show him favor and protect him from the enemy… wether it was the twisted king or the phillistines or any other enemy.
David finds favor from Jonathan… the kings very own son
From other men who were rejects from society, and even wanted for crimes they did not commit, the down and out and prophets… not just Samuel.
God surrounds David with the weirdest band of people to protect him, keep him, inform him and make sure that Gods will does in fact take place in Davids life.
What do we learn from this… well David was after Gods heart, he wanted to serve God, he wanted Gods will to be done and he honored King Saul never lifting a finger to harm him. And God will have his way in his life because of it. He does it in the strangest way.
maybe you are in a odd spot, surrounded by people who seemingly can’t really help you out, but because you want what God wants he redeems those around you, the relationships in your circle and network and he uses them in surreal ways to bring his will to fruition in your life. Don’t look at where you are at and judge what God wants to do by your surroundings, by the people in your life… simply trust that God wants to do more, he wants to do his will in your life… and push into him and watch what happens.
Its easy to think “how will this ever work out”
But instead learn to say
“I can’t wait to see how this will work out”
Hey Gods got this, let him in and let him do what he does best… the amazing!

F.B. Meyer once said that when you see someone in sin there are two things we do not know. First, we do not know how hard he or she tried not to sin and the second thing is we do not know the power of the forces that assailed him or her…. And while that is true, we also do not know wether or not they just simply chose to sin without even fighting… actually there are a lot of things we don’t know… but what we do know is most important.
A recent survey among all ages of men and woman they ranked their greatest spiritual challenges, struggles… or you might say temptations. Here they are
Materialism
Sex/Lust
Pride
Self centeredness
Laziness
anger/bitterness
Envy
Gluttony
Lying… of course lying is at the bottom probably because people lied about it… ok, bad joke.
"reality" TV show to hit the air
in the Netherlands is "Big Diet". Six overweight men and a half-dozen
overweight women will be locked away in a castle in Houtem for 13 weeks
surrounded by 37 cameras. Each week, the person who lost the least
weight will be thrown off the show, and the winner will get the amount
of weight lost in gold. Meanwhile, their days will be filled with low-
cal diet food, workouts and temptation -- a fridge packed with their
favorite snack foods. (Reuters) ...Finally, a "reality" show that has a
bit of reality in it.
But have you ever wondered why sometimes it’s hard to not give in to temptation and why sometimes it’s easy? Here are what people said when asked why they think they sometimes give in easier than other at other times.
If they have neglected their time with God
When they are physically tired
When they are emotional
thats about it….
How did the same group say they could overcome sinning? Prayer, avoiding compromising situations, bible study and accountability.
Now this is all good to know, but have you ever wondered why we are tempted to sin… no no not because we are mad or burned out… but I mean simply what is the purpose behind being tempted? Can any good come from it?
Lets look at scripture
James 1;13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
Now hold that thought….
If we go back up a few verses it says this
James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything
The word Trials in verse 2 is the same word as /Temptation in verse 13- same word
So why are we tempted… well we are fleshly human creatures… that is why. But what good comes from it? Well that is so we can become mature believers in Christ.
Mature - developed in every area… EVERY AREA!!!
Complete = finished the process of being Christ like
So temptation is a good thing if handled correctly because it makes us more like Jesus in every way.
So you wanna be more like Jesus? No… you don’t have to pray for more temptation… that will take care of itself. But you can pray for more of Gods power and his word in your heart and mind so that you can overcome it and be more like him.
See if you change your perspective it makes temptation a whole lot easier to handle and more rewarding and gratifying to succeed in!

I am a pastor, a business owner, an entrepreneur, a personal trainer, an author, speaker and a powerlifter. In all of these various roles I have one key component that I live by… You will get very little of my time if you are not passionate about something… anything really, but please be passionate… I hate wasting my time with people who are apathetic.
