Simply simplify
Tuesday Jan 01, 2019
Tuesday Jan 01, 2019
4000 yrs Ago Babylonians started New Year resolutions. Their year started in March. They believed that what you sowed or did on the first day set the pace for the rest of the year!
I am messy, and I am ok with it. But I gotta admit- I work better in a clean environment.
Removing clutter and simplifying your life is one of the most effective strategies for goal acceleration.
Ever clean your garage and then later pulling in you hit the garage door opener and you feel so good about it.
*your closet
*your desk
*your work bench
SO WHAT IF… We declutter our tv schedule, our phone time, our computer time, social media habits, our friends list, our eating habits etc…
“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5
Haste - pressed in, Hurried due to lack of space in your calendar
many times we make goals and resolutions about putting new things in our life… I would recommend this year making goals and resolutions about what you will stop doing!

Goals
The great philosopher Socrates once said “The unexamined life is not worth living”,
Well that may be true… but the great Warren Heckman once said the unplanned life isn’t worth much either… Garth Heckman
The future is where we are headed. Everyone wants a better future, and a better future depends on what we do today. So make today count so your future will be better!
WE TO MANY TIMES FOCUS ON THE FUTURE- AND THAT IS POINTLESS. IF WE FOCUS ON TODAY WE IMPACT THE FUTURE.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” Luke 14:28
Todays to do for tomorrows ta da!
My calendar secrets…
Look at the year and give myself a heads up reminders on what I should be working on…
Anniversary… its in July, so I am putting reminders in my calendar to help plan the budget, the gifts the travel etc…
I have a conference coming up, I do the same thing
Then I look over my monthly calendar every week
I look over my weekly calendar every day/night
I look over my next day ever evening before.
One of my greatest joys is looking back over all my to do lists.
It brings joy, it motivates me, it gets the creative juices going, it reminds me of areas to keep working on.
I was once audited by the IRS for mileage and ministry reimbursement… This was when I kept my to lists in journals (I still have them) I had such great detailed to do lists, that I mailed them into the IRS and they dropped the audit.
I love Stephen Coveys book 7 habits of highly effective people.
here is what I gleaned out of it.
I have a few roles in my life:
Follower or Christ
Husband, father, son, grandpa
Pastor
Entrepreneur
Speaker
ministry leadership
SO I LOOK AT EACH OF THESE ROLES AND ASK MYSELF WHAT ARE A FEW THINGS I CAN DO TODAY/THIS WEEK TO BE A BETTER LEADER/INFLUENCER IN THESE AREAS. (THAT IS MY SPIRITUAL GIFT…exhorter)
It doesn’t mean I don’t have goals on the future or have future plans… but I realize to make those things happen- I need to focus on today!

Passivity, fear and Pain... and the fetal position.
Friday Dec 28, 2018
Friday Dec 28, 2018
GOALS - My first time really getting beat up and I realized “it hurt but it didn’t hurt that much” A punch in the face was worth the reputation I gained.
What is fear? it is the anticipation of pain.
You overcome fear by being willing to face pain.
Jesus said the world will hate you, but it hated him first. GET READY.
MEN AND THE FETAL POSITION… YOU DID UNDERSTAND WHAT BEING A XN MEANS… RIGHT?
The only thing to fear is fear itself. FDR - No stupid, the only thing to fear is not acting out against fear and being willing to accept the pain.
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
Fear Begins to melt when you take action towards a goal you really want . Robert G Allen
Every day write out at least 3 things to do toward your goals.
- make one of them something you fear doing- do it 1st!
*Keep track because momentum adds power to your goals.
Start by taking risks with someone you trust to take them with.
Passivity is a great way to neutralize pain and fear but a lousy way to maximize ones potential! Acknowledge your pain and fear and take it to the cross and leave it for Jesus. Then Jesus becomes your potential!
ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU START TO FOCUS ON POTENTIAL AND NOT FEAR OR PAIN.

