When will Jesus be coming back? Well we don’t have the actual date, but we do know the time… you might think that doesn’t make sense but it will when I read you this out of Matthew 24. Again, we won’t know when but we will know the time.
Matthew 24 3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
The signs are everywhere. Record amount of weather actions around the world. Wars, rumors of wars… every day… not just country against country, but wars within nations regarding morals, governments, powers, money…
Many claiming to have the answer… politicians, kings, presidents, monarchs, business moguls…
Famines, floods, faithlessness,
People will slowly grow cold to the gospel, evil will become attractive….
And Jesus says don’t be deceived
GK = Lead, swoon you to sway away slowly…
lead aside from the rigid way.
There is only one way - Jesus. Following scripture. And if you don’t follow that you will be led astray… you will grow cold.
So what is one to do? Stay hot. Stay next to Jesus. How do you stay hot for Jesus… and not for teacher… Sorry I’m a Van Halen fan…
Most would guess I am going to say Read your bible, pray, go to church, go to bible studies, stay accountable. Etc…
And thats all good, but let me give you two quick easy and effective ways to stay HOT
truth is the best way to stay hot is simply obedience.
Obeying Gods voice in you when he speaks to you… that means what you see and read in scripture you obey. That means what you hear him tell you to do, you do. It is obedience on all fronts. You obey your authorities, you obey your spouse, you obey your pastor, you obey scripture and his inner voice speaking to you. And secondly is measure your success.
Hey people don’t like to be measured when it comes to their Christianity or their walk- it seems like works or like like you are bragging about how well you did… but the truth be told - the best way to achieve better behavior is to reward current good behavior.
And in fact… it is what God does… You remember the parable of the talents… right the guy who did good, got rewarded with more… This is simply measuring your success.
So how many of your prayers have been answered? How many people have you witnessed to, how many have accepted Christ? How much have you given above and beyond your tithe of 10% of your income? How have you treated your spouse compared to last year? How much scripture have you memorized?
YOU SAY… sounds like works.
I SAY… sounds like measured success… and when I do that I get a pretty good measure of wether or not I am getting colder or bolder for Jesus.

What do you need in your body right now? Pete Cabrera gave me an insight and I have chewed on it for a few weeks now…
He said A woman can create a human in her own body. She gets pregnant and she grows a human…
Quick question… what in your body do you need new again?
Sometimes we think it is hard for God to do a miracle in us… but what if we just simply needed to believe he could grow something new in us like a mother does. Right?
A woman has everything in her to grow a baby. She needs no education, no money, no special privilege, no special diet, no doctor, no medicine, no weather pattern has to line up, she does not need to read any books or go to a class… she needs nothing… her body can do it all on her own… She can make a life. In that life is a person with healthy bones, tissue, hearing, fingers, ligaments, tendons, muscles, vertebra etc… so if her body can produce all new body parts so can mine… but what she does need is the seed from a man. What I need to create healing in my body, new organs, tissue, muscles, tendons, hearing, discs, etc… is the seed of Gods word going into me.
What I need to grow super natural finances in my life, to grow supernatural anointing in my life, power, miracles, signs and wonders, what I need for wisdom beyond measure… I just need the seed, and I need it to fall on to good ground.
4 And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: 5 “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. 6 Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8 But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded [e]a crop a hundredfold.” When He had said these things He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

The Parable of the Sower Explained
11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 1
I started making a practice of listening to the words on God and reading the word of God with the faith that it is the seed going into my body to bring forth healing. That it is the seed to bring forth financial blessing in my body, that it is the seed to bring about supernatural wisdom for my business. It falls on good ground… how do I know it is good ground? Because it falls on ground that is expecting… expecting it to grow, to multiply and to bare a harvest.

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.
8 So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10 And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
18 And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”
19 And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. 20 But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”
21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. 22 But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless.

