Domino'OOhhhhh no!

Did you hear about the guy who read the verse about wives submit to your husbands… he went home and told his wife in no uncertain terms that he was in charge and she would submit to him at all times…
his friend asked, what happened?
I didn’t see her for 2 weeks… then I could see her a little out of my left eye….
Speaking at mens conferences… from MN, Wis, Texas etc…
Stay tuned for more details!
Domino day
lined up 4,491,863 dominoes
it produced 94,000 joules of energy
the same as if you did 545 push ups…
in 1983 Lorne Whitehead wrote about an experiment he did for the American journal of Physics where he showed that one domino can knock down another domino that is 50% larger
So what does that really mean… that means each domino is capable of creating explosive power…
*he put up 8 dominoes, starting with a real domino about 2 inches tall, then hitting one %50 bigger, the last domino made out of a large piece of plywood that was about 3 feet tall.
So one small flick of a finger knocked down a domino the size of a door.
The 10th domino would knock down Peyton Manning
The 18th dominos would knock down the leaning tower of pisa
the 23rd domino would knock down the eiffel tower
The 31st domino would loom over mt everest by 3000 ft
The 57 domino would cover the space between earth and the moon and its destructive force is almost unmeasurable.
your choices can add steam and mass and greater productivity when built upon each other.
- 1 They kept using dominoes…. stay focused on one area
- 2 They didn’t give up…
- 3 They knew it would take time
- 4 People will look at you years from now and think you had it easy because they did not see all the domino stacking you had to do (or you may look at others and think that)
Matthew 6:33 SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS… AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.
SEEK - Work at it
FIRST - Prioritize
RIGHTEOUSNESS - Gods way of doing things, The Lords prayer, his kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
ALL - Momentum

David's Mighty Men!
Friday Feb 08, 2019

Friday
Davids mighty men… There were hundreds… but 37 that actually stood out as Men above men, warriors beyond the call of duty!
Who were they?
But who were they really… outcasts, criminals, family members
David was a man who took ordinary men, some less desirable and turned them into one of the most loyal devoted and inspiring warriors in history…
How?
First by who he was as a man: did he have his faults? YES. But he also had many more Godly qualities - his men watched him refuse to kill King Saul, even after all the attempts Saul made on his life, They knew he was to be King, but they learned from David about waiting on God’s timing, They saw that if God could take a shepherd boy and turn him into King, there was hope for them to be something great for God as well. You know what they really learned? they learned you could be loyal an enemy even for the sake of God, even when the enemy was unloyal to your and God.
Colin Powell's wife, Alma, tells a story uncanny in its similarity. The Powell family was holding a small birthday party for
Colin at the official residence of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff when a family member answered a knock at the front door. Two young men who identified themselves as special forces troops from Port Bragg, NC, were passing through Washington and wanted to meet their hero, General Powell. "We're having a family party right now," the relative told them. "Perhaps you could come back a little later." The two men thanked her, turned on their heels and strode down the walk. "Who was that?" General Powell asked. When he found out, Powell burst through the door after the servicemen. Within minutes, the two young sergeants were inside the house, to enjoy the party.
Davids example was the die in which these men were cut from.
Secondly - he was in the trenches with them. He fought side by side putting his own life and future kingdom on the line. He never asked his men to do something he himself would not do. That is how he earned their trust and their respect. He walked the walk, he fought the fight…
One of the things I loved about Michael Jordan besides the fact that he is the greatest basketball player ever… is that the one thing that stands out way above any other “greatest player” is that he made everyone around him better.
There have been some amazing players, but Jordans career is noted most directly by taking good players and making them great by his own example, dedication and hard work. You talk to any one of them and they will tell you “he forced me to be better by his very own example”
Did David have a team of mighty men… Kind of.
What he actually had was a team of Davids created by his own example AND FOR THAT REASON - lucky for them…David was a mighty man.
Todays challenge:
3 questions to chew on.
- would you be satisfied if your friends had your character and integrity?
- Are your friends more like Christ because of you?
- Do you have a David you are under? Why not? Find one!

