What does a mechanic do?
What does a ballerina do?
What does a chef do?
What does a NFL receiver do?
What does a crab fishermen do?
What does a Christian do?
What does a disciple do?
The term discipleship never occurs in the Bible… and it can be very overdressed or underdressed in English.
Only the word DISCIPLE -
So with no clear form or function what is discipleship… are we disciples if we don’t know what discipleship is?
NOTE: The danger is dressing up what “discipleship” is when we are simply called to be disciples. Nuanced? Yes… but worth a closer look at.
HOWEVER…
Mathetuo- make disciples. Matt. 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

**Discipleship is life on life. Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well” (1 Thessalonians 2:8).
What is the fruit of discipleship?… well we may think short sided like saying “to be more like Jesus”… but what does that mean?
He made more disciples… that in and of itself might be the one missing key ingredient in our lives.
To think that discipleship is simply knowing more of the Bible…
OR
Being kinder, sweeter, sin less and less…
Still misses the point of who Jesus was and what he did: if we are to mimic him!
He was Gospel, he lived the gospel, he came to seek and save the lost. If discipleship does not move into that on a regular basis… you are not a true disciple.
Our motive is always to share the gospel/make disciples.
Yesterday at the gym… I had a water bottle. But the young kid said hey you brought a water bottle you don’t have to borrow one of ours…. Long story short I said Im not worried about getting sick - he said you are probably immortal - and I said WHY YES I AM - DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? …do you see where this is going?

Col. 1:9, 10 some tings are just not understood unless spiritually
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
How do know his will?
How do you make decisions?
How do you know right and wrong?
How do you know what to do when both options seem right?
What do you do when you feel like the right decision is the wrong decision?
Paul is stating a principle for life… WE NEED KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM THROUGH THE UNDERSTANDING HIS SPIRIT GIVES. and not just general decision… yes we need to seek God on day to day big decisions, but at the same time understand that it is the small decisions that push us in the direction of our full time life direction.
When I was a sophomore in high school I had a crappy stereo. I love music, still do… and my best friends dad who had a killer massive stereo system was selling it at a really good price. This was 4 speakers, dual cassette deck, a balanced turntable, equalizer and to top it off a wood case for the stereo…. A Gusendorf to be precise.
My mom and dad said NO. not now, too much. I tried my best to tell them it was a STEAL… they did not care.
Does God care if you get a stereo? Does he care if you spend to much?
A friend of mine told me a story of a young newly married man who came to church and asked for prayer… he needed a vehicle to get to and from work… his died. The next week he came into church and was bragging about the new truck he got… My friend said, that’s not Gods will… I asked him how he knew that… he said because God told me to give him mine… and he pulled out his title and then slipped it back into his pocket.
God cares about the small decision, the middle decisions, the medium decisions, the massive decisions and the seemingly non-consequential decisions. BUT YOU GOTTA MAKE THEM TUNED INTO THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GODS WISDOM.
Mans wisdom does not cut it… you know scientists back in the day said… even if we could create a car that went 100mph it would not be safe for humans… because if you stuck your head out the window to breathe your lungs would blow up….
Ahhh mans wisdom is folly.
Seek his voice, seek his wisdom and be willing to make mistakes following his lead. That is how you learn to distinguish Gods wisdom and yours.

I am not married yet… but I am thankful for Gods process that will make me more like him and give him glory!
**You will yield to the process of God in order to become a part of his work. You are thanking him for what you are going through, for what you need and the process behind it, because the process is making you more like him and making him look good. - i.e. glorifying God.
- 1 THANKS FOR NOTHING… Luke 9:16 15K mouths to feed!
And Jesus took the loaves and the fishes; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the

- 2 THANKS FOR DEAD THINGS

- 3 THANKS A MILLION
In his lifetime, David never lost a battle. He was consistently victorious because the supernatural was always at work in his favor. David always intentionally gave thanks to God. David was constantly in the sanctuary… but most of the times it was for thanksgiving and not prayer!
- 4 THANKSGIVING REFILLS AND REFUELS
PETER AND JOHN ARE FLOGGED BY THE PHARISEES AND THEY GIVE THANKS THAT THERE WERE COUNTED WORTHY….
- when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is...And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with BOLDNESS. 5 - Thanksgiving causes the supernatural to show up.
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands
were loosed (Acts 16:25, 26).
6 The ultimate THANKSGIVING
Luke 22:14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
Thanks GK 2168 euxaristéō (from 2095 /eú, "good" and 5485/xaris, "grace") – properly, acknowledging that "God's grace works well," i.e. for our eternal gain and His glory; to give thanks – literally, "thankful for God's good grace.”
Grace is His Process - its best for us and makes him look good. Glorifies him.