Col.3: 23Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
Eccl. 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
Romans 12:11 Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
What if your passion was your alarm clock? You get up and your feet hit the ground and your mind is buzzing a million miles a second with your passion.
Edmund Burke went so far as to say that Passion is the central part of human character.
But living a life of passion is hard right? What if you are not passionate about anything… what if you aren’t really good at anything? It’s gotta be hard being passionate about something if you suck at everything… or are we missing something.
the reality is that scripture does not say that passion comes from having the right goals, the right vision, the right priorities, the right plan or even the right talents or gifting. You can be Joe ordinary and live a life of passion. let me explain to you how this works.
Passion in the greek actually can mean the wide eyed wonder and awe that creates an energy to live for something… it can also mean suffering, it can also mean a strong desire to prepare for God. the point is that it is a word specifically used to describe intense emotion good or bad. But lets look at the nuance of Preparing for God.
When I was a freshman in bible college at CFNI, I was a valet. I worked clubs, high rise apartment buildings, parties and even the mall… not just any mall but the galleria. One day working at the mall a limo pulled up and it was Andy Gibb one of the brothers of the famed Bee Gee’s… you know saturday night fever etc… anyway, he was cold and his girlfriend Victoria Principal had her limo driver pull up to let him out to buy a full length fur coat. She yelled out the window… I’ll wait here honey. So the limo sat there while he went in. Well look, I am 18 years old, she was smoking hot and while she sat there all I could figure was she was staring at me and my buddy who were valeting… so we looked to impress. We lined up the keys, we re parked a few cars to make them more straight, we treated each customer who came out with class, dignity and respect. We even turned down a few tips to show that we were here to serve humanity and not just for the money…. Ok, you get the idea.
Now was she watching us from the darkened windows of the stretch limo… probably not. But who was watching us? The man himself… well the God man- Jesus. God is watching… and If I truly believe that, well then it fills all I do with passion.
Knowing we are doing it for him and he is watching us, creates an intense force in us that fuels our everyday, sometimes monotonous daily activities. Does the holy spirit help… yes, but having a why behind the spirit is even a greater motivator.
Think of the professional athlete, He has the training, the skill, the expertise in study and knowledge - right down to the muscular body to do the job… but ask any athlete what really motivates him and its two things… the prize, crown or trophy depending on what sport and the fans who are watching. Especially if there is family in the stands… especially if it is your father or mother.
So now you get it right? We get a crown if we finish well, we get rewarded if we finish well… and we also have a cloud of witnesses watching us… and God the father himself. Now if that doesn’t fire you up, you need to check your pulse! Living with passion is simply knowing who is watching and what we get in the end.

3 Biggies
Eph. 5
14So it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” 15Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Redeem the time… we just talked about the power of redemption, but this is a new insight to what it means. Remember redemption is not just getting back what was taken from you, but getting even more… being purchased to be set free in order to gain all that God has for you.
so we are to redeem the time. What are the 3 key components of our time?
Sleep, Health/nutrition and spiritual walk
What does verse 13 say? Wake up!
Poor sleep
use a C-Pap if you have too, cut out caffeine, wear an light blinder to block out light for sleep, sleep in a different bed if you partner keeps you up, buy a better mattress, a better pillow or kick the dog out of the room… but sleep
Reasons Why Sleep Is Important
- Reason 1: Helps brain function.
- Reason 2: Keeps emotions in check.
- Reason 3: Reduces disease risk.
- Reason 4: Keeps weight under control.
- Direct correlation to your strength
Pay attention to how you walk - be wise
Overweight….
Im not talking nutrition. You can eat lard everyday and if it helps you keep your weight down that will be of better benefit than eating well and being overweight. The simple benefit of being lean is of far greater benefit to your health than eating healthy. Get what Im saying??? Stay lean regardless of what you eat to do it… lean with muscle, not skinny fat. (more on that at a later date) but to have nutrient dense food and eat healthy but still be over weight is far more dangerous than eating junk food and staying lean.
