What’s your greatest fear?
Mine is having an article written about me by someone from bleacher report… Did you read that Aaron Rodgers article? Yikes.
-365 times in the Bible it says do not be afraid. That’s one for every day!
Fear kills more people than death. Death kills you once, fear kills you hundreds of times.
Every day we have lines of fear to cross… if we do not cross them our life abundantly shrinks… to where some of us get up and feel like we are living in a very tiny small corner in the world.
The more you step into fear, and take action the greater your Life abundance grows.
The bible talks about 2 fears: healthy and unhealthy.
Healthy fear adds to your life: Fear the Lord, don’t play in the traffic etc..
Unhealthy fear is a fear that keeps you from experiencing all that God has for you.
Scriptures cure to overcoming fear:
1. I will keep my mind on Christ
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee (Isaiah 26:3).
2. The Lord will give me strength
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
3. God will not fail me
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the only one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
4. God is my salvation
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the LORD God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation (Isaiah 12:2).
5. God is on my side
The LORD is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6).
God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Ryan and Reese picking out a movie at Block buster. After a list of NO’s we finally get a silly Disney movie. Ryan was not happy. He was 11 years old and made it known he was not happy. We got in the car and started home. Just as we turned to head up to our house at the top of the street he said “I wish we were normal like everyone else”…. I slammed on the brakes and told him what normal was and that
*You want to be normal like this family?
- they worship another religion and will go to hell unless they repent
- this family? The kid has Dad #3 and all of them are losers.
- This family? The dad is an alcoholic
- This family? The mom left them
- This family? The father is away from home all the time chasing the almighty $
- This family? you and I have both heard them screaming at night at each other
- this family? The kids are on drugs, the parents don’t care and the police show up all the time?
AS LONG AS I AM YOUR FATHER WE WILL NEVER BE NORMAL!

We are peculiar (KJV)
We pray when we are sick and believe in God’s healing power.
We tithe even when bills are high and money is short.
We share the gospel -what to some seems like foolishness and others hope.
We love our wives regardless of whether or not she loves us back.
We raise our kids in the fear of the Lord and not by what is popular or what society says.
We don’t worry about disciplining our kids because we realize they need us as Dad’s and not as friends
We don’t get caught up in softball, fishing, hunting, poker, the gym and a hundred other things because we want to first serve our family and secondly serve our church!
We walk away when men comment on women and don’t join the conversation.
We ask for accountability at work, home and church
We are not ashamed to tell other men about Jesus even though it may cost us a promotion, favor or popularity.
Yeah, we are peculiar
We don’t want to be normal… we want to be Godly.

SCN9A gene. it’s defect causes one to feel no pain. Sounds like the best thing ever… wrong. Most people born with this live very short lives. They don’t know their own limitations, they don’t know pain is a gift. They don’t know it shows them where to pull back and understand their weaknesses.
Examples of the danger:
Kids will burn themselves, bleed to death, run on broken limbs etc…
Women will break their pelvis while giving birth to their children
Men live the shortest… do duh!
What does scripture way about weakness or power?
Proverbs 3
If you trust your own power, intelligence, your own gifting you will end up broken and destitute, empty!
GUESS WHAT YOUR SUPERPOWER IS…. ITS YOUR WEAKNESS!
Weakness
2 Cor. 12:7-10 Paul says my weakness is my superpower, it allows me to let Gods grace step in. In my weakness God’s grace is sufficient (more than enough)
When I know my weakness I know enough to call in God.
I love watching shark tank… and almost always there is someone who comes on the show and they trust their own intelligence over one of the sharks. A shark will offer them a deal and ask for 35%. The person hedges because they think it’s too much. So in their mind they want to keep the majority of a company that will make 1 million under their leadership rather then own 2/3rds of a company that will earn 20 million under the help of a shark.
Their strength in getting this company to a million dollars has now become their weakness because they think they can still get to 20 million on their own.
What’s your weakness? How does God want to use it in greater ways?
- First acknowledge where you are strong and that this could become a weakness!
- Where you are weak ask for God’s help and insight
- Where you are weak, ask for Godly help from others
- Where you are weak stay away from making decisions until you have clarity and expertise.
- Where you are weak, expect Gods grace and greatness.

