Well Garth that’s just talking to pastors or people in ministry….
you are in ministry, you are a pastor…
1 Peter 2:9 You are a priest…
YOu must manage, you must preside, you must teach, you must do all the roles you long for and even if you don’t… you still have to do them as the head of the household.
Have you ever been in the position where you are given the lead, the person in charge, the CEO the boss…. and you quickly realize- I don’t want this. This is not what I signed up for, this is not what I want. But you as the husband… The house/Band you keep the house together. You keep everything together… You signed up for it… so trust God and move forward.
I was not trained in how to deal with a rebellious son, I was not trained in how to deal with a divorce in our family, I was not trained in how to deal with a wife who has an autoimmune disease, I was not trained in how to be a husband, father and son while battling cancer… but thats the role I have been given.
Matthew 25:14 the parable of the talents… one gets 5, one gets 2 and one gets 1…. God required responsibility and management over each amount - there was no “oh you only got one talent. well you get a pass for blowing it off… If you have just a wife or just one kid or maybe you are single… God requires the same responsibility and management over each life.
Luke 12:48 to whom much is given, much is required…
I don’t know any greater amount to be given than a child… It is a direct gift from the Lord… how well are you managing that gift?
Your role is to manage, to lead, to inform, teach and protect your family. Your wife, your child… Their response to your leadership is not up to you, you are simply called to lead. Are world is lacking Godly men to lead, to manage at work and at home, with kids and wives, with bosses and neighbors -

Hey just a heads up…. I am seriously thinking of switching up my podcast into one 30-40 minute audio and video podcast. I might then take that podcast and cut it up into small fragments for the online and radio sections I do… but I would love to hear what the audience thinks, so hit me up.
The bible is full of verses about the husband being over the wife, over the kids, raising up Godly kids, loving his wife like Jesus…
When you are the head of something at first it seems like a good thing, maybe a great thing… “im in charge”. Im the man… I have the authority….Very true
But remember being over something means you still have a higher authority, you still have to answer to someone. I remember at a greenhouse I worked at during college… Buesses flowers - shout out - and Mr. Busse put me over 2 other college kids… and mostly because I did not do drugs… and they not only did drugs, but they did them while at work in the back greenhouse… anyway…. After the day was over he called me back to the far back greenhouse… He did not call the other two, he called me. He told me what I did wrong, what I did right, and what I could improve on… he didn’t not tell the other 2 employees I was over what they did wrong OR what was done wrong… he told me. I was in charge.
Why are young men in todays world struggling, dropping out of HS at records levels… living at home, playing video games, lack of self esteem and work ethic… afraid to talk to the opposite sex… hooked on porn and no depth of discipline or understanding of what God expects and who he is… Young girls sleeping with anyone that they seem attracted to or feels like they owe them …. no big deal. Young women bragging on body counts, thinking life is about their body shape and breast size, why women are dehumanizing the role of a man, literally saying they don’t need a man. Women who will use abortion as birth control… why are kids under 30 yelling and screaming about life not fair, they deserve more… yet they lack a work ethic, kindness is now weakness…ok I could go on forever… but why? WELL LETS CHECK IN WITH THE AUTHORITY… What have Dads been doing that past 50 years? they have proven a lack of depth in seeking God, putting themselves first, jump at divorce, lack of work ethic on their marriage, suck as a father, selfish, wishy washy and afraid to take a stand for morality…
I blame the lack of fathers more than I blame todays generation..im not saying their behavior is acceptable… but when a kid throws a temper tantrum in the store yelling and screaming… you don’t blame the kid, you blame the parent.
To be the leader men must do 3 things seen in scripture… its not rocket science… but it is mandatory - and you will be held responsible.
Lead your Family (Ephesians 5:23)
Seek God, hear his voice, do what he says and lead your family. And if Mama and the kids don’t like it, to bad… You are the man of God, Lead your family. But trust me, you better be seeking, reading praying listening and and doing the word of God.
Lead first in your personal life, then in your work life then in your church life… your example is the power.
Look why would they follow you if you are failing at hearing and doing… but if you are - then they will look the fool for not listening and doing.
Love your Wife (Ephesians 5:25)
This has no fine print… your wife might have put on 30 pounds, 75 pounds or 175 pounds. She may not like sex, she may not have a job, she may spend money like water… she may not be a follower of Christ… there is no prerequisite to this command. Love your wife - Period. Now it will be a lot easier if… she’s beautiful? NO… she treats me well? NO… she likes sex? No…. it will be easier if you first love Jesus and seek his power to do the impossible. We love quoting verses about Gods power to heal, deliver, save, speak words of prophecy…. but some of you need his power to love your wife. It ain’t easy, but it is a command and very possible… in fact doable if you seek Gods strength.
Teach and lead Their Children (Ephesians 6:4)
Well this means your kids gotta spend time with Dad… Dads gotta talk, listen, not judge, talk, listen, guide, teach, share, give insights from his past… and more than anythings he must give physical affection and live a God centered life.
Kids don’t want to listen to a loser father… does that offend you? Tough… eat those words and live your potential as a follower of Jesus.
Look its not easy being a man… especially in todays world… you get told its toxic, its demeaning, its bullying, its close-minded… and look where its got us.
Read, pray, seek God, listen, obey and be a man.