Pray for louie and for Iris
Ryan gave his basket balls away…
My response: Great job, way to be generous.
Today I am not talking about tithing (10% of your income) As a man of God I know you are doing that. A man of God refuses to be a thief and rob God, so thank you for tithing. What I am talking about today is generosity!
2 Corinthians 9:6-8. Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
**These verses are not about tithing…again Paul assumes as believers they are already tithing… as I know you are!
These verses are about a willingness to give to a need in the church.
WHAT A CONCEPT - GENEROSITY BEYOND TITHING!
We've identified 5 reasons people are motivated to give or be generous:
- 1 They see/feel a need… FEELINGS DON’T LAST
- 2 They believe in the vision… VISIONS CHANGE
- 3 They have a relationship… RELATIONSHIPS DON’T LAST AND CHANGE
- 4 They are taught how to do it… I honestly didn’t know any better. My parents tithed, they gave away things all the time, they gave sacrificially and it was our nature
- 5 They want to obey God’s Word… NOT JUST A BLANK OBEDIENCE, BUT AN OBEDIENCE OUT OF LOVE FOR GOD.
**REMEMBER THAT FIRST TIME YOU BOUGHT YOUR WIFE FLOWERS… YES, WOW, CAN’T WAIT.
****NOW COMPARE THAT TO THE LAST TIME YOU BOUGHT HER FLOWERS…
Generosity comes from an expression of love…
Hmmmm….. For God so loved the world…fill in the blank.
Money: It’s either a tool or an idol and nothing else!
*IF IT’S A TOOL YOU ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO USE IT FOR GOD.
*IF IT’S AN IDOL YOU ALWAYS HAVE EXCUSES AS TO WHY TO HANG ON TO IT!
Todays challenge.
The dead take to the grave, clutched in their hands, only what they have given away.
DeWitt Wallace
Think of some great things God has done in your life and then out of that motivation go be generous and watch how it makes you feel, watch what it does in your life.
*remember the verse were read at the top of the podcast???

Messy is the method

Chocolate bismarck donut
It gets messy in the middle!
This Sunday I am at Grace church in New Glaurus Wisconsin It starts at 9:30 am
We not have 9 videos up on our vimeo page - if you are paid member check them out and go through your journals. Guys please sign up for a small group online free or otherwise!
The key to growing in God consistently and living a life of an overcomer is understanding it’s messy in the middle.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
(I want you to) notice very closely that these next 3 steps are seen perfectly in the lives of the disciples and you will see them in your life the same way
The START
Take on anything in life - but especially a new spiritual endeavor and it only takes about 5% of your energy.
This is a high - it is an epiphany
- Being a better dad, husband, employer
- Reading the bible and praying
- Going to church
- Changing your habits
The GRIND
But the next 75% of your choice to change is the Grind…
The trick here is to realize you can’t do it in the flesh, on your own, by trying harder.
You have to put more time into your trust in God and working on your relationship with him.
The STRETCH
This is where 20% of your time will be at the end. You will see what you learned, how you grew and it will be applicable to other areas of your life.
Lets pick something simple: One of your kids asks you a pretty simple bible question. You realize you don’t know the bible like you should.
5% epiphany - how will they ever learn it if you don’t learn it.
You will start to read the bible every day.
The Grind: it’s boring, you don’t have enough time, you don’t understand it, It doesn’t seem to be sinking in, it is not helping your personally etc…85% is this part.
*most men give up here - they say things like “well I tried, but its just not my gift, I don’t have a nack for it, I have to wait until next year, It’s really not that important as I thought it was.
The stretch: This is where things accelerate if you hang on.
you realize looking back you learned some things.
You should have started meeting with your pastor earlier to help you understand the bible… now you love reading and studying
- you found out these things called commentaries and they help you greatly to bring life to the bible
- you started to journal about scripture and how to apply it in your life
- you got it on CD and mp3 so you can listen to it on your phone
- You got a translation that you can easily understand
- and you got a bible that had study notes at the end of the verses to give greater insight
it took a year and a half - but you didn’t give up.
Lets make it simpler:
You want to surprise your wife and kids with some homemade chocolate chip cookies. You find a recipe on your phone.
The epiphany - 5% effort on your part. They are going to love you! This will be easy.
The grind: you gotta get all the ingredients. You think you have them at home but you don’t so after 3 trips to the store you start mixing everything… it’s messy, it’s confusing (is that table spoon or tea spoon) Crap I used powder sugar not flower…
Then you have to roll them out into little balls and place them on a cookie sheet and finally in the oven.
Now the stretch: as they are baking, Just the smell alone makes it worth the effort. But as they bake you debrief on the day. You realize, I should have asked my mom for some insight, I should have checked ahead of time for ingredients, I should have maybe looked at a youtube video, I could have understood table vs. tea spoon etc…
But when the cookies come out and your wife and kids come home… they are shocked and love what you did for them.
Look there are a lot of great quotes I could give you on persevering, on grinding through the tough times etc…
BUT THE TRUTH IS THIS SIMPLE…
We don’t typically give up because it is just to hard, we give up because it is just to messy, long, tiring…
Don’t give up in the middle of the mess!

