2-25-19 If I was 20 again!
Ever have one of those weeks?
Snow keeps falling, bitter cold, 40 MPH winds
My Dog has pancreitis - probably going to have to put him down
My wife is in the hospital
Dad in the hospital…
Wake The Faith UP!
But God is in control! It’s time like these you get to practice your faith and Gods faithfulness!
THE QUESTION IS: DO YOU REALLY TRUST HIM AND HIS WORD?
I DO!
Gold Rush pre work out - Chris and Stephanie
3 Things to know or learn before you are 20’s
Survive a night in the wilderness-
always carry a knife,
start a fire,
catch a fish
How about real life:
-1 How to handle money
Invest in your retirement - $1500
- At $50 per week you'd have $828,882 by age 67, extra 5 years and $1,191,755
Tithe 10% and watch the investment go beyond that!
If you can’t control your money, you can’t control your life!
prov. 13:22 A good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
God didn’t put money on the earth for satan to lord it over us, manipulate the world and be used for the kingdom of darkness.
2- Read your bible
Read your Bible and pray: 12 minutes a day you can read the bible through in a year.
2 Tim. 2:15 -
Read it and it will change you
Read it and it will teach you to hear his voice
Read it and defend your faith
Read it and influence your kids and wife
*Don’t read it? What’s your excuse to God?
There is a definitive blessing in ones life when they read Gods word.
3- Relationship skills
People don’t get fired because of lack of skill, they get fired because they can’t get along with other.
People move ahead due to people skills
A recent survey of over 2000 US companies - over 67% rated people skills as the #1 thing they are looking for
Phil. 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
*that is the key to great people skills - looking first to others and their needs.
Read articles, ask friends, ask your boss..

KISS - The hottest band in the world
Loaded up some new videos on Youtube…
The world record for kissing is 11,030 people in one hour.
Kisses blown are kisses wasted, kisses are not kisses unless they are tasted, kisses spread germs and germs are hated, so kiss me baby, I'm vaccinated."
After five years of exhaustive laboratory study sponsored by the United States Public Health Service, Dr. Doran D. Zimmer of Daytona, Florida, concluded that kissing can cause tooth decay.
Campus Life, February, 1980, p. 47.
4 weekly reminders for every man…
These are the little things that make a huge difference.
*Now to be fair… I don’t understand women. they can pour hot wax on their body, rip the hair out but are still afraid of a spider…
So I did my homework and reviewed these with my wife!
K. kindness
Prov. 11:17 A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
Kindness is not weakness, rather it is genius. It will always pay huge dividends in marriage.
A beautiful woman married to an ugly man. A close friend of hers once asked in privately, how did such an ugly man attract you and marry you?
She looked with the most sincere and simple reflection and said, he has never hurt my feelings… he is the kindest man I have ever met.
The quicker you are kind, the greater the impact for the one on the receiving end… and the payoff later for you is greater.
- interest
Women walk into church and i comment on their hair or make up… I was raised with a pack of women… but the woman glare at their husbands because they did not notice.
Eph. 5:25
Husbands love your wives as christ loved the church….
He became just like us, practiced our rituals as humans, ate our food, breathed our air… he took interest in all we were even though we would kill him.
What are your wife interest? seek to understand them, ask questions, become interested.
I really believe that interest lays down the basic foundation for love in a relationship.
S. safety
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Weak - physically weak.
gas in the car, windshield wiper fluid, drop her off and pick her up, walk her to the car door and open it, take her hand when walking in a dark theatre, Protect her ears from hurtful speech, Do you take the brunt of disciplining the kids… little ways to make her feel safe.
S. space
Eph. 5:28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
Everyone needs space to reframe the day, the week … Life!
You need space to learn, reflect and grow
You need space to replenish
Find out when and how your wife needs space and give it to her daily or weekly as needed.
If you have kids at home wether they are 1 week old or 30 years old… your wife needs space!
Jesus took care of his time by regularly getting away and finding space.
Honest - It took me almost 10 years to learn some of these…
Don’t wait!