Luke 6:43 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
v. 43 Bad GK Sapron - worn out, rotted
oh a bad tree produces fruit… but its worn out, rotted fruit. Of no value.
But wait… look at v. 45 Bad fruit from evil treasure in his heart GK Slothful causing degenerative break down… it rots so as to become evil.
THE RESULT
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. (what is the rock? it is Gods word in action - listens to his word and does them) 49 But he who heard and did nothing (sloth) is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell (sloth built the house. and it breaks down - no good fruit here) … And the ruin of that house was great.” (what does that mean? it affected everyone)
How many girls and women right now are sleeping around like it is the thing that is acceptable, the thing to do, the right thing, the normal thing - even if you are a Christian it is seen as what you can get away with… because Dad didn’t build the house - and the whole family is breaking down.
How many boys are lost… no real vision for life, no real direction, no real drive, no real spiritual interest… suffering with a lack of knowledge and know how to run a relationship, a business, their checkbook their habits and choices… because Dad did not build the house… Dad did not put the word of God into action.
I got a question for you? Are you a a bad bush? V. 44 did your kids grow up wanting to eat the richness of grapes only to find briars. Men it is time to wake up… there is no secret formula, just read Gods word, and do it! Find a mentor who will help you…or you will continue to watch your whole world and your family wash away in the coming storms of life.

There was a series of commercials years ago… and the jingle was “what would you do for a Klondike bar”. But todays question is a little deeper… what would you do for a drink of water…
Ok, I can admit that I like Klondike bars… I have eaten 5 at once… Hey I was in my 20’s and had been waterskiing all day long and they went down easy… and not an ounce of fat was left on me! But what would I do for water? Well If I am truly thirsty… I would imagine I would do a few things that I might not normally do… if I am dying of thirst, then I would probably do just about anything…
But what if the circumstances were… I am thirsty… not dying of thirst… but I could go for a drink of water, but not just any water the water from my homeland spring… It would kind of be like saying “In not starting but boy could I go for some of my mom’s pasta right about now”. Now When David says this in 2 Samual 23… he has his men over hear him… and this is what happens.
2 Samuel 23:15 And David said with longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 16 So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord.
And you think you got friends… sure maybe, but not break through the philistines lines, in hand to hand combat, kill people and risk your life for water type of friends. And yet how many of us want exactly those type of friends…
but today more than wanting that type of friend - why not WANT TO BE KNOWN as that type of friend. I do have a few friends like that… but more than anything want to be known as that type of friend.
yeah, I get it… I can’t be that way to everyone, and there are some who would abuse that type of friendship… but I want to know my friends wants and needs - and again not from them asking me for stuff, but just knowing what they are going through - so that I can help meet those needs even when it might cost me my life.
But there is still a greater message here. Water is the symbol of life, water is who Jesus is… he is the river of life, John 14: 6 he is the living water… and he was willing to lay down his life for us to receive it.
Are you willing to lay down your life for others to have living water? Even though they may not receive it… are you willing? Are you doing? Are you pursuing? Is it costing you?
I admire people who will take one on the chin for sharing jesus, I admire people who are willing to sacrifice and give in the name of the gospel, I admire people who are not ashamed to be verbally crucified in the media for sharing their faith and speaking the truth.
So the question is… if that is the case… do i admire you?