GOALS
In Seattle and walking toward the door when an earthquake hit. the door came to me. It shook me so that I could not sleep the rest of the night. Your goals should be like that.
your goals should be your alarm clock Garth Heckman
The challenge is many of us do not love our jobs- they simply pay the bills. So it is hard to get excited about “goals” in a job we simply don’t enjoy… however the key is
WHAT GOALS SHOULD I HAVE? LOOK AT YOUR GIFTS, TALENTS, PASSIONS AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS.
ASK GOD.
ASK WHEN ARE YOU MOST ALIVE?
ASK WHAT KEPT YOU UP AT NIGHT AS A YOUNG ADULT.
Then ask yourself how can I combine my goals and my purpose (influence) together.
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Pet. 3:18
**When you begin to tap into and know all that God wants from you… it will keep you up late and get you up early.

New Year resolutions and Goals are overrated.
It’s not about what you do… its about who you are called to be.
You can achieve a lot of things, but if it is not aligned with
Your gifts, your passions your values your beliefs your purpose… it will always be hard to fulfill those goals BUT EVEN MORE harder to feel fulfilled yourself.
I JUST READ A STORY OF A WOMAN WHO BECAME A DOCTOR (parents said either Doctor or lawyer- her brother was a lawyer so she became a doctor) But after 5 years she had multiple degrees and some fame, but was unhappy. What did she do? She chucked it all and opened up a horse ranch for special needs kids. And she is still helping people, but passionate and fulfilled.
SHE ACHIEVED ALL THESE GOALS- BUT IT WAS MEANINGLESS
it’s the difference between answering:
- what is my number one goal in life?
VS.
- What is my purpose in life?
one is easy to answer and hard to fulfill (goals)
One is hard to answer but easy to fulfill (purpose)
But your purpose is still not the first answer…
FIRST - is mission: (THIS IS BASED ON MY CALLING AS A LOVER OF JESUS) as a follower of Christ it is to be more like Jesus and make others more like Jesus. PERIOD!
Second - gifting -
GIFTING’S ARE A COMBINATION OF NATURAL GIFTS AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS.
My gifting MIX is evangelism, boldness, exhortation, speaking, Motivation, teaching…
YOURS MIX MIGHT BE SERVING, or GIVING, mechanical, mathematical, or TEACHING, COUNSELING, PRAYER, nutrition etc…
Third is purpose - Yours is the same as mine: influence
My purpose is to influence people to be more like Jesus.
…different stages: influence some to accept him, influence some to put more faith into him, influence some to trust him, some to serve him more, some to move out in faith more….SOME TO SIMPLY THINK ABOUT HIM AND HIS CLAIMS…
BUT ALWAYS TO INFLUENCE FROM WHERE PEOPLE ARE TO WHERE THEY NEED TO BE!
So my goals are based primarily on those:
Do I want to become a Billionaire? YES- so I can fulfill my mission: To tell as many people about Jesus as possible!
I may not achieve one goal in my life… but if I am making an influence than I am winning and feeling fulfilled.
If you ever get caught up fighting over your goals… switch your mindset to your purpose… it will make all the difference in the world.
Bonus: at the end of the year you probably won’t remember your goals… but you will always remember your purpose!

Cena Chere - without wax.
Joseph under the heat was without wax.
An Angel Comes to Joseph
18 This was how Jesus, God’s Anointed One, was born.
His mother, Mary, had promised Joseph to be his wife, but while she was still a virgin she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Her fiancé, Joseph, was a righteous man full of integrity and he didn’t want to disgrace her, but when he learned of her pregnancy he secretly planned to break the engagement. 20 While he was still debating with himself about what to do, he fell asleep and had a supernatural dream. An angel from the Lord appeared to him in clear light and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, don’t hesitate to take Mary into your home as your wife, because the power of the Holy Spirit has conceived a child in her womb. 21 She will give birth to a son and you are to name him ‘Savior,’ for he is destined to give his life to save his people from their sins.”
22 This happened so that what the Lord spoke through his prophet would come true:
23
Listen! A virgin will be pregnant,
she will give birth to a Son,
and he will be known as “Emmanuel,”
which means in Hebrew,
“God became one of us.”
24 When Joseph awoke from his dream, he did all that the angel of the Lord instructed him to do. He took Mary to be his wife, 25 but they refrained from having sex until she gave birth to her son, whom they named “Jesus.”
Full of integrity, not full of wax!