Waited for a guitar 7 months
Waited a year to marry my wife - to the day BTW.
Waited 5 years trying to have kids
There are things I am still waiting for…
Wheres God…? 400 years of silence…
400 years of silence.. God has not spoken to one prophet, one person one Pharisee or one Sadducee.
But when he does talks to a priest… old man…
And it seems as if God waited for the world to fall a part… like as if - lets wait for the world to start on fire before we hand out squirt guns.
What do you need before God brings you the best news ever?
What do you need in order to have your world changed?
Silence….
Maybe its that simple… in silence he is preparing you. Watching you… Are you faithful.
Zacharias gets the once in a lifetime job to burn incense in the temple in the Holy place just outside of the Holy of Holies. They take hot coals from the brazen altar and he then pours incense on the coals just outside of the curtain separating the holy of holies. The incense was for two reasons…
- One to cover up the smell of death… or a lack of life.
Let your prayers fill the void *fill the time - Jesus thanked God for 5 loaves and 2 fish… he was praying and giving thanks over the void.
- Secondly to illustrate the prayers going up to heaven like the lingering smoke from the incense. May your prayers be like sweet smelling incense before the Lord.
Zacharias is here… having lived a life of faithfulness in the midst of no children-no life. His prayers have long since stopped for kids… he is old now. But God heard them.
And times are dark… much like today. Its hard to live for God, much like today.
And who does God speak to? An elderly couple who have been faithful in spite of not having the desires of their hearts met and being looked down upon by society for not having the desires of their hearts met. (Not having kids many times was seen as a curse from God for sin in your life).
But when he speaks… When he does show up to the faithful…
He not only gives Zacharias a chance to be in the Holy place, but he gives him a word… not just a word, but a son.. not just a son but the greatest prophet up until Christ. He will set the stage!
Incense was made out of trees. You would cut it and the gum would flow out… you would than capture this, dry it and burn it for the sweet smell.
Zach stays faithful. Faithful beyond unanswered and unplanned things in life.
Zach has to wait… those that wait upon the Lord renew their strength.
Paul waited 13 years before he started his ministry.
Daniel waited 28 days for answered prayer
David waited 15 years before he became King
Moses waited 40 years to get to the promise land
I am 58 years in the waiting of Christ coming back…
**Zacharias has to wait a week before he can go home and tell his wife… and he is dumb and deaf.
HOW DOES ONE TELL HIS WIFE IN HER 70’S THAT HE IS GOING TO GET HER PREGNANT - WITH NO WORDS.
Zach continues on with his priestly duties: (1 Peter 2:9 We are all priests under the new covenant) we draw near to God, we distinguish what is right and wrong, we live as an example to the people, we work in the temple,
Zach Gets the word but not the answer and still doubts.
In the original Greek it does not read as much doubt into his response as much as he is asking for a sign. I believe you, but what sign can you give me. The angels response is literally earth shattering for all of us.
- Heres your sign - Because God said so!!!
I don’t need a sign when I have Gods word.
Zacharias gets rebuked and muted.
He is struck deaf and dumb.
Was this a punishment - possibly? But I also think it was a Godly reminder that he was invaded by the presence of God and given a word from heaven. Not being able to speak or hear anything to the contrary was confirmation that this was not just bad pizza, but a real encounter with God. And now he is all the more unable to speak doubt or hear doubt… maybe that is a lesson for us. When we encounter a word from God, an experience from God… he mutes our inner voice of doubt.
MAY WE PRAY WHEN WE HEAR FROM GOD - He mutes the world to our ears and mutes our tongue to confess otherwise.

James 4:8 draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh unto you…
This tiny little verse is so packed with insight and meaning. We can read it casually and miss it. It would be like dumping a big metal can of junk on the floor and noticing the pin from a grenade laying there… you might want to quickly take a look around to see if the grenade itself is there and if so… quickly put the pin back in… or just simply run.
We read this verse and smile and read on…
But this verse has an interesting twist to it. The word Draw nigh means simply… pay attention to the small detail of another person…
Pay attention to how God works in the little things in life. How he works in answered prayer or unanswered prayer… How does he see the unloved, how does he see the politicians.. how does he work in your finances.. how does he work in the broken father son relationship…
SOME OF THESE MIGHT BE YOUR OWN ISSUES, BUT MANY ARE OUTSIDE OF YOU.. but you are pushing in and paying attention to how God works… What is he really like.
So if you really pay attention to someone… really cue in on what they are about… they will do the same back to you. Now again plug this into your walk with God.
If you truly seek to understand Gods spirit, his word his cues, his motives, his handiwork behind the scenes… if you do that he will push into drawing near to you. He will pay you back in a sense by coming in close to you.
Have you ever been in a situation where you are cued into the minute details of a person… we were in a parking lot years ago in the inner city… and we are saw a van pull up with some guys in it… for about 45 minutes we were tuned in to their facial expressions, their conversations as they looked around. We tuned into the people who came up to the car… we looked at the people in the community who noticed the van… We knew something was going down… and guess what? A guy comes out of the van and walks over to our car… Im geared up ready to fight and protect my wife… He motions to me to roll down my window and I do… but my car is now running… I as tough as I can say “what do you want?”… he cracks his red leather jacket open with a police badge hanging on his neck and says… hey folks, It would be good if you drove away and parked somewhere else…
I was tuned into him for 45 minutes… I did not realize that he was just as tuned in to me and Kim and our safety.
Draw nigh to God…
He will draw nigh to you.

