REJECTION
Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah. ~ Judges 11:29aWe've all heard stories of individuals who have overcome extreme hardship during their childhood years. Children of alcoholics, orphans who never have parents, loss of parents to a fatal crash, childhood disease - all difficult circumstances to overcome. Jephthah was a man who overcame his obstacles and refused to allow his circumstances to prevent him from becoming great in God's sight. He was born to Gilead, a result of his father's adulterous encounter with a prostitute. Gilead's wife bore more sons, decided to reject Jephthah, and drove him away from their home saying, "You are not going to get any inheritance in our family because you are the son of another woman." Imagine the rejection this young man felt as he was cast away from his own family. This experience taught Jephthah to become a hardened warrior. Today he probably would have been part of the Marines as a navy seal. As he got older, his reputation as a warrior became known to those in his country - so much so that when the Ammonites made war on Israel, the elders of Gilead went to Jephthah and asked him to be their commander. Jephthah had to fight off those feelings of rejection from previous years. "Didn't you hate me and drive me from my father's house?" he responded. He overcame his hurt and pain, and responded to the call God had on his life. It is said that if we were to help the butterfly remove itself from the cocoon, the butterfly would not be strong enough to survive. It is the struggle that prepares the butterfly to become strong enough to fly. Without the struggle in the cocoon, it could not survive as a butterfly. The Lord prepares each of us in similar ways. Some of our childhoods seem to have been harsh and born from a seemingly unloving God. However, the Lord knows our struggle and will make our life an instrument in His hand if we will follow Him with an upright heart. He does make all things beautiful in His time if we are willing to be patient.

We live in a world where danger, criticism and rancor rule our press and media. It instinctively causes us to lose the power of Thanksgiving…
1 social media platform you post pictures to get people to believe that is what your life is really like.
2nd social media platform is where everyone lambasts every issue out there.
And what is thanksgiving?
it is practicing the power of Joy!
AND WHAT IS JOY?
IT IS OUR STRENGTH!
Joy is a fruit of the spirit. it is the spirit living inside us and released to do what god intended
Thanksgiving is a choice = which produces Joy = is an intrinsic feeling from the soul.
We step outside our “feelings” and step into the supernatural… we practice thanksgiving against our feelings… it is the catalyst of joy.
Luke 17
Jesus enters the city and 10 lepers come to him begging mercy. Jesus heals them and says go show yourself to the priests… on the way they were healed. But one returned…
Jesus says something incredible.
“you chose to give glory to God” - give thanks to God!
So now you are sozoed! Whole in your body, emotions, mind, finances, health etc….
Thanksgiving releases Gods authority over every area of our life!
In the OT we see that people were cursed by not thanking God. GOD DID NOT CHOOSE TO CURSE THEM… it is that his authority was removed due to their lack of thanksgiving.
A LACK OF THANKSGIVING IS HOLDING SOMETHING BACK FROM GOD. YOU DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO EXERCISE HIS CONTROL OVER IT.
You thank him for what he is going to do in the midst of that problem - it is faith released, his authority is released into that situation.

- Feed on God’s word and meditate, mutter, chant
- Communion with God, Talking prayer- YES of course BUt… listening prayer is under appreciated and practiced. It’s called practicing the presence of God
- Stay away from dead people and churches
- constantly confessing who God is and who you are in him
- Praying in tongues, loud with authority, push into areas specifically in tongues
- Act yourself into believing,, act on the word of God, obedience brings power, don’t just be a believer but be a doer or you deceive yourself

Well, my kid is on drugs, my employer pretty much found out I have been stealing from him, I backed into my neighbors car, Im going home to cold chinese food and I haven’t had sex with my wife in about 2 months… and tonight is not looking very good either… how are you?
WHAT MAKES YOU A BETTER YOU IN TIMES OF TRIAL?
PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD TRAUMATIC CHILDHOODS HAVE THE MOST EFFECTIVE TREATMENTS WHEN THEY INCREASE THE QUALITY AND NUMBER OF HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS IN THEIR LIFE.
*it’s not enough to hear something from Mom or the therapist. You must hear it from numerous people you love and or at least respect.
When you are going through a traumatic experience in life… bankruptcy, cancer, marriage issues, singleness, joblessness etc… YOU DON’T FEEL NORMAL- BUT YOU NEED NORMAL PEOPLE AROUND YOU TO TELL YOU THIS IS NORMAL.
When we are going through things we many times as men want to fall into a recluse - become hermits or become introverts… THAT’S WHEN WE NEED OTHERS THE MOST.
They make us feel normal by telling us we are normal in what we are going through!
Hebrews 10:24, 25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
*DON’T MISS THE POINT HERE: if someone is going to encourage you, strengthen you, stir you up… well they are going to need to know what you are going through.
Challenge: Tell others when you need stirring up.
Talk to others - find out their needs and stir them up!