Anxiety, depression, poor self esteem
Bad brain health -slows cognitive thinking
Can cause early dementia
Sleep apnea, high blood pressure and pre-diabetic
3rd but most important in redeeming is the time… where am I going with this?
Bad faith.
Notice I did not say not enough faith or reading and praying… yes that is a necessity but unless you have the right faith to activate the word of God in your life its simply filling up your car with gas every day and never running the engine.
We waste so much time with bad faith.
How many people in todays world simply read and pray only in an attempt to tap into an energy or a faith that they want simply for their own desires, goals and gifting. We read and pray to know God, and to make him known PERIOD. Does he want to be a part of our successes and trophy’s? Sure, but that is the side bar to what he really wants… he wants us obedient and busy making disciples.
I don’t have faith in me or my goals or dreams or future plans… Do I have goals, dreams and future plans- of course. But my faith is active and alive through his spoken word in my heart that I obey.
Bad faith is simply applying Gods principles to your priorities over Gods.
I hope this is enough to chew on today and until tomorrow Keep slaying giants.

Col. 1:13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
In Whom - In Christ we are once and for all time (forever and ever) liberated (note that "we have" is in the present tense indicating that Christ's redemption is our present and continuous possession! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!) because He has paid the redemption price in full (see Commentary on "It is Finished" in John 19:30) with His infinitely, inestimably precious blood (1Pe 1:18, 19-note). Beloved, in light of this great doctrine, we need to learn to daily walk in His glorious gift of freedom, not under a burden of legalism (cp 1Jn 5:3) but motivated by an attitude of gratitude and love which generates the obedience of faith
AND
Christ paid the ransom price (see lutron/lytron used only twice in NT = Mt 20:28, Mk 10:45) with His blood (1Pe 1:18-19-note, 1Pe 1:20-Note; 1Cor 6:20-note; Rev 5:9-note), freeing us from the curse of the law (Gal 3:13; 4:5) and releasing us from bondage of sin into the freedom of grace (cp Ro 6:14-Note).
WE didn’t just get back to broke… zero.
REDEEMED NOT JUST TO BE BACK TO PAID, BUT TO BE FREE.
IF YOU PAY THE PRICE FOR A SLAVE… THAT IS NOT FREEDOM.
REDEMPTION IS ABOVE AND BEYOND: YOU PAY THE PRICE TO PURCHASE THE SLAVE AND THEN YOU SET THEM FREE!
Eph. 1:7 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,
GK = abundance of all things including riches and property and things!
APPLY THIS IN 3 WAYS
-1 Begin to worship God as a redeemer it unlocks a new understanding of who God is and what he wants to do in your life, ministry, finances, relationships,
- 2 Practice and believe for redeemed Relationships.
YES WITH GOD
BUT NOW WITH OTHERS IN YOUR LIFE
Tim and Melissa… God wanted to redeem those relationships. And he has! It is better than ever.
- 3 Choose to see yourself as redeemed?
The world can’t say they are redeemed.
They might say “this is mine, I want what’s mine, I am going after it - I earned this
I had to grind
I worked my tail off
its all based on the flesh -
The mindset is all of me body soul and spirit, My health, my wealth, my mind… Yes I put in the good works… trusting God to redeem my effort through his Holy Spirit.
You buy the boat, you repair the sail, you hire the men to run your ship, you train, study and even purchase the food for the long voyage… but its God who sends the wind. He redeems your work with the wind…. but you gotta put in the work.

Hard to believe facts…
The supreme court of the united states has a basketball court on its top floor… and its nicknamed the highest court
Harvard might be hard to get into with a 4.5 percent admittance rate, but try this on for size: only 2.6 percent of Walmart applicants are accepted.
It officially takes 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. Well, at least according to engineering students' scientific endeavor at Purdue University,
50% of Christians say they are deeply committed to practicing their faith but only 11% have a biblical worldview.