The Dunning-Kruger Effect and the Blindness
of the Incompetent
Wheeler's lemon juice story inspired researchers David Dunning and
Justin Kruger to study this phenomenon in greater detail. The researchers were intrigued by the obvious difference in people's actual abilities and how they perceive these abilities. Dunning and Kruger hypothesized
that incompetent people suffer from two types of problems
· Due to their incompetence, they make flawed decisions (such as
robbing a bank while covered in lemon juice).
· They are unable to realize the fact that they make Flawed decisions.
(Not even the video footage convinced wheeler of his inability to be
invisible he claimed that it was faked )
The researchers tested the validity of these hypotheses on a sample
of participants. First they laid out a test measuring their abilities in a
certain domain (logical reasoning, grammar, and humor). Then, the participants were asked to assess how good their abilities were. The researchers discovered two interesting findings:
The least competent people (labeled incompetent in the research) had
a tendency to significantly overestimate their abilities. In fact, the
less competent they were, the more they overestimated themselves.
For example, the more painfully unfunny an individual was, the
funnier they thought they were. this effect was elegantly described
by Charles Darwin years ago ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge'
The second interesting finding was that the most competent participants had a tendency to underestimate their abilities. Their under-
rated results can be explained by the fact that if a task seems easy to
them, they will have the feeling that the task is easy even for other
people.
In another part of the experiment, participants had the possibility to
review the test results of other people. They were subsequently asked to
conduct a self assessment again. Competent participants realized that they were better off than they had thought. Thus, they modified their self assessments and began to
evaluate themselves more objectively.

Notice every time Jesus had compassion for someone the power of God flowed in a supernatural way.
I have prayed for many couples who could not have kids and they get pregnant… why? I believe it is because Kim and I had such a hard time getting pregnant… I remember how hard it was and I feel deep compassion for them.

I saw this happen in my life 30 plus years ago when I started hanging with some guys who walked in the supernatural.

Shoulder healed, back healed, Woman’s neck healed, 2 prophetic words, muslim woman’s knee (she wouldn’t let me pray for her) Prophetic word and infirmity cast out, knee healed at the gym (pray my wrinkles away) Prayed for a woman foot at Culvers to be healed,
THIS WAS JUST THIS LAST WEEK! This is normal…
ARE YOU HUNGRY?
Rev. 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
A testimony is an invitation for a repetition of God’s power to move again. It builds the desire for a replay of him to act again.
*you see a great play - you hit replay!
If you see a miracle personally - it stirs you and incites you to want to have your own miracles.
You see someone led to Christ and you remember what it was like to come to Christ. And you want to lead someone to Christ.
What does a testimony do? It reminds us who God is and what he can do!
*Ever have a friend say “Remember when…” You hear the story and you laugh or cry - but you want to engage with your heart!
Let todays testimonies cause you to remember who you are in Christ and what you are called to do!

Shout out to Chris Soto… a new friend of mine. I do have to correct him though. As a powerlifter he listed on his facebook page foods to eat after a work out… and he forgot the most important one. BACON!