Patton and his men held up on the bridge, and in a very compromising situation. Enemy fire is imminent and every one is on pins and needles. Patton cannot understand for a second what is stalling the convoy… he races up to the front in his jeep and sees it is a donkey that wont move. He jumps out and shoots the donkey in the head and tells his men to hurl it over the bridge…
Shocking? Offensive? Reprehensible?
So how should I feel when you say you want to stop smoking but you don’t do anything about it?
WIT!
So how should I feel when you say you want a better job, marriage or physique… but you won’t do anything about it. WIT
WIT - whatever it takes.
You want to quit smoking. Don’t just try one option, try them all at the same time!
You want a better job, more money. WIT. Ask for a raise. Get a better education, send out some resumes. Ask for help to write a better resume and how to better interview.
James 4:3 you have not because you ask not.
You have desires but they are not enough, but asking there means you keep asking. No matter what the outcome is - you keep asking. You keep seeking, you keep knocking….
Whatever it takes.
God did what ever it took to right the world… he sent his son Jesus to die. That is what it took! Whatever it took??? it took Jesus.
live a life of no regrets… how? By doing whatever it takes to live for Jesus.

INTRO: this guy was ordinary at best… bland, basic but his wife was SMOKING HOT!
It’s only unreasonable if you focus on the problems.
status quo (that’s Latin for the mess we’re in!) Or are you a renegade? Renegades never quit, despite the bruises. In the 18th century, Samuel Johnson wrote, “Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.” Ask yourself the ultimate question: What’s stopping you from living your dreams? Maybe you need to become a little more “unreasonable.” Maybe you need to become a renegade.
They say the secret to sales is playing the stats… for every 100 objections you will get a yes. So rather then focus on the no’s you focus on the yes.
*the secret is the more you hear a yes the greater the stats play in your favor.
So pretty soon you hear 90 No’s and one yes
Then you hear 80 no’s and one yes
and in time you break the 50 NO mark and you must choose a greater challenge to continue to grow.
You have dreams as a man- but you are afraid of the “No’s” and the “what if’s” and the “how to’s” Rather than focusing on the YES that is out there waiting for you amongst the no’s.
When you go fishing, there is far greater space and water then there are fish
There are far greater odds you will catch little fish or none at all
But you go fishing for a couple reasons… you enjoy the process, there will be some great stories and you believe you will a few times in your life land a LUNKER.
I heard a story of a guy who said “I always dreamed of marrying a 10, a super hot super model woman”. NOW this guy is not a very handsome or good looking dude. He has an ok personality at best… but he married a SMOKER OF A WOMAN… you ask him how. I simply would not give up asking beautiful women to go out with me. 999 no’s and finally a yes… but that didn’t last. So again 999 no’s until a yes… this happened a few times until one of the Yes’s fell deeply in love with me.
Make that your mindset in life.
Go for your dreams and enjoy the process and know that a few times you will land the dream!
Ecc. 11:6 says plant all your seed.
its unrealistic to think that all your seed is going to sprout…
BUT…
It is also unrealistic to think that none of it will sprout.
BUT… it is completely realistic to think nothing will sprout if you plant nothing!

Some of you spend more time training your dog than you do training your strengths and managing your weaknesses.
Matt. 25 the parable of the talents. The guy who did not manage his talents was cursed and his resources were given to the guy who did. What are your talents? manage them!
3 ways to manage your potential/talents.
- Continue to learn something spiritual, mental and emotional
(one good book, podcast, youtube channel, friend a week)
- Ask God to show you how to do things supernaturally
(when the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, they were asking “how do we do things supernaturally”.)
- Realize you set goals, and then steps to make those goals happen and most importantly adjust daily and weekly to keep on track of those steps.
A ROCKET IS OFF COURSE 95% OF THE TIME… BUT YOU KEEP ADJUSTING!

Jesus calls 12 disciples? why? I think one main reason is that he knew to do this you had to have a team. Isolation kills! All satan has to do is make you feel alone and he wins. When is a marriage in trouble? when one of the people feels alone!
Builds accountability, stirs each other up, ability to ask questions and reflect on what Jesus did.
Encourage one another in rejection
Encourage each other to move on and continue
Help reflect and answer questions that arise
Better discernment
THE LAW REQUIRED 2 WITNESSES TO VERIFY ANY ACT.
SO WE SEE A TANDEM PROCESS THAT PROVIDES THE FOUNDATION FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

Thanksgiving
I am thankful for Jesus and his amazing love for me
I am thankful for my grandkids
They kiss me with peanut butter kisses
They race cars on my head
I am thankful they are quick to share, ready to laugh and always willing to hug
out of nowhere they tell me they love me right there in the grocery cart
They know they are adored and cherished
I am thankful they have loving parents that model Jesus
They love to wrestle… even my granddaughter
Thankful for 10 fingers and 10 toes
For gibberish that I am sure is expressing her love for me
I am thankful for Jesus and his amazing love for me
I am thankful for my son Ryan and his wisdom in choosing the right wife.
Thankful you are harder working than just about anyone I know
Thankful you understands legacy and responsibility
Thankful you have passion in your life
Thankful you stepped up to be the man of the house when I got cancer, and then cancer, and then a brain tumor… you were constant!
That you are quick to pray for those in need and hurt for those in despair
Thankful you love being a husband and a father even in the mix of diapers, vomit, money challenges and lack of sleep
Thankful you have found friends as loyal and connected as you
Thankful for your wit and the ability to make me laugh
Thankful you works and then works even more