Dr. Tom Stover has both videos up… Just wait… these are just the intro vids… .the stuff coming is going to rock you!
Preaching this Sunday in New Glarus wisconsin at Grace church for Roger Olson… service is at 10 am, love to see you.
I got a complaint today about the TDA… it’s to long… he listens to it during cardio and needs it to be under 3 minutes!
The Banker and the check!
Uh-Oh… someone knows someone!
What is Gods favor? = Grace
Eph. 2:8 by Gods grace we have been saved, by his favor!
“So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.” –Ephesians 2:7
Truth: Realize and accept God’s favor to experience it fully.
“May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” –2 Peter 1:2-3
Before you can receive the benefits of God’s favor, you must know that they are yours. Just as with every other spiritual benefit, you must receive them by faith.
I was a youth pastor for years… the longer I as at a church the more favor I had with parents and kids and staff…
Derek Wright of City church… I think is the longest YP in one place I currently know of…
I BET IF YOU ASKED HIM THE DIFFERENCE IN FAVOR FROM HIS FIRST YEAR TO NOW… HE WOULD DEFINITELY SAY IT IS GREATER~
There are so many people who are sincerely looking for the best way to serve God, know his principles for giving, serving, healing and miracles, evangelism…
they seek out books, videos, special services and conferences…
INFORMATION OVERLOAD if we choose…
AND IT’S ALL GOOD…
But the one thing that TRuMpS methods is relationship. Actual time with Jesus personally out side of all the “trappings”.
Ephesians 3:16-21

Ever embarrass someone? make someone mad? Ever make someone laugh? Ever make someone afraid?
Now…the question is…Were any of those to a demon? You know… you probably have not realized it!
Super bowl sleep fest! The game was almost…ALMOST AS BAD AS THE HALF TIME SHOW….
The half time was what… Roger Goodelle and a dart board?
Maroon 5-fronted by a guy who has acne and is on a proactive commercial
Big Boi… a guy who can’t spell
Travis Scott - some of the raunchiest lyrics in Rap music…
I guess the last 3 minutes were ok…
PROMOTING SOME COOL NEW IDEAS IN THIS YEAR…
Going to do some comic relief bits and maybe an interview or two… and I am going to play some of my songs for you all… not that they are great but they are entertaining.
Did you know even demonic spirits can experience emotions?
they can experience a range of emotions… satan was kicked out of heaven due to pride,
Luke 15:10 they sang for joy
Matthew 8 the demons show fear when in contact with Jesus.
Fear is the expectation of pain! Emotional beings act out in fear!
THIS IS INTERESTING TO NOTE WHEN WE THINK OF THE SPIRITUAL WARFARE WE ARE IN. Eph. 6 - read it!
Mark 9:20
20 So they brought the boy to Jesus. When the evil spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
You pray for someone and it hurts more
You pray for your circumstances and they get worse
You tithe and money gets tighter
….Hold on.
*THATS A GREAT SIGN… PUSH IN!
Does it seem like the world is heading to hell like an arrow? Evil is proud, abundant and puffs out its chest like a fool who lashes out at a wild lion with a feather. Seemingly invisible is the power of God in the midst of this mess… unless.
(heres a thought) We can find in scripture evil bursting at the seams just before God is about to level the playing field with his grace. As if sin is trying to cause as much pain as possible before the end… as if it is trying to drag people as far away from the presence of God… before the “stuff gets real”. (Just a few references Mark 9:20 Mark 5:1-20 Acts 16:16-24) For the past 25 years the church in the United States has been praying for a deep spiritual shift in our country, beyond just a revival but a repentant renewal. One that eradicates the gray and the lack of love and the lukewarm… and not just the evil. I choose to be excited over the spiritual fight going on in our country. I believe it is satan’s last attempt to coerce, manipulate and intimidate before the coming fire of God consumes our nation and we see a revival beyond even our own wildest most daring expectations.