Is it possible for something that is meant for good to be bad? Or for something meant for bad to be good? I don’t mean like “oh bro that’s bad… or sarcastically “oh well that’s good”. I mean can a good thing actually end up being a bad thing… it can if we don’t give thanks.
THANKFULNESS immediately breaks that.

Luke 17:19
Ten Lepers Cleansed
11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
HIS THANKFULNESS OPENED THE DOOR TO HIS FAITH BEING REWARDED.
Have you ever caught yourself stating the fact that you have faith to get a better job. You quote verses, you pray prayers of faith… and you are building your faith… But thankfulness celebrates the process. Now your faith is activated in the supernatural and eternal realm.
He went from healing to wholeness, salvation.
*Samaritans and Jews were not on good terms. They were always at each other and chippy, bad attitudes. The Samaritan could have easily felt like he deserved this healing… it would have been hard for him to give thanks to a Jew.
INSIGHTS
A LACK OF THANKFULNESS IN THE OT… BROUGHT A CURSE ON WHAT GOD MEANT FOR GOOD!
And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, (THANK YOU FOR THE PROCESS) saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do (Malachi 2:1, 2).
- We must take it to heart to continually walk in thanksgiving. WE ARE NOT under the law, failure to give thanks to God brings us back under the law.
Thanks giving brings about supernatural results, and a solution to every circumstance. Jesus gave thanks in seemingly hopeless situations

What is irritating your right now?
Is it someone?
Is it a personal issue?
Is it a financial issue?
Is it a work situation?
Is it an unmet desire or need?
It will continue to bother you until you begin to thank God for the process!
It will turn into resentment, hurt, anger, bitterness and invite demonic activity into your life…
BUT
THANKFULNESS immediately breaks that.
I am not married yet… but I am thankful for Gods process that will make me more like him and give him glory!

You can’t serve Mammon and God. Mammon there is never enough… you lose the vision for thankfulness.
Mammon/ Money and the security and comfort it brings. It is a demon.
A lack of Thankfulness limits your faith. It parks your faith until something happens… but that’s now how faith works.
1 Tim. 6:6-10
“Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money (the worship of money) is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
WHAT IS THE LOVE OF MONEY?
IT IS TRUSTING MONEY AS THE ANSWER TO THE PROCESS… RATHER THAN GOD.
Mammon is a demon: Anything that trys to get you to worship anything other than Jesus is a demonic spirit.

Psalm 100 I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart I will enter his court with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice for he has made me glad…. But just before that the verse says WE ARE HIS PEOPLE THE SHEEP OF HIS PASTURE. Why do sheep ever the courtyard and into the gate? TO BE SACRIFICED.

Thankfulness is a big deal in the Bible. In fact, it’s one of the few specific things that we’re told is God’s will for us (1 Th 5:18)
*In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God. Praying without ceasing for this is the will of God, In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ concerning you.
NOT for everything, BUT IN EVERYTHING
Gods will is to always give thanks.
What’s the difference between W, P & T?
Worship - for who God is. He is worthy.
Praise - for what he has done and what he will do.
Thankfulness - Stating God is the process of faith.
*When we thank God all of heaven and eternity join our side… because they see us acknowledge the process is Gods design.
Thank him for what he did (the process we now see looking back),
thank him for what he is doing (The process we trust him for at this time), and
thank him for what he has done (as if the process is completed) it is the period to your faith.
It destroys the “prayer request” mentality.
Acknowledging what is right and complete about God in thanksgiving.
***Simply put - Thanksgiving is stating God is the process… YOU ARE THE PROCESS!!
BUT WAIT THERES MORE…. Yes most of us have done this and do this….
But the power of thanksgiving is when we thank him for the process that is taking place over the things in our life that are not good, wonderful or enjoyable or even understandable.

2 Cor. 9:19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
I become all things to all people to preach the gospel.
This is not Paul becoming tolerant of others beliefs or lifestyles… because we know that his purpose was to preach the gospel which is very offensive to most - if he was to be be tolerant he would never preach the gospel so hard and clearly.
Here is a thought… Tolerance is the opposite of repentance. This why the world loves tolerance and hates the gospel. The world has no problem with Gods love… but when you start to preach repentance …well hold on to your seat its about to get rough.
Second thought…. Evil doesn’t stop itself! Paul became all things to all people to step right into the face of evil… remember as he was becoming all things to all people these same people were beating him, stoning him, whipping him, slandering him… he faced off and stepped into hostile territory regularly. He knew that just simply being a good christian is not enough… evil is not a spinning top where in time it will just wind down… it will never wind down until God comes back in the second coming.
Final thought… Paul became all thing to all people to encourage them towards christ. Encouragement is one of the best tools in evangelism. Lets take one of the Hottest most explosive areas in todays world and look at it evangelistically - I was talking to a transgender person about a year ago. They were in my office hanging out after a wedding I had performed. They were the son of the woman getting married… however it was a she. “She came right out and told me she was transgender”. We small talked for a few minutes and I calmly and sweetly told her that I am so impressed by people who are willing to do anything in order to find peace and fulfillment… even if it meant doing drastic things… but I said one thing I have learned is that the only way to have peace, and fulfillment and to really feel like you are who you were created to be is to surrender your life to Jesus and ask him to take control of your life… it was a great conversation.
They did not feel hated or judged and they truly felt cared for all the while knowing where I started. I encouraged them if they did not find peace pursing another gender to try Jesus.