By honoring another you are saying you see great value in them.
Why is it hard to honor people…? Good question. I think it is because we sometimes fear we are not as important as others… and we deserve recognition. It is not so much that they are not important… as much as we don’t feel appreciated by others, by our family, church, work or life. So it is a hard pill to swallow for many when it comes to honor others.
How does honoring others help us? Well to be blunt, it helps us understand the pecking order of eternity. God is number one, those he created are number 2 and we are honoring God by honoring those he has created….
Let me put it this way…. I have always said the best way to love me is love my kids. I have had people I know, who love me, serve me, sacrifice for me… are my best of friends… and they do nothing for… but at the same time they do something for my kids - and yep… they did a lot for me by doing that. Matthew 25:40 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
1. Honor your parents.
Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land that Lord your God is giving you. (Exodus 20:12, see also Ephesians 6:2-3)
Let me help many of you understand how you can honor your parents… because I know many of you did not have good parents, in fact many of you would call them lousy, horrible parents…. You may even now be thinking… Im not honoring them. You have no idea what terrible people they are… ok, I can understand how you might feel that way and you are justifiably right… But here is one of the nuances of the word honor.
It is simply acknowledging the heaviness of the position one is to fill. Meaning… now as a parent I can understand how hard it is. Even if my parents were the worst… I can look at them and say with confidence “I know parenting is tough, and I am sure it was not easy all the time parenting me”. This simple way of honoring them is not agreeing to the fact that they were great people or even tried… but it does honor them in the position they had.
Lets dumb it down… if a certain president was in power that you did not like or agree with… you might even say he is bad for our country… if you were to walk into the White House oval office… it would be honorable to shake his hand and greet him as Mr. President. In doing so you are not honoring his actions but rather his title.
2. Honor those who are older.
You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an older man, and you shall fear your God. I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:32)
Talk about an awkward time to live in. We love and honor youth. We are fascinated by being young, staying young. We worship the hip, cool and beautiful. ON TOP OF THAT our society mocks the old. We find it easy to laugh at the bent over, the technology challenged, the balding… they smell, they dress weird, they don’t understand the REAL WORLD.
Why honor the old.
Two reasons - first, you have no idea what they have gone through. I will say it again, you have no idea what they have gone through… YOU HAVE. NO. IDEA. WHAT. THEY HAVE GONE. THROUGH.
You may be making fun of a man stuck in a cell for 22 years for a crime he did not commit. A woman who took care of a husband who was in invalid after a stroke for 30 years…
Second reason… as the scripture says. Honor the older generation and fear God. Let me put the correct emphasis on this verse…. Honor the elderly, AND FEAR GOD.
Meaning if you don’t honor the elderly… you are a fool and you are not honoring God. You are stupid, because if you feared God you would do just this!
A few years ago just before my Grandpa died… he was flown to the white house by President Obama as one of the last WW2 veterans alive, he was then honored by others and including a church I served at during that time… My heart glowed. I knew what he had been through… most never would.
Do you want to love God good… honor others!

Matthew 15:29 Jesus went from there and came to the Sea of Galilee. Then He went up the mountain and sat down. 30 Many people came to Him. They brought with them those who were not able to walk. They brought those who were not able to see. They brought those who were not able to hear or speak and many others. Then they put them at the feet of Jesus and He healed them. 31 All the people wondered. They saw how those who could not speak were now talking. They saw how those who could not walk were now walking. They saw how those who could not see were now seeing, and they gave thanks to the God of the Jews.
Insight into being used greatly by God.
WE like to look good to other Christians… We like to be used by God… We like to look like super Christians… We tend to admire those used by God, those who seem to have a supernatural mojo about them.
When was the last time you wanted to be used by God simply so others would glorify him God and not even remember you… you would vanish in their minds (and maybe really vanish) and the person or crowd just focus on God and glorify him.
This was a gentile heavy crowd, in fact it says and many of them glorified the God of the jews….
Christ motive was to reach the lost of the lost of the lost and in doing so give them a reason to worship God… a God they had no real understanding of.
Great lesson for us… if we just translate it to todays world.
YOU WANT TO SEE A MAJOR MOVE OF GOD? Here seems to be a recipe worth copying…
Go to the down and out.. the least of the least. People who are not like you, don’t know you and maybe even are at odds with you. (a.k.a. like the gentiles in Christ day)
Go to where they are in most desperate need and must have miracles… meaning your own talents won’t help them. - only God. Go where they do not know you, you will not be known by them nor is it an area you frequent. And go with the only motive to -MGLG…make God look good. Finally…. You might miss this part… go and pray and do the impossible without ever telling anyone about it. Jesus said again and again “I am here to do my Fathers will”…. He never postured or talked about all the people he healed… he wanted God to get the credit.
Yea, simple, doable, practical and needed. NOW GO DO IT.