Joe Klecko who was just recently inducted into the football hall of fame… he was elected into the pro bowl playing 3 different positions… never been done before or since… but in his hall of fame speech he said my son Dan has won 3 Super Bowl rings, he reminds me all the time… he’s a great player… and then he looks at his bust next to him on stage and says “hey Dan, lets see if you can get one of those.
Every year I watch the NFL HOF inductees and listen to their speeches… and everyone, I mean EVERY ONE, talks about hard work, dedication, team work… but the one thing they all say it hangs on is…. Well you do want to know right? I mean if we can tap into what makes the greatest of the greatest athletes… and we can translate it into our lives be it family, business, health, finances whatever… ok, all these things are great but they all hinge on personal responsibility - taking credit for your mistakes and your wins. Being willing to own up and work on your flaws, your blond spots, your weaknesses….
Mines a great psychiatrist. Thomas says there’s no such thing as mental illness. They were merely varying degrees of irresponsibility, and John Tim Maloy is booklet for success to the one big difference between winners and losers and he said that’s not mince words - losers Never accept responsibility and winners always.
Your study of negative emotions we found it almost all anger or frustration or hostility, comes from the attempt to blame others for problems in our lives rather than excepting responsibility. In fact, if you stop blaming other people you’ll find that most of your negative emotions will go away if you stop blaming your past and stop blaming your present. Stop blaming your parents and your boss and your relationships. You’ll find that it’s almost impossible to become angry. the way you stop blaming is by taking responsibility.
But here is the key to understanding taking responsibility. Its uncomfortable… look its easier to blame others. Its easier to tell the world it must change in order for your life to be better… but its just not the case. Taking responsibility is simply choosing to be uncomfortable through the stages of learning, applying and working at life. Simply said “its got to be uncomfortable to be great”. If you are not willing to take responsibility, you are unwilling to be great.
Rom. 5:3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
v. 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that we can blame others and gripe about how life is unfair knowing God will make things easier for us… uh NO!
The word there “develop” in the greek actually means to work out through labor. This is so easy to understand it hurts to listen to stupid people when they say life not fair. TRUE life is not fair for anyone… but many still choose to work out through labor, to persevere, take responsibility and move forward.
Let me be frank - now is the time to succeed regardless your age… but especially if you are under 40, because those under 40 are rife with excuses and pandering to their woes and foibles… they will give up, whine, blame… all the while those who are willing to take responsibility will advance step by step moving closer and closer to success in most areas of there life.
Persevere, pursue, own up to it and keep pushing forward.

Matthew 6:33 SEEK ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
I have a solid belief that anyone can become successful, wealthy and even Godly if they are willing to put in the work. I love what Wallace D Wattle says.. and I quote:
Man has an inherent power by which he may grow in whatsoever direction he pleases, and there does not appear to be any limit to the possibilities of his growth. Wallace D Wattle
Now there are 2 sides to this camp. There are many out there who believe much like I do in that God gives us an ability to do and be great. And in fact wants us to do and be great. There are others who feel like its to ambitious and God is not a magic genie who just hands out free wishes… and I agree, he is first to be sought after like the verse says… he and his righteousness is to be pursued at all costs… but what is interesting to me regarding this verse is no one ever reads the verse beforehand… verse 32. Listen to verses 32-24
Matthew 6:32For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.…
First off, what do the heathen or the gentiles strive for? Well if you are a Jew in the audience you are thinking that a gentile is after wealth, prestige, power, money, affluence, greatness - call it what you will… and Jesus says “all this will be added unto you” if you first seek me and my ways. What does seek his kingdom mean? it means seek Gods way of doing things.
Last week I was praying about what to do and what to keep in my extra businesses. I love to stay busy and even though I am a full time pastor I also have a few other businesses and ventures that I do. So I was asking God after a conversation with a friend of mine… God if there is something that You do not want me wasting my time on. just let me know… The very next day one of my sites goes down, I can’t figure it out, my web designer can’t figure it out, no one can figure it out and God said to me “I want that gone”. poof, no problem God. Now in the past when I wasn’t seeking Gods will and way first that would have driven me nuts… I would not stop until I figured it out… but when you seek God and his righteousness and his kingdom first… you can let things go. Now what does he want me to do? Well… I am still praying on what to keep and what to get rid of and in fact what to start up next… what about you? Are you striving in vain simply because you are not allowing your wants and desires for his kingdom to pave the way for all the other things you want and need? Why not try today to first seek him, let him take care of your needs and desires and all those other things… because as he says, they will be given unto you.

You want to know more about God, have more of him in your life, be moved by him more, be used by him more… Get your mind up in heaven - thats where God is.
Christ Mindsets
Christ mind looks out for others first
Phil. 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

We understand that we are to please him by that which we do not see (Faith)
2 cor. 5: 6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing. 8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.
A mind that first wants to seek God
Phil. 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
A mind that is focused on Gods plan for each individual. What does he want YOU to do.
2 Cor. 9: 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.
A mind that reflects Gods heart
1 Cor. 13:5 It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
A mind that understands the plans of the wicked
Matthew 9:4 Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts?
A mind that is under constant renewal/transformation
Rom. 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
A mind that is not easily fooled
Galatians 6:3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

A mind that is of one mind
James 1:8 a Double minded man, Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
It doesn’t mean you can’t do 2 things, or 3 things… or even 4 things, what it does mean is make sure what you are doing is what God wants you to do. or you will have your mind cluttering up his mind.
A mind that keeps Gods priorities… people need Jesus. (when you get to heaven there is a good chance you will think of those who did not make it to heaven)
Colossians 3:2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
A mind that brings peace
1 Tim. 6:5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth.
