Daddy said what?
Hey if you did not have a good dad growing up… I can’t relate. But I do know you need one… I just told my wife that if there is one thing I notice at the gym is when I start a conversation with a young man and give him some positive affirmation… they eat it up.

David was given the throne, he deserved it,
IT WASN’T LIKE KING SAUL’S TIME WAS UP… OR THAT HE WAS JUST AN OK KING… HE WAS A HORRIBLE KING!
King Saul was far from God and his heart was hard… but David Kept his heart pure.
David was a rock star. Young ladies were singing his praises… literally. He was appointed and anointed by the prophet.
He had the baddest men in the kingdom around him… he could take the kingship if he wanted.
And even after multiple attempts by Saul to kill David, AND David again and again proving his loyalty to Saul (remember he could have killed him in the cave) but he didn’t…. Saul was still trying to take David out.
Remember what My father said to me? You can be 100% right and still be dead wrong due to your attitude.
What did we learn?
David had a right attitude in that he understood Gods timing.
David had a right attitude in that he understood God’s calling. He honored the throne and the King.
David had a right attitude by learning how to manage his power and assets. He had the warriors and the right to take the throne.
The owner of a huge rental company thought it would be great if everyone learned what it was like to be at the front desk of one of their rental facilities in an airport. He thought it would be a good learning experience.

What is the worst habit a guy could have…. I have one I hate, maybe not the worst, but it’s a horrible habit I see other men do. 20 feet outside the gym in the parking lot the imaginary lat spread begins to grow.

- The touchstone. You are so used to doing things the same way that even when the right things come your way - Your HABIT of living caused you to miss the beauty and newness of life.
Gut check question: how many of your problems arise simply because you handle them the way you always handle them out of habit?
How to replace unhealthy habits these 3 habits
Maybe its a money habit, maybe it’s a relationship habit, maybe it’s a mental habit, maybe it is a physical habit.
You need all 3 of these to break an unhealthy habit.
1.Holy habits - Find a scripture that speaks to your habit. maybe you bite your nails… Quote “I lift up holy hands unto the Lord”. Ps. 134:2
2.Healing habits {based on relationships}
Have a person you love and trust hold you accountable. Have your wife hold your hands and tell you how good they will look when you quit biting your nails.
3. Healthy habits
Start a healthy habit to help your nails grow… eat some Jell-O every day, Start playing classical guitar, start giving your kids back rubs….. something that is a healthy habit using your new nails.
Why do you do the things you always do? Because that is the way you always did them. So don’t focus on quitting, focus on starting new habits.

Excuses are the mortar that hold the bricks of failure in place.
**Fear of failure is a sign of a lack of faith!
** Fear of admitting our failure (i.e. making excuses) is also a sign of a lack of faith.
Faith is the first step needed to get back up and keep moving forward.
You want to build your faith? Get up and keep moving toward your goals. Don’t give up doing the right thing and in time it will pay off!

My wife and I were watching on the news the other night about a husband who murdered his wife… talk about the ultimate betrayal. Even though he spent 3 days cleaning all the blood up on the inside of the house with bleach - they still found enough DNA evidence in the house to convict him….
I leaned over to my wife and said… your safe from me ever killing you… I would never in my right mind that would cause me to have to clean the house for 3 days…