Psalm 127
Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.
Interesting scripture…. What are we missing in todays world? Hard work.
This verse is not implying we don’t have to work hard if we just rely on God… no we obviously must labor. But we must learn to work in regards to Gods direction.
There’s an interesting play on words here between Children and labor and arrows, but that’s for another podcast.
But lets get back to hard work. It is a must, it is a requirement and in fact the Bible also says if a man does not work he should not eat 2 Thessalonians 3:10
What is missing in todays world for a lot of people and men especially? Is hard work. But this Psalm says if a man labors and God does not build then he is laboring in vain. So what do we know… we gotta put in the work…
But the word build has a dual meaning… it means unless God owns the house and unless he fashioned it - you are wasting your time. You will never rest.
Remember the curses in Get. 3 God told Adam you will work the ground by the sweat of your brow… that word there is
Curses… Zey-ah sweat of my brow… You work your butt off, but its not enough. I remember playing basket ball as a high schooler on a hot sunny day at our Christian camp. I was a good player, I had a game, but I was playing against some killers… and girls were watching… and no matter how hard I played and yes scored… it was never enough. At one point I just leaned over sweat pouring from my head down on my face… feeling it trickle… and just wondering… will we ever get ahead? Will we ever win?
The curse Zey-ah things will never be enough, work will never be over. You will never feel like you have arrived.
John D. Rockefeller, the founder of the Standard Oil Company, the first billionaire of the United States of America and once the richest man on Earth was asked by a reporter, “How much money is enough?” He calmly replied, “Just a little bit more”.
It doesn’t sound like he has rest… But God can give you rest, if you let him fashion the work… it starts by him taking the curse… cursed is he who hangs on a tree… he took our curse. So why do so many people still feel like they are under the curse of Zey-ah? Because they have not asked God to be the designer of their work… to be the one who fashions what they do. To plan it, to give it rhythm to give it purpose beyond money. Do you feel like its never over? Step out of the curse and ask God to design your life for you.

The greatest talent or gifting is…. Walk on water? Raise the dead? Hear God audibly….
Buying tires for my gym….Why are we even talking… this is a no brainer….
What is most important and overlooked things about being used by God… being available.
Everyone in the Bible greatly used had one thing in common -They were available…
I know its painfully obvious… but here is the question we all need to answer
ARE YOU AVAILABLE.
Do you have time to serve God, are you willing to sacrifice time to serve God. Is your time, your talent and your treasure available to God.
What is keeping your from serving God? Bible knowledge? Super spiritual spidy senses, powerful ministry, the right church or network…. Probably not.
Bob Goff puts it this way: "God often uses the least qualified, most available people to get things done." Like Peter, the other disciples and many others whom God has used, availability was an initiator for God to great things through their life.
Lets be honest when God chose disciples did he really pick the best? NOPE… not even close. But he picked those that were seeking him and available to his call.
Have you ever met someone who makes you feel like an inconvenience? Like… can you stop bothering me… I do not have time for you or this crap… you are not important. YEah that person. Wouldn’t it be terrible if we we’re that person to God? Is your attitude to God one of carelessness or irritability or even disdain…
Look if you wanna talk about someone who went out of their way and became available… look no further than Jesus. Talk about an inconvenience… Can you hear him speak to the father… “wait what? You want me to do what? And like really become a human? For real? No no no… not going to happen. I got things to do Father… Im important I have important things to do.
Not funny but funny. But its slaps us in the face… we need to be available the way Jesus was available. Next time you are asked to do something by the Holy Spirit or even a person… make yourself available and you might be surprised at how able you really are!

- 3 Prepare for a tornado, snow storm, Hurricane… water purifier, food, heat, network with others, solar power?
**Is this fear? No, The Bible says if you are here during the end of time, the tribulation run to the hills Matthew 24:16-20
We have our own terrorists in our country, be prepared, be vigilant, be aggressive, be prayed up, be evangelistic, be loving. Be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves.