How to study the bible part 4
hearing Gods voice
If we can have a relationship with God… then it stands to reason we should hear his voice.
- It proves I’m in God’s family. John 10:27,18 Jesus said “my sheep hear my voice and they know me and follow me”
- It protects me from mistakes. Proverbs 3:6 “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, and everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track.
- It produces success in life. Psalm 32:8 “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
Bingo…
How to start hearing Gods voice clearly.
- act on the little voices.
- Write what you think you hear down. for review later.
- Act on what you hear to check it.

Happy Birthday to Tony Iommi… The guitar rock legend of black sabbath… he’s 126 years old.
The TDA picked up a sponsor… stay tuned next week!
When I was a kid I would sit next to my dad at conferences or when other preachers would speak, they would say turn to this passage and always my dad had already highlighted it and read it with notes next to it. I was proud of how much he studied the word. Could your kids say the same?
Random thought #1
Hebrews 5:11-14
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
How long have you been a follower of Christ?
Have you taken Discipleship seriously?
could you find the book of Hezekiah?… there is not Hezekiah!
could you find a verse on Gods deity? Gods love? Gods forgiveness? Mans sin?
People who do not read or study Gods word make it hard not only for themselves but for pastors, evangelists, teachers etc… Hav you ever preached looking out into a crowd of men who have no idea what you are talking about, because you are serving up steak and they need milk.
make your pastors job easier by studying god’s word!
Random thought #2
Mk. 4:24-25
24He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you hear. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and even more will be added to you. 25For whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” 26Jesus also said, “The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground.…
When you study Gods word, hear Gods word etc… and don’t apply it, or use it - it shrivels up and dies.
If you use it, you get more understanding and more of gods insight.
Tomorrow listen in as we talk about the key to your study time…. Hearing Gods voice! Everyone wants to hear God speak to them!

Misconceptions #1 promises in the bible
Proverbs are not promises… there are actually very few promises the way we think of promises in the bible.
Misconception #2 I get to choose the context of the verse.
What does it mean to the audience of the day?
Example: 1 Cor. 14 women should not speak up in the church.
Women should not speak in the church… Paul says
But we see other places in scripture where God used women as prophets, teachers, Put them in places of authority or next to authority…
Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name there shall I be.
Misconception #3
Building a theology or major point on one verse.
Rev. 3;16
16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
People have preached this to say “God wants you cold rather than lukewarm”.
**it does not say that!
But you can’t even prove that point with any other scripture!
Todays challenge: Read one chapter of the New Testament after the book of Acts. Answer who it is too, what it’s about and what it meant to the audience then and how you can apply it today. Then ask God to speak to you through this chapter!