MASCULINITY IS TOXIC
psychology professor at California State University, Herb Goldberg, tells the following story: “When I was 12 years old my father mocked me for crying one time. I consciously made a decision right then and there that I would never cry again. And I kept it, too, for years. When I finally realized crying is good, and that men need to cry too, I couldn’t do it anymore. Since then, I’ve been trying to learn to cry again, and it’s been very difficult. The same thing goes for other feelings. It’s very hard for me to let myself experience them most of the time” (The Other Side: “I Never Saw Clark Kent Cry”)…
My question is not wether you cry or not… its what did you learn and now practice from your father?
Was Jesus a plaid sweater vest, Sansa belt pants docker pants, and hushpuppy shoe wearing dude? NOPE! Jesus lost his cool and tore up the temple courts… not any court, but the temple courts… flipping tables with a whip…
He is the lion of the tribe of judah… a lion. He is coming back pissed off at the sinful, rebellious world, at satan and the anti Christ.
Jesus raged against the status quo. He was outspoken, bold, shameless, selfless, direct, compassionate, blunt, passionate, an equal opportunity employer and self-confident. He was committed to the point of death?
He was also deliberate, confident, soft, loving, strong, quiet and long suffering.
Being misunderstood for being a man in todays world is coming and is level 1
Being misunderstood for being a man Christian is common and level 2
But being misunderstood for being a true Follower of Christ and a True man is level 3… and it actually should be more like level 19…
We know Jesus lost his father at sometime… but he was around for most of his life. Jesus had many brothers and sisters and so he had to be around for most of his life. His Dad did something right to help prepare and set up Jesus… we can deduct a few things…
He taught Jesus how to work hard, how to get work done.
He taught Jesus to stand his ground and speak the truth
He taught Jesus to look out for the misunderstood and the low level of society.
He taught him to stand against hypocrisy and fallacy.
He taught him to stand against religiosity.
He taught him to love children, the lost - to love the avoided, the slutty, the disgusting the miscreants.
And at the same time never approve of their behavior and never water down the truth.
Now this can sound arrogant… but hold on and listen to where I am going… and by the way - to most people who really find things like this arrogant - its because they lack what I am talking about and they are envious and jealous… anyway… I have continually tried to figure out why I am so committed to Christ… what did I learn, what was I born with… what was the secret sauce. And yes, I have a very strong prayer life, a very strong devotion to Gods word and I am heavily involved in church and other ministries… but what was the defining factor to being a man who is totally committed to Jesus no matter what - and I truly mean no matter what. Marriage problems, health problems, money problems, kid problems….
The cause… the smoking gun if you will is simply this… a Father who was a mans man. He never stepped back in his devotion to Christ no matter what he faced or what he went through.
So today, read your bible, pray and daily ask God to make you a mans man….
Why is masculinity toxic… well it is in fact toxic to those who are on a steady diet of tolerance and social justice and don’t see Jesus for who he really was. So I make no apologies for you choking on my lifestyle, my words and my actions… one mans toxicity is another worlds hope. Change the world.

the process of knowing and gathering information. good to know.
How and why should you know your bible and apply it to life. If you want to be happy, successful, rich, powerful, healing, miracles… study it. Make it a lifestyle of study.
Some people complain… and then you ask them how much have you studied on that topic you are failing at? Your relationship with your spouse sucks… or your son, or you boss… how many books have you read on those topics? How many sons have you interviewed who have great relationships with their dads…. Look, you don’t study, you don’t learn… well - you don’t get the reward.
Why would people not study what they want to know and be.
If you have lack its not because you don’t know how to find out… but rather a lack of drive.
Scripture says if you seek you will find… the truth. but how many people truly search….
most are waiting for it to fall into their laps. Most don’t want to search or study… but what you find on the way is sometimes even more important than the goal you were after.
here is how to do this on steroids… once you start to study it and search it… practice it and journal how it is going in your life. looking back sometimes helps you learn more than what you first learned at that time.
Look you cant do all you find out, but at least do what you find out… put what you searched, what you studied, put it into action.
And finally understand that failing is the best way to learn… but to fail successfully you have to search successfully, you have to study successfully, you have to DO successfully… in order to learn and succeed successfully.
Are you studying? Are you searching? Are you doing? Are you failing? Are you learning? If not… who sold you on that lifestyle? Thats just stupid. Look we all know people we admire for many reasons… but almost always the ones we admire the most are the ones who made somthing out of their lives… not the ones who were born into it.
Finally understand that God said to whom much is given much is required…Luke 12:48
But there is an even more powerful insight… when Jesus hands out the talents to be invested in and worked… we understand that the servants had to search out opportunities and study how to invest and then acted… the servant who did not do this… NOT EVEN putting the money in the bank to earn the Master money was evil… lazy, didn’t study, didn’t learn and did not act…. how hard is it to put the money in the bank… but here is the real secret… the ones who did study, learn and act… they were rewarded not only with more responsibility but also with the talents that were given. to the wicked slave.
Study, learn, Do… fail or succeed but keep doing it and you will have an amazing adventure to tell others.