Over 24 Billion dollars on dog food. Have you ever seen a dog buy dog food?
Who is buying it? NOT THE DOGS!
How do we know the dogs like it?…. come on, I mean really- my dogs will eat egg shells with coffee grounds on it and then lick their… well ok, you know where I am going.
People aren’t buying dog food by taste…
*EVER BEEN IN A PET STORE AND SEE SOMEONE ASK FRO SAMPLES TO TASTE?
THEY BUY by feeling. They want to feel something.
- I really love my dog
- My dog will be healthier and happier
- My dog will live longer and I can have him around more
In our Christian walk we must take stock in why we do what we do as men - as Christian men.
What do we do for a feeling VS. what we do because it is what scripture says to do!
I got news for you- if you are starting out in this Xn walk thing… it may take a while for the feelings to come.
this is typically how it rolls (and I am generalizing here)
You don’t have a personal relationship with Christ…
You go to church because it feels right.
At some point you confess Jesus as your Lord and savior - this really feels good.
then again at some point you begin to put some trust in him…
THE FEELINGS START TO WEAR OFF A LITTLE…life gets harder.
Choice A. you stay there and mix your own feelings and beliefs with scripture and just maintain enough to get to heaven.
Choice B. You push on acting and doing and believing what scripture says. Jesus goes beyond just being your savior - he becomes your Lord.
At this point the feeling goes beyond a good feeling and it becomes the right feeling… Wether easy or hard, good or bad - it feels right to serve God.
My Dad said most peoples theology is 10% experience, 10% study and 80% personality.
I agree.
This is why we must be willing to realize that we do a lot of stuff in our day to day walk based on feelings and not on scripture… that should scare all of us… even though it tends to be human nature.
FEELINGS
Dr. Albert Ellis discovered this mental chain of events, he was the pioneer or cognitive psychology. This pattern can be positively and negatively cyclical.
BELIEFS (how people see the world and life in general) PRODUCES THOUGHTS (These find their source in their deep seated beliefs) PRODUCE FEELINGS (thoughts produce feelings. This is the motor to our actions) PRODUCE ACTIONS which in turn ultimately causes us to be/act what we believe – we act who we believe we are.
so 2 Tim. 2:15, 16
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
2 thoughts: “handles the word of truth” - you study it like your life depends on it… because it does. You’re proof in studying it is by the fact that you live it!
Second thought - avoid Godless chatter - empty babbling of what people think and feel.
*so what am I saying… don’t go by your feelings, go by Gods word… act on it and you will become like Christ.
Todays challenge: Check your motives. Ask yourself why you serve God the way you do and see if it based more on upbringing, feelings, babbling or the word of God!

Thursday 1-31-19
Leave the lights on…
Joe grew up on the street, crack addict, street urchin, steal from anyone, he was evil mean and ruthless to get even just a few pennies to get a high…
He burned every bridge and no one wanted to be around him…but at the age of 42 (looking like he was 72) he wandered into a local mission to get away from the cold and he heard for the first time the message of Jesus and the cross and forgiveness…
It wrecked him
He accepted Jesus that night - and he was forever changed.
He began to volunteer at the mission and after years grew to be an amazing disciple of Christ and even worked 20 plus years up until he ran the mission.
People all the time bragged about the change in Joes life…
One day a young man in his 20’s came into the mission. He was Joe junior to a T. He was ruthless, mean, greedy, manipulative and even this young in life NO ONE LIKED HIM OR TRUSTED HIM…
And Joe just loved him day after day…
This kid couldn’t figure Joe out… it made no sense that he would just continue to love him even after he would rip Joe off, lie to him on a regular basis
Until one night this young kid made his way into the end of a service at the mission… he had never been in church in his life - EVER
The spirit of God was convicting him and he felt drawn to go up and pray to God.
As he fell to his knees and began to pray “God make me like Joe, God please make me like Joe… God if you are real please make me like Joe”… One of the older mission workers over heard his prayer and leaned forward and quietly whispered…
You don’t want to pray “make me like Joe… you want to pray make me like Jesus”
This young kids with tears in his eyes and confusion on his face looks up and says “Well is he like Joe”?
People will know Jesus is real by your life - PERIOD!
they may never go to church, listen to Xn music, Read a bible, watch a Xn program…
BUT IF YOU ARE THERE! YOU BE JESUS TO THE LOST!
MATTHEW 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- Anyone can be a mentor of men, We are called to be a Cement’or of men. Train them by example to have a solid foundation in God.
Revelation 3:16 you are lukewarm….
There is a lot of error taught on that verse and maybe I will teach on it in the future… but this is what that statement means.
Lukewarm - you are just like everybody else! You do not stand out in the world. No one knows you are a Christ follower!
Do other men want what you have?
They want what I have- they really do… I hope they want what you have as well.
Todays challenge: shine, somewhere today, somehow, some place shine! let Jesus out!