73% of churched Millennials believe they are gifted at sharing their faith, but half of them (47%) think it is wrong to share the faith with someone of a different faith.
Only half of America’s pastors (51%) have a biblical worldview.
In 1631, a publishing company published a Bible with the typo “Thou Shalt Commit Adultery.” Only 9 of these Bibles, known as the “Sinners’ Bible” exist today.
China is not only the largest producer of textiles and manufactured goods in the world; the country is also the largest producer of Bibles.
Now some people find it hard to believe that there is a God… but even more distressing or even shocking thing I have ever heard of… EVER E V E R !!!!!
The son of God, Jesus, the perfect, spotless, innocent, righteous, holy, all powerful, all knowing, beautiful one… gave up his life for my sins. He paid the price for redeeming me from the curse of the sin and shame and death. God didn’t look the other way, he didn’t bribe off the courts with a pizza and a few bucks, he gave his son for my sacrifice. And it wasn’t a quick painless bullet to the head… it was excruciatingly painful… and evil and twisted… I have a beautiful 4 year old granddaughter… I would absolutely fall to pieces, and I mean completely lose it, if my son said “Dad because of your sin we are going to strip, beat and murder your granddaughter… so you can be forgiven.
She is the most innocent loving sweet caring person I know on earth… and her love for me is unending… I couldn’t do it. But my granddaughter doesn’t even hold a candle to Jesus. Unbelievable that God would love me so much that he would give his own son in my place for the price to be paid for my sin. I told you it was crazy talk.
I hope today you take time to realize just how amazing it is that God loves you so much that he gave his son to die on the cross for your sins so that you could have a relationship with him, God the father.

I don’t want to waste my life… I don’t think anyone does. So I have been on a quest to find out what allows someone to get the most out of their life… What I am talking about is how do I make the biggest impact I can make in my life time.
Have you ever asked yourself what does it take to make an impact on the world, or at least a bigger impact through my own life?
I have learned one thing in my 57 years here on earth, the greater the impact you want to make I must practice these three things… Now I am not saying this the final 3, or that there may not be a few others… but for the most part I think Im on track. What are they?
Number 1…
- To make a greater impact in and through my life I must learn to say No more.
It would seem counter intuitive to do less and expect more… but trust me its not. There is a power in saying no that allows you the time, effort and energy to say yes to the things you are passionate about. The things you know God has called you to do.
I would imagine one of the curses of having lots of money is that everyone has a cause they want you to get behind… well guess what? We all have something that is even more valuable than money - thats time. On your death bed you won’t wish for more money… But I bet you would take more time in a heart beat.
So to get the biggest bang for my buck with my time, I have promised to say No to 5 things for everything I might say yes to. Or I tell myself to only say yes to one thing a day…. or even make rules that if I say yes to one thing, I must eliminate something else in my life. What I am trying to say is that to speak NO is more important than speaking 5 languages.
What does Scripture say “redeem the time”
Eph. 4:15Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is
If we truly want to use our time better we better realize that God has some things he wants us to say yes to and other things he wants us to say no to. More often than not, No is better than yes.
Number 2 If I want to make a bigger impact with my life
- there are friends I need to break away from.
I have lots of friends… now I am not saying to make them enemies, but what I am saying is that I must have a very specific goal behind every friendship. I just posted to a friends post about this stating that I believe out of 10 friends, you should have 3 you pour into (you might call that discipleship), 4 that you are equal with for support and friendship, and 3 that pour into you (personal mentors)
You know Jesus wasn’t everyones friend. He had a best friend, John, He had 3 close friends Peter James and John, He had 12 that he called disciples or friends, he had 72 that were other disciples… more like business associates, and he had 120 that were on the outskirts but followers. Now he had thousands that wanted his attention… but he never felt pressured to break out of those circles. Every friendship, acquaintance and person he met fit his purpose. You should try it!
