Joe Bezzote and his wife put out another video called Toxic thoughts and mindsets. Here is the link, check it out!
You all know why we picked the our name TDA. Our tag line is “The best thing that happened to David was Goliath”. Meaning it put him on the map. It proved to the nation, to the world that David was worthy of being the next king.
But why did David have such boldness? Sure he had intimacy, he had a relationship with Jesus, he had a Godly father… but he had an unshakeable assurance from the Prophet Samuel.
Samuel was Gods mouth piece. He was judge, jury and the buck stopped there! He was “the man” not just A man, but THEE MAN that God had appointed and anointed to lead the people - he had the power and the authority of God himself. It was proven over and over again in his life.
So in 1 Samuel 16 when Samuel shows up unannounced to anoint David as the next king… it was a done deal.
It WAS going to happen! It was prophetic, strategic and ordained by God. Everyone knew that if Sammy said it, it was going to happen.
So now we see David heading down to see his Bro’s. He sees this Giant Jackalope of a man cursing God.
He tells king Saul, I got this. Not because he was a skilled slinger, not just because of his intimacy and love for God, but because of the spoken word of God over him!
You have the boldness of what scripture has spoken over you. I believe what God’s word says about me. i truly do. If you want to make fun of me for anything, make fun of the fact that I actually believe every word in the bible! And that is where my boldness comes from!
I have prophetic words spoken over me, and that is where my boldness comes from, I have an intimate relationship with Jesus - and yes, that is where my boldness comes from.
But it all stems from Gods word. I believe it! Just like David believed he would kill Goliath… he knew he was to be King.. so he couldn’t die.

When I ask you what is Gods love like?
I am guessing your first thoughts are warm, gentle, heartfelt sentiments…
But his love is fierce - intense and a guardian who call him Lord.
1 Cor. 13:7
Love . . .
. . . always protects
. . . always trusts
. . . always hopes
. . . always perseveres
What does always mean?… I will let you figure that one out on your own!
When I was on Chemo (both times) I couldn’t have enough protection on me and in my house. I bought guns, knives, clubs etc… it has to do with an unnatural anxiety that you have on chemo. I was surprised talking to other men on chemo they had the same experience.
We can have that same anxiety if we are not doing the will of God. Lets read 2 Thess. 3:3-5
2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
He will protect us while we are doing what God has called us to do, and he will protect us as we continue to do the will of God.
Here is an idea… you want protection? Do the will of God!
We can walk outside of Gods protection due to our stubbornness and human will, pride, arrogance, and blindness to our weaknesses… but if we are truly striving to do God’s will - we know he has our back.
What is the best protection? Simple… doing the will of God!

DISCERN
The Unimportance of Practically Everything
MOST OF WHAT EXISTS IN THE UNIVERSE-OUR ACTIONS,
AND ALL OTHER FORCES, RESOURCES, AND IDEAS
HAS LITTLE VALUE AND YIELDS LITTLE RESULT; ON THE
OTHER HAND,A FEW THINGS WORK FANTASTICALLY
WELL AND HAVE TREMENDOUS IMPACT.

So my comment here is not: what is the most important thing in our life???
But rather can we discern wether or not the answer to the question is in line with our lives.
DO WE IN FACT KNOW THE FEW LITTLE THINGS IN OUR LIFE THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE? and are we doing them.
We know the answer: A relationship with God though Jesus Christ. What that really means is time in his word and prayer.
AND YOU SAY: Right, got it. I’m following you here! But do you know the true difference from experience?
If I told you I have a lucky bottle cap and if you carry it with you everything will always work out the best for you. And lets say you take me up on this bet and you pocket my lucky bottle cap… and sure enough over time you realize I am right! This bottle cap is truly the thing that makes everything come together and ultimately successful. HOW WOULD THAT BOTTLE CAP CHANGE YOUR PRIORITIES AND HABITS?
*I will tell you how… you would constantly grab your pocket and make sure the bottle cap was on you. You would be in the habit of sticking your hand into your pocket… you would rub the outside of your pants pocket to make sure you could feel it in there… and if you lost it the world would stop until you found it. It would go beyond habit, and beyond lifestyle and would just be “who you are”.
There lies the challenge: that bottle cap symbolize’s our prayer life. If we have a life of discernment we realize that prayer is an absolute essential… it is a must. It is the oxygen of a life filled life! and we would continually be on alert to make sure we kept our prayer life vibrant. We would constantly check our heart and mind just like we constantly checked our pocket for the bottle cap.
But have you ever lived long enough in the realm or habit of praying where you really truly know the difference?
Have you built up the discernment, the spiritual feelers in your life to know that you are lacking intimacy, lacking his presence in every area?
You cannot discern that which you do not know or have been exposed to.
I remember the very first X-ray of mine that I looked at… I knew it was my neck, but had no other discernment then that.
NOW AFTER I a have lost count 200 plus X rays… I know what to look for.
Galatians 3:3
3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?
- Paul is asking them a tough question… have you lost the ability to discern what is best in your life? what will lead to the most Godly life? Can you not discern that you are not in the sweet spot of results!
The overwhelming reality is:we live in a world where almost
everything is worthless and a very few things are exceptionally valuable. As John Maxwell has written,"You cannot overestimate the
unimportance of practically everything.”
I add: and you can’t overestimate the stupidity and foolishness of not living within what IS most important!