-BETRAYED God told Abraham to leave his own country and come to the land of Canaan. As Stephen recounted in his speech to the Sanhedrin, "He [God] gave him [Abraham] no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground" (Acts 7:5). Abraham must have felt betrayed. And again, when God told him to sacrifice his son Isaac, he must have felt betrayed. When Joseph refused to sleep with Potiphar's wife but was accused of trying to rape her and then slammed into prison-he must have felt betrayed by God. He did the right thing and was punished. When Moses left Pharaoh's palace but was rejected by his fellow Hebrews, he must have felt betrayed. This list goes on and on, and yet the ultimate sense of betrayal rests with our Lord when He cried out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46); He must have felt betrayed.
But a line was drawn in the sand when Jesus rose from the dead…
Now he can give us his spirit, the comforter, the Holy Spirit- so that we may never feel betrayed again, never feel left out or cut off or forgotten.
Heb. 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
We have identified as men that our biggest battle in todays world is loneliness. But God has broken that barrier with his spirit living inside us.
Do we need other men in our lives? Yes of course….
but there will be times when we don’t have them in our life… and the Holy Spirit is more than enough.
Why do they call him the comforter? Because he comforts in the time of struggle, loneliness, pain, betrayal.
If you are ever feeling isolated, resist the urge to accept that and rather confess and believe that the comforter is inside you. If you can win that battle in your head, you can get through anything. One of satans biggest lies is that you are betrayed by God, he does not care, he is not watching over you… he’s holding out on you.
That is the first lie in the garden of eden.

My Dad took a turn for the worse today… but I am a giant slayer and I keep fighting the good fight of faith. I am claiming my father is healed in the name of Jesus. I do not bow to circumstances.

Finally he becomes second in command of the then known world. And able to save his family…
- Joseph, had an incredible dream about what his life would be- he took every job in any situation and made it his best (say that like bitch) that’s right he made it his best! Go into work today and make it your best. This jobs my best! I own you. Joseph learned from every situation preparing him to be second in command in the world!
You got a dream? Take every setback to that dream and work it knowing Gods favor is on you, in you working through you.

- Diana Nyad became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida with out a shark net, the 64-year-old, she tried 5 times, failed four times due to jellyfish stings, asthma attacks, storms, Winds so strong it pushed her back as she swam, it took her 53 hours! Lots of preparation, but she still failed 4 times.

I used to do this thing when I would speak to youth… I would go out on stage with my zipper down… and I would act like I couldn’t hear the kids yelling at me that my zipper was down… I told them I knew that- and that is why I was not embarrassed. I would pull a note out of my pocket and ask a kid in the front to read it… it would say “I know my zipper is down”.
Don’t get surprised by storms… it comes with the territory.
This week I have been living in a storm… In the words of Nate Diaz… Im not surprised mother trucker!

- They cried out to Jesus.
This is an important point to note:
- He was sleeping, he didn’t respond to the storm, he responds to us crying out to him
Hebrews 5:7 said even Jesus cried out to God because he knew he was the one that could save him.
Are you to manly to cry out to God? I hope not- he is our salvation our power, our answer to life storms!
-3 The safest place to be in a storm is with Jesus.
Don’t ditch Jesus just because you hit a storm. To many men try to take over and they in a sense ditch Jesus to do it on their own.
When you hit a storm, run to him even more. Realize he holds the victory… he may not be on time, but he is never late. So hold the fort and dig in to him.

Why talk about this?
A few reasons.
First we are very judgmental…

WE as men have all committed adultery in our hearts…
If you haven’t then we will talk about lying at a later date.
So don’t be judgmental… instead pray for him. Pray this brings him closer to Christ.
I am no better than Robert Kraft… I am just forgiven by the blood of Christ!
2ndly - what does this mean to us as men?
Everything starts in your mind first. Control your mind to control your future!
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Would you want your thoughts up on screen at church this next Sunday?
2 Cor. 10:5 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Take your sinful thoughts to Jesus and tell him about it.
Don’t just sit and struggle with your thoughts… take them to Jesus.
If you allow the seeds to plant in your mind they will eventually become actions… weed now with Jesus.
3rd Watch your input.
What do you look at on your phone? Your computer? Your screen time be it TV or computer?
Garbage in garbage out…. (but what if no one knows?)
Galatians 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
What you put into your spirit via eyes and ears is what will feed the fleshly spirit.
Spirit alway reproduces spirit.
Weigh how much spiritual input verses carnal input… not just blatant sinful input, but just bland world nonsense!
Your mind is fertile soil. If you plant weeds they will grow.
If you plant fruit it will grow…
BUT HERE IS THE KICKER… if you plant nothing… weeds will grow.