Bill Cosby and the sweater curse!
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
Wednesday 1-30-19
The curse
Sports Illustrated, Campbells soup, Madden NFL
All three seem to have one thing in common: whenever NFL players appear on their covers (on the can, in the case of the soup), he will either be injured soon afterward or be cursed with an exceptionally poor performance. I won’t cite all of the instances that this has held true, because it is pretty overwhelming. SI has a whole site dedicated to their jinx. Donovan McNabb, Shaun Alexander, Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, Marshall Faulk and Ray Lewis were all injured after appearing on the Madden cover. The Campbell’s Soup curse applies to Terrell Davis, Kurt Warner, and yes, Donovan McNabb. Again. As the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles (see ‘The Curse of William Penn’), he may very well be the most cursed player in sports history.
Knitters curse
Any knitter who knows his or her salt will tell you about the Sweater Curse. Legend has it that after spending much time, effort and money to create a sweater for your significant other, the relationship will fail soon after giving them the garment. I am a knitter and have yet to gift anyone a sweater…although I’ll admit this is more a matter of skill than superstition.
The 27 curse
Only people who die at the age of 27 are allowed to join, and, OK, they also happen to be famous rock stars. The illustrious list includes Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain and Pigpen McKernan (founding member of the Grateful Dead). Although these are the most famous, other musicians who died at the same young age include bluesman Robert Johnson; Dave Alexander, the bassist for Iggy Pop and the Stooges; Peter Ham, the keyboardist/guitarist for Badfinger; and Kristen Pfaff, the bass guitarist for Hole.
MANS CURSE
Genesis 3 Sin enters the scene
Satans cursed, Eves cursed, Adams cursed… Oprah - you get a curse you get a curse…
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”
Cursed: Everything is exposed to death… Nothing you do under the curse will last. not a business, not a relationship, not your toys, not your accomplishments, trophies, awards, books accolades etc…
Redeem: pay above and beyond… you get even more back.
What was mans original curse due to sin…
Separation from God
Work of the land - to prove your worth (Ta-shooka)
To be redeemed means we have our relationship back due to his forgiveness and grace and we do not have to find fulfillment in accomplishments.

Joy vs. Pain
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
What is the worst pain you have ever gone through?
Divorce, break up, cancer, physical condition, burned, loss of a child…
How do you know that you should experience pain from that…???
Mental, emotional, spiritual and social… Not just physical
Lets face it. We live in a world where we think if we really try we can live without pain.
In fact we think pain is unfair
It is not necessary
It means something is wrong….
What is life? it is a solid mixture of joy, pain and the unknown. You cant experience all of life if you want to avoid pain… it is impossible.
Remember at the beginning of the podcast… I asked you how you knew certain things were painful?
You only know that because you have also experienced joy.
You know the difference by experiencing the two…
Romans 5:3-5 talks about this in a deeper way.
More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Paul is saying not only can we know the difference BUT we can also expect Gods love out of suffering
What a paradox… Pain produces joy and love…
just the opposite of what the world is selling.
PAIN
There are many things in life that could cause you a lot of pain, but doing nothing will always create the most pain. Garth
Pain forces us to look deeper into our lives then joy. And at those times we can thank God for the opportunity to find what we need to forgive, learn from, seek his counsel and his grace.
Pain is a gift!