I would imagine most men start life with a great dream of what their life will look like… and for whatever reason the dream goes flat. So Today lets talk about how to keep the dream alive or for some of us…. resuscitate it
Abraham - Didn’t know this God who approached him
Told to leave his whole family
Given an amazing and overwhelming vision for his life
It was given to him at the age of 75
Then made to wait 25 more years
And after the vision came true he was told to kill the dream (which was his son)
So how did he navigate the challenge of following his vision for his life?
STEPS
Imagine the possibilities, the future, the unknown
Abraham look into the sky see the stars…
What a vision for the future.
And why the stars? because he knew he would see them every night.
Thats important because it is at night when the enemy can attack you.
Can’t sleep due to problems, worries, anxious thoughts? Go out and look at the stars. Imagine the possibilities.
Take one step a day
Abraham left his family not knowing the whole dream or vision or outcome. But he started with one step.
- He took action. You gotta take action… BUT….
*Do you think he would have followed God if he had known all the things that would seemingly line up against him? I don’t think so.
I know I wouldn’t have… you wouldn’t have.
Don’t worry about the outcome- that is 894,338 steps away. Just take one step today. and see where it goes. I think you will be surprised at the momentum that builds in you that drives you to the fulfillment of the vision in your life.
Keep track of any indicator that God is moving in that direction
Abraham blew it many times… he sold his wife as a prostitute to the king to save his skin.
He doubted…
Gets another woman pregnant to try to speed up the process (how does that work anyway???)
In all these things God continued to be faithful.
indicator after indicator that God wants to fulfill his vision for his life.
I keep a list of the indicators that God has a plan for my life and he is moving me in the direction. It’s a list on my phone.
I encourage you to do the same. Save memories, prophetic words, coincidences etc…
Don’t give up
he had such a faith in God that even after the first part of his vision came into fruition (his son was born) God than tests him and says sacrifice your son. Abraham was going to do it- an angel had to stop him. He had learned to trust in God’s faithfulness so much that he was willing to do this.
That is where I want to be… you have such a rock solid faith in God that even if you think your vision will die, you trust God to bring it back to life.
What is todays challenge: Write these 4 steps down and track them over the weekend… and maybe longer.

Many men grow up and still carry both the habit and the fears… wanna know what they are?

you are born with only 1 habit: sucking your thumb
And with only 2 fears: The fear of falling and the fear of loud noises.
We allow simple fears to dictate our tiny little 14 hours a day…
It then translates into a week, a month, a year and a life!
Make your day your life…. Your day will be your life.
What your life looks like right now is simply the total of your days lived.
Program every day… because it will be the mosaic to your life.
i.e. take a look at your life and dissect it - what are all the pieces that made that picture.
NOW- make tomorrow a new life piece by piece and day by day.
Every day read a few pages from a book.
Every day listen to a podcast.
Ever day tell your wife and kids you love them.
Every day spend a few extra minutes serving your boss.
Every day tell someone about Jesus.
Every day invest a few dollars into your retirement.
Every day exercise.
Every day eat something healthy.
Every day drink a gallon of water.
Every day talk with a friend and destress and pray
Every day read your bible and pray every day text another man and encourage him
1 Cor. 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
DO EVERYTHING… EVERYTHING
TO MAKE GOD LOOK GOOD.
YOU MAKE GOD LOOK GOOD BY YOU BUILDING IN GODLY HABITS INTO YOUR DAY.
*The bottom line is this… we make God look good by us looking Godly, being Godly, being God like.
We are uncomfortable with that because we want to be uncomfortable with that, because we want an excuse to blow it. Some of us build into our daily lives the built in excuse that we will mess up and it’s hard to keep Godly habits daily!
Satans lie! Don’t believe it! Go for a daily Godly life!
Daily Godly LIFE. The short term makes the long term worth it.