I am at a DQ about 25 years ago, I am meeting with a few of my teenage girls from youth group. One of them says “hey you can settle a bet my mom and I have… how long did it take you to write the bible”
Little girl gets her first bible, Mom tells here that God is in this book and it will help her as she grows up. She takes it to church and sits in the front row, bible on her lap. An older gentleman asks to see the beautiful new bible. The little girl says you can look at it, but do not open it… you might let God out
How to study the Holy Bible
Here are the basics:
You gotta have a set time- same time every day. - It’s like exercise… no excuses, set an appointment and do it!
You gotta have a good understandable bible with study notes.
You gotta journal… highlight the bible, write notes in it but also write a journal as to what you think God is saying to you in the scriptures.
You have to have some context… (we will cover more on this, but here is the biggy)
- Books of Israel’s Beginnings. These are the Books of the Law, also known as The Pentateuch. They are the first five books of the Bible and of the Old Testament popularly referred to as the Books of Moses. They are:
- Genesis
- Exodus
- Leviticus
- Numbers
- Deuteronomy
- Joshua
- Judges
- Ruth
- 1 Samuel
- 2 Samuel
- 1 Kings
- 2 Kings
- 1 Chronicles
- 2 Chronicles
- Ezra
- Nehemiah
- Esther
3. Poetry Books. These are also known as the Books of Everyday Wisdom or The Writings. They are the next five books, namely:
- Job.
- Psalms
- Proverbs
- Ecclesiastes
- Songs of Solomon
4. Books of the Prophets. These are sub divided into two, five Major and 12 Minor Prophets, which end the Old Testament, namely:
(a) Major Prophets
- Isaiah
- Jeremiah
- Lamentations
- Ezekiel
- Daniel
(b) Minor Prophets
- Hosea
- Joel
- Amos
- Obadiah
- Jonah
- Micah
- Nahum
- Habakkuk
- Zephaniah
- Haggai
- Zechariah
- Malachi
II The New Testament
- The Gospels. Consisting of four books, named after the writers who had been with Jesus.
- Matthew
- Mark
- Luke
- John
II History of the Christian (New Testament) Church, also known as the Acts of the Holy Spirit, namely:
Acts of the Apostles
- The Epistles: These are Letters which are divided into two, namely:
(a) Pauline Epistles: Letters written by Paul the Apostle to specified Churches.
- Romans
- 1 Corinthians
- 2 Corinthians
- Galatians
- Ephesians
- Philippians
- Colossians
- 1 Thessalonians
- 2 Thessalonians
- 1 Timothy
- 2 Timothy
- Titus
- Philemon
(b) General Epistles:
One written to the Jewish Christians in general, believed to be written by the Apostle Paul, but not confirmed by contemporary Bible Scholars, namely;
(1) Hebrews
(2) Seven Letters written to Christians generally, named after the writers.
- James
- 1 Peter
- 2 Peter
- 1 John
- 2 John
- 3 John
- Jude
- THE BOOK OF THE END: This is the last book of the Bible, and of the New Testament, known as
The Revelations
You can’t be influenced by that which you do not know. And the more you know the more you will be influenced. The man stuck in the cell study in the Bible.
The learned Prince of Granada, heir to the' Spanish throne, imprisoned by order of the Crown lest he should aspire to the sovereignty, was kept in solitary confinement in the old prison at the Place of Skulls, Madrid. After thirty-three years in this living tomb death came to his release, and the following remarkable researches marked with an old nail on the rough walls of his cell, told how the brain sought employment during those weary years: — "In the Bible the word Lord is found 1,853 times; the word Jehovah 6,855 times, and the word reverend but once — in Psalm 111:9. The 8th verse of Psalm 117, is the middle verse of the Bible. Esther 8:9 is the longest verse, and John 11:35 the shortest. In Psalm 107, the 8th, 15th, 21st, and 31st verses are alike. Each verse of Psalm 136. ends alike. No words with more than six syllables are found in the Bible. Isaiah 37, and 2 Kings 19. are alike. The word girl occurs only in Joel 3:3. There are found in both Testaments 3,586,483 letters, 773,693 words, 31,373 verses, 1,179 chapters, and 66 books.”
And yet to no ones knowledge did he ever give his heart to Christ and live for God.

How did VD go?

Shout out to my son Ryan who has shared this podcast with tons of people. He is a great son, one of 2 great sons.