Number 3
- do what you’re good at and leave the rest behind…
Here is a secret to be good at something means you must first be bad at it. I know people say if you love what you do you will never work another day of your life…. ok, but what if what you love doesn’t pay the bills. And honestly, skill trumps passion. I would rather do what I am skilled at, good at, then simply what I love… So I gotta know what I am good at before I worry about what I am passionate about…. look right now I don’t know anyone who is hiring for people who want back rubs while listening to 80’s hair metal and eating donuts…SO IT LOOKS LIKE IM GONNA STARVE… but what am I passionate about… Can I get good at it? Because typically what I am passionate about I get good at and I fall in love with. You study the disciples lives and they were not good at being followers of Jesus. Arguing, fighting, posturing who is better more liked, who will sit with the Jesus in heaven, can’t heal people, doubt Jesus, forget his works… They sucked at being disciples… but they were passionate about it… and in time they got good at it and fell in love with it and even gave up their lives for it.
So there you go, Say no, make friendships purposeful, and find your passion… and impact awaits!

As a long time, forever, follower of Christ… I mean I started following Jesus at the age of 4… I many times sit back and contemplate… why is my Christian walk not easier… when does the massive breakthrough happen when life does not get me down, and circumstances no longer push my buttons… when I no longer wrestle with my flesh… when do I just feel happy and joyful and full of wonder…
I guess I want to a finish line. Break the tape and enjoy the spoils of this journey.
However I must remember that being a Christ follower is understanding I must embrace the daily conflict of spiritual war. Ephesians 6 talks about the perils of spiritual warfare and how we must be on our guard 24/7. So what gives… how can we ever find peace when in war?
This may sound strange to some unless you have actually been in war. I have friends who were in the Vietnam war and they would say that in the midst of hell on earth many times after a fire fight, they would enjoy the peace of night… the pitter patter of rain… it was almost like the war made times where there was no gunfire or madness even more intensely calm and … might I say it even enjoyable. They say
Scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue. You can enjoy the strength that pain brings even more when the pain has left. But you still gotta go through the pain… Accept the pain, learn -move on and be thankful for the extra strength… and keep warring on!
God does promise us rest in the midst of trial… but that doesn’t mean that trial ends… we just simply get a break at times in God.
If you read all of Ephesians 6 you get a wave of insight and emotion that prepares you for war… I always hear Eminems song lose yourself when I read that portion of scripture
Look
If you had
One shot
Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
In one moment
Would you capture it
Or just let it slip?
Yo
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
You know but the lyrics are out of Ephesians 6
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,
Ok, Im not Eminem… im not even milk chocolate… but the point is at the end of this chapter The apostle Paul says peace to all those in the faith.
Its like a parody in a movie… someone hands you a gun and says “there gonna try to kill you, don’t die, keep your head down… oh and have fun and peace”.
Really?
Men if you are not involved war then you are not growing. If you are not growing you are not leading and if you are not leading then you are following when you are following you are at the mercy of whomever is leading… and they might never give you a rest.
War, Rest and then War on!

Everyone likes affirmation, but what we need is validation. You can be told your a good driver (wether you are or are not) but validation comes from authority. You get a drivers license and you are now validated. It doesn’t matter if your neighbor, friend, teacher, boss or even parent thinks you are a bad driver… you have been validated by THE authority… the DMV.
Every movement in the world today clamors for validation (BLM, LGBQT, Feminism, global warming pick a topic - pick a soap box etc…) Many get affirmation… from politicians, a whole lot from the media and entertainment… but affirmation falls short of what they really want and really need. And when affirmation seems to fall short and they never truly get what matters - that is the fathers validation they then roar against those who do not affirm them and even get angry at those who do have the fathers validation.
65% of the the average Black family households have one parent. 25% of White family have only one parent. 45% of hispanic families have one parent.
And the father project reports that even when a father is present in body, many of them are absent in engagement. It is almost worse because the father is there but doesn’t care enough to engage in love, affection, conversation or even in attendance to life moments in the child’s life. In any case there are millions of kids growing up without affirmation, let alone validation.