I came home from Texas…
Bills to pay, work pressures, full calendar, tired, crappy rusted out truck, dog died… life!
I rolled over in bed that morning and looked at my wife, thought about what God had did that weekend and was happy.
A secret: Happiness and by that I mean fulfillment has nothing to do with money, fame, promotion, sex…
Jim Carrey said “I wish everyone was rich and famous and could do everything they dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer”.
3. Your material wealth won't make you a better or happier person.
Even if you are lucky enough to make all the money you could ever dream of… it does not make you happy. Money only makes you more of what you are.
Research led by University of Missouri's Kennon Sheldon found that people who say money is most important to them are the unhappiest. Princeton University's Daniel Kahneman et al's research titled, Would You Be Happier If You Were Richer? A Focusing Illusion, should cause you to stop, look, and mull over your priorities. How are you doing? Are you on a treadmill to earn as much as possible and wrecking your relationships? Your health? I repeat, reflect on these findings in this research report. Better still, review the report in its entirety:
- Most people believe they would be happier if they were richer, but survey evidence on "subjective well-being" is largely inconsistent with that belief.
- Using their "Day Reconstruction Method," they found income was hardly a factor with people's moment-to-moment daily experiences.
- Many people are highly motivated to increase income despite the weak relation between income and experienced happiness.
- People with higher incomes tended to devote more of their free time to tasks involving tension and stress
In Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV), Jesus presents a sermon on happiness called the Beatitudes, which highlights the difference between God's views of happiness and man's views:
- Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
- Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
- Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Happiness comes from living in Gods NOW. being in him in the now and being thankful.

A man
You hear all the time.. be a man. Act like a man, now that's a man...but the question is.... what is a man? WHAT MAKES A MAN

Get up 7 times... seven is the perfect number... you wanna be perfect? Keep getting up. God said He could find no fault in Daniel... maybe that's because he kept getting up!
It doesn’t matter what knocks you down… a failed business, false accusations, divorce, cancer, death of a loved one, addiction, poverty, loneliness… You get backed up.
Not every male is created equal… But every male will get the air knocked out of him, will get thrown to the floor and smell the dust from which he came…. but that’s when the human male gets to choose to be more than a part of the male species and gets the choice to be a man. GET BACK UP.
A man falls but gets back up
It doesn't matter WHAT knocks you down, it doesn’t matter WHO knocks you down, It doesn’t matter WHY you got knocked down and it sure as heck don’ts matter how much it hurt getting knocked down.
People may laugh, worse they may offer pity or talk behind your back… “poor fool, doesn’t he know he’s just like everyone else”
Who does he think he is… YOUR THE MAN WHO GETS BACK UP!
And we all get knocked down… but if you are going to get knocked down then make it count. Get knocked down doing stuff for Jesus, for eternal things, for things for your family church and spirit. Pray for the sick, help the poor, share the gospel, and if you get knocked down… Count it all joy, a great story and get back up.
I PROMISE YOU THIS…. YOU WILL NOT BE REMEMBERED BY YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS OR YOUR FAILURES… YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED BY HOW MANY TIMES YOU GOT BACK UP.
Man may have been created out of the dust of the earth… but it doesn’t mean when you get knocked down you have to stay there. You get knocked to your knees… don’t stay their worshiping the ground… get back up!
A man gets back up, there's no other prerequisite as in Rich smart good looking successful super spiritual…
You don’t have to be smart enough to get up
You don’t have to be rich enough to get back up
You don’t have to be popular, loved, sought out, admired, educated…
All you have to do is get back up and keep going… that’s you!
Take a stand and keep standing
Your the guy who keeps his back erect after every time it’s gets knocked supine

AND YOU KNOW WHAT… HERE IS THE BAD NEWS… WHEN I GET BACK UP… YOU’RE STILL GOING TO BE MY ENEMY!
And now you are facing a man!
Does it hurt getting knocked down? Of course it does but you still get back up.
And what hurts more then getting knocked down?
That’s easy… what hurts worse is staying down.

I am a horrible engineer
I am a horrible organizer
I am a horrible baker
but I am a great fighter… in fact just today I stopped at a school playground and beat up a couple 4th grade girls.
ACHIEVEMENT -We throw all our attention on whether A has done as well as B, when the only question is whether A has done as well as he could.
2 Tim. 2:15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 16 Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.
The beginning of the podcast I talk about how I am good at some things and bad at others.
It’s all a matter of comparison.
If you want to radically change how you see yourself as a Christian man… stop comparing yourself to others and start comparing yourself to scripture.