The problem with water
Friday Dec 21, 2018
Friday Dec 21, 2018
Which way does water flow?
Hey does your mom have cancer….
The very next day God used me in a remarkable way…
Everyday i choose to risk my faith… I would rather risk and fail than fail by not risking!
Water follows the path of least resistance. Where does the Holy Spirit flow the strongest? in the person who leasts resist the leading.
Error in saying yes rather then saying No.
Stephen said…
"You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you" (Acts 7:51). Here we are given the kind of attitudes that oppose the work of the Spirit. These people were "stiffnecked." They were stubborn and self-willed. They wanted their will, not the will of God. They also were "uncircumcised in heart and ears." They did not allow God to cut away the carnality of their inner being. They would not allow God to speak to them through His messengers. They were self-righteous and self-sufficient. When we conduct ourselves in this same manner, we also are "resist[ing] the Holy Spirit.”
Only weird people seem to be used by the holy spirit?
No resistance
I love Todd Whites testimony. praying for people to be healed for 6 months…. 5-10 people a day and no one is healed…
But when you choose to be pliable, you become able and then you become enabled

How to say No and not feel guilty
One of the shortest and simplest words in English causes even the most confident people stress. Most people shrink from saying no because they would rather sacrifice their time, energy and money than cause conflict or awkwardness, or experience feelings of guilt.
Learning to say no takes practice and patience and a willingness to step out of your comfort zone.
Matthew 5;47 Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
WHATTEVER YOU DO BE FULLY COMMITTED.
If you say yes, but there is a little no in your heart or head—- don’t do it because you wont do your best - you wont represent God to his best.
1. Develop a new respect for yourself.
Revisit your personal boundaries and honour your commitments to yourself. Once you begin to respect yourself fully, others around you will find it easy to respect you.
2. Get your priorities straight.
What's most important to you? Write it down. Keep a copy with you at all times. Once you know what it is you want for yourself, it will be easier to stop agreeing to things that will get in the way.
3. Take responsibility for yourself.
When you realise that only you are responsible for yourself and for the tasks you take on, you'll get that saying yes to things you really want to say no to is just a way of deferring making your own decisions.
4. Assert your right to ask for clarification or more information.
This will buy you time, and allow you to weigh your options and your priorities. It will also make it clear to the other person that you're not agreeing to their request straight away.
5. Stop being invested in being nice.
If you say yes so that you can be the 'nice guy,' then the chances are you'll follow through half-heartedly and this won't go down well with the person who asked you - and you won't feel good about with yourself either.
6. Remember that you do not have to say yes.
You have the right to say no without giving a reason for your answer.
7. Sandwich your response.
Start your answer by offering a positive comment to the person, followed by your decline, followed by a suggestion for an alternative. Example: your boss asks you to take on an additional piece of work which you do not have the time for: "That sounds like an interesting project, unfortunately at the moment the sales pitch is taking up all of my time. You know, Mary might appreciate the chance to lead the project."
8. Get that saying no does not reject the person, it simply refuses the request.
9. Be assertive.
Don't give a long explanation and don't apologise for yourself, "I'm sorry, but..."
10. Practice.
Say no in the mirror, role play situations with your partner/friends/family and practice in real life, starting with smaller things and working your way up to saying no in more difficult situations.

Guilt and a Goodnights sleep
Wednesday Dec 19, 2018
Wednesday Dec 19, 2018
The defense attorney of a man who was being tried for murder thought he had an ingenious ploy for his closing arguments. He told the jurors, “Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you must find my client not guilty of murder. based upon the fact that you do not have even the slightest doubt in your minds that he is the murderer, I have one final witness.” The attorney paused and said, “The true murderer is about to walk through that door.”
Every eye in the room looked toward the door. But no one walked in. The lawyer said to the jury, “You see, ladies and gentlemen, there is doubt in your minds. Otherwise, you would not have looked toward the door. I ask you to find my client innocent.”
The jury retired to deliberate, and five hours later, they returned with a guilty verdict. The attorney was beside himself. He said, “I proved that if the jury had a doubt about my client’s guilt, they could not find him guilty.”
But the jury foreman, a wiser, older man, commented, “As everyone looked toward the door, I watched the defendant. He did not turn his eyes toward the door. He did not look toward the door, because he knew no one was coming through. He himself was the guilty one.”
When I finally came clean about stealing the record… what a relief.
No greater bed to sleep in than the bed of a clean conscious.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
unrighteousness - Gods disapproval