Obviously its great when you have your fathers affirmation and validation… but what even trumps that is your heavenly fathers validation…
because once you have the fathers validation you don’t care who affirms you.
When Jesus was asked to teach us to pray he said pray like this, “Dear Daddy”
God is our Daddy, Daddy validated his love for us because well he is THEE authority and he also gave us the ultimate license… it was Christ on the cross. You know when you get pulled over you show your valid drivers license…. well when any doubt comes into your mind wether or not god loves you (i.e. your Daddy) just pull out Jesus on the cross… yea, here’s my validation. He put his son on the cross to show me how much he loves me.
When you want to really up your game in the daddy validation department just start reading scripture in the New Testament and replace Gods name with Daddy.
Romans 8:31 If God be fore us who can stand against us. If Daddy is for me, who can be against us.
John 3:16 For Daddy loved me so much that he gave his one and only son to die for my sins.
1 Cor. 3:16 Do you not know you are Daddy’s temple and the spirit of Daddy dwells inside you.
1 John 4:16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him
Ok, I think you get it. So now act like it. I can honestly say that I never actually had a problem with peer pressure growing up. I was never tempted to do drugs, drink, party etc… the simple fact was that I knew my parents loved me and for some reason it just was more than enough to allow me to say no to stupid things. Now 50 plus years later I can say the same thing about how Gods love works in my life… he is my Daddy. Im good with that and what anyone else thinks doesn’t add or detract from that validation.

Lets get deep for a moment shall we? I believe self responsibility is the key to a deep and meaningful spiritual walk with God. And it is also the reciprocal action to one who has a deep relationship with God. What I mean is, the more you take responsibility in who, how, why, when, where you build your spiritual walk the more you in fact want to look at those and build them even more. The fact is a responsible life builds a greater life that is responsible.
Its this simple…
Can you agree with these statements
I am responsible for my prayer life
I am responsible for the depth of my prayer life
I am responsible for my time in Gods word
I am responsible for how well I know Gods word
I am responsible for my lack of obedience to God
I am responsible for not listening to God
I am responsible for the lack of growth in my spouse and kids lives…
I am responsible for the lack of Gods power I see in my life
I am responsible for my behavior when it does not line up with Gods word or character
I am responsible for my actions, reactions and responses
I am responsible for an attitude and mindset that does not line up with Gods word
Why are these so hard to accept? Because its all on us. As soon as I read these I want to line up a few excuses and let myself off the hook… but responsibility in my walk with God does not let me do that.
You know its a proven fact that those who accept the problems in their life and take responsibility for them also accept and take responsibility for their successes and their wins.
What’s the point?
Scripture is so clear: Joshua says in Joshua 24:15 Choose ye this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house we will serve the lord. Joshua is stating the spiritual wins and losses in his life are due to the choices he has made.
Just by uttering those words I am confessing I will be held responsible for my whole life… it must look like it is serving God in every area.
Prov. 28:13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
The hard truth is this, if I am unwilling to take responsibility for my spiritual walk, then I don’t really want a deep and meaningful spiritual walk. I must realize that I have chosen to be content with a half way, watered down, luke warm pansy wanna be poser Christian life. And worse yet, why would you want that? Why talk of day dreams but live in nightmares.
G.K. Chesterton — 'The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.'
Another great philosopher said “with great power comes great responsibility” Thank you uncle Ben from spiderman… but that is actually backwards. The biblical truth is that with great responsibility comes great power… and a pretty good walk with God as well.
Responsibility is not finding all the things we are bad at and just simply accepting them - thats just fault finding. Responsibility is knowing what in our life does not line up with Gods word - yes in every area of our life - and choosing to go to God with it, confess it, ask for his Holy Spirit to empower you to move on and make a plan to do just that.
Do you want to change your life? Responsibility is the only way out.