3 life traits to make life pop
- Reading
Ecc. 7:12 For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.
Prov. 16:16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
The advantage goes to the one who reads.
Read a book a week, take notes, file those notes.
When everyone uses the internet for insight, advice and searching topics… then the guy who reads wins. He will surely find the best of the best in his own cache of knowledge.
My son works for a man who pays the employees to read. Now first off that is awesome, but we have been playing a game the past few months about what he thinks I should read - he recommends books… the game is, I have already read all of them.
- Hearing Gods voice
John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
God is speaking - we should listen.
You know the number one trait in scripture given to those who have a hard heart? NOT SOME BLATANT SIN…
They just quit listening to God’s voice.
Take time to learn how to better discern his voice.
Then obey his voice and it gets louder.
The church I am at now… in the natural I would not have gone there. Wrong denomination, not my style, lacking in numbers, not the best place to use my gifts… But I heard Gods voice!
Hearing Gods voice is the secret weapon to life…
I go and preach many places… my advantage over some pastors? I hear Gods voice. I will stop in the service and heal someone God tells me is hurting… I go beyond preaching the word of God to hearing God speak.
- Networking
Luke 16:9 using your wealth to win friends and influence people.
Matthew 7:12 “So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the [writings of the] Prophets.
1 Cor. 9:12 Therefore be all things to all men.
If you look on my facebook page you will see that I have all kinds of strange friends from every walk of life. 2 reasons: first, I am building a bridge to a deeper relationship with them in order to influence them towards Christ. Second, I am building up a favor trail… A place to connect to give favors and to receive favors.
I have never met a successful person be it pastor or business man who has not learned the art of networking.
Final bonus thought:
Work your butt off!
Prov. 12:24 Work hard and become a leader, be lazy and become a slave.

Valentines Day
INTRO:
In a 2006 study called “the effect of meat consumption on Body odor attractiveness” male participants ate a meat diet for a month, then switched to a vegetarian meals. Pads worn in their armpits for the last 24 hours of each diet were presented to femaile participants. The women strongly preferred the smell of the vegetarians, classifying their odor as more attractive, more pleasant and less intense”
UHM… YEA? THATS WHAT DEODERANT IS FOR… NOW LET ME GET BACK TO MY STEAK!
Happy VD…
Valentines Day… what were you thinking?
WHAT DO YOU CALL A WOMAN WHO WANTS A MAN WHO ONLY EATS VEGETABLES? - SINGLE!
The number one difference between Men of God and any other man (Christian or not) should be that we take ACTION.
We ACT.
My roomie in college T tucker. Coolest cat on the planet. From Detroit Michigan. we were out on the street hanging out and an argument started… This young kid our age comes up (19) and says you better watch yourself, I’m from NY city and we handle things differently in NY city, blah blah blah…
T is just standing there listening and getting irritated. So he just drops him… Boom, Kid drops to the ground out cold. T looks at his friends and says “when he wakes up tell him that’s how we handle things in Detroit”.
ACTION… right or wrong, T was a man of action.
ACT
A - Assume it is your job
Romans 10:14, 15
14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
C - call out passive men
“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30
God calls out the nation of Israel for not having any men to stand in the gap. All the religious leaders are to busy with their own agenda… God needs us to step up and call out men to stand in the gap!
T - Teach them to reject apathy. YOU be the role model!
When David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army, the mighty men…”Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what is good in His sight.” – 2 Samuel 10:7,12
Other Scripture:
Psalm 101, Proverbs 14:23, Proverbs 20:6, Jeremiah 5:1, Ezekiel 22:23-31, John 10:11-13, James 1:23-25

2 Kings 5
Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents[b] of silver, six thousand shekels[c] of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”
Elisha tells him… go dip in the Jordan river 7 times
11 But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage.
Naamans servants talk him into it…
13 Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!” 14 So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.
3/4 of a billion dollars
Namaan thought gets mad because he thinks “any body of water could work”. water symbolizing life….
(any method could work to be more like Jesus, to encounter him)
Damascus was known for all the things life could bring, power, money, fame, education etc… it was the best man had to offer.
Mindset #6: To have the results very few have, one must think the thoughts and run the routines very few do.
The people who are on fire for god are not different or blessed or chosen or anointed etc...
They don’t read the right books, listen to the right podcasts, go to the right seminars or attend the right churches…
NONE OF THOSE ARE BAD…
But the ones who experience Jesus most are those who do the uncomfortable… the things most Christians wont do!
they simply push in more, act on it, expect more and don’t give up!