Richard Wisemen in his book “the luck factor”. contends that we create our own luck through the ways we think and behave. Lucky people have a positive attitude are more resilent and listen to their intuition which allows them to see chance opportunities.
What if God is in the details? I mean every little detail of life? Down to the lint in your pocket.
You might say that sounds crazy… but ask yourself this: Who created everything in existence? Who knows everything in the world that is going on? Who cares about you more than anyone or anything else in the universe? Who other then God is trying to work everything out for you so that you know him greater and more intimate every day. Who knows the future? Can you grasp that?
I think we don’t actually have that concept in our heads, minds, spirits.
Back to Richard Wisemens thoughts about luck. He says that lucky people simply see the positive in all areas of life. They then see themselves as lucky.
What if we as men tried to see God in every detail in life. If we trusted in what we know and what we don’t know and that he is there trying to know us more… that he is seeking us!
Jesus says that he even knows about the sparrow that is hungry, the flowers that wither and die… and how much more does he care about us. Matthew 6:25-28
Men today you need to understand that God is in the details… EVERY DETAIL!
Today realize he is in every meeting, every circumstance, every conversation, every moment and every face you look into.
Seek to know him… in every moment… he is there!

Fresh out of Bible College back at my home church as the youth pastor. It was a very big church. I went to play a B Ball game in the church gym. half way through the game I jumped up and got a rebound… I came down and the guy who was covering me looked familiar. He just casually said “you’re Garth right?” I said yes. He said “you used to be a jerk to me”. I immediately remembered who this kid was… and what did I say back to him? THATS NEXT!

So yes, I was always picking on this kid in middle school. He went to our church for a while, and I don’t know why I picked on him, he was just odd and an easy target… I never truly meant to make him feel bad it was just what you did as a middle schooler. So in that moment when he said you were a jerk to me… I simply said “yep, I was a jerk back then. hope you forgive me and can move on”. He smiled and said “we all grow up”!
I have learned through out life that being honest and or admitting when we are wrong is SO MUCH EASIER than excuses or lying or manipulating the truth…
What do you do when someone calls you on your stuff?
If you are willing to accept full responsibility and admit your mistake or behavior… it typically is done with at that moment.
The repercussions evaporate right there in the conversation.
But to those who cannot admit they are wrong and be honest with themselves… it is tragic.
What happens in that situation? They drive away the quality people in their lives and can only attract those with the same “weak and fragile self esteem”.
When someone cannot admit they are wrong they are truly admitting they have such a weak and fragile ego and self esteem that they just cannot - WILL NOT - nor have the tools to deal with reality.
Psychologist call this state psychologically fragile.
But here is what’s weird… that person who is fragile has convinced themselves that they are really strong emotionally because no matter what they will not admit they are wrong… and their brain tricks them into thinking that is strength. WEIRD RIGHT?
Honesty
Police officer questioned a drug dealer's mother after her son was already in custody. The police wanted to know why the woman had thirty-thousand dollars in the glove compartment of her truck. The woman said she was saving it to put a prosthetic leg for her son. Her son, had both legs; he had used them to run from the police earlier that day.
When someone confronts you - you admit your mistake. You honestly speak the truth back to them regarding your behavior.
When you can’t be honest with yourself and admit your failures you create a very altered and warped perception of your life and the world.* and what happens in that situation? You perceive the world to be against you… everyone and everything is against you. You become blind to your own self sabotaging behavior.
Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Rebellion is a false sense of power.
About four centuries before the time of King Saul, the Amalekites had "ambushed [Israel] on the way when he came up from Egypt" (I Samuel 15:2; see Exodus 17:8-13), and with God's help, the Israelites prevailed in the ensuing battle. In response to this cowardly and odious act, God Himself says in Exodus 17:14, "I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." Years later, He gave to Saul the task of punishing the Amalekites, telling him to "utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them”
There is a bit of irony in the fact that, when questioned about sparing Agag and the livestock, Saul frames his disobedience as a way to honor God: "[The people] have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed" (verse 15). The prophet Samuel says… uh not so fast there Mr. King Saul… I ain’t buying it!
The prophet than declares that rebellion is the same sin as witchcraft…
What does he mean? Is King Saul bending over a cauldron of witches brew chanting some spells? NOPE!
rebellion is nothing more then willfully choosing to be led of by any other spirit than Gods spirit. It’s choosing to do the will and the work of the enemy in direct opposition to that of God’s.
Saul for some inexplicable reason wanted to appease his people rather than God. Maybe he felt his power among the people was waning and in question… so he acts out of the will of God. Trying to win the approval of man rather then God… Danger Danger Danger!
Why do you rebel? Where do you feel weak, and powerless… that’s the real question. That is typically where you will rebel.
When I was a kid my mom got after me about something…I got scolded and I am sure I deserved it. Now at the time all I wanted to do was rebel. So I went outside, found a half smoked cigarette and smoked the rest of it. Now my mom didn’t know, I sure didn’t tell her… but I felt empowered… for a little while. Then I felt guilty, then I felt miserable.
Here is the warning from the beginning of time. Satan and a 3rd of the angels rebelled against God. Satan thought he was greater than God and wanted to rebel to prove the point. he was cast out of heaven and forever doomed to hell! Separated from God forever.
Our rebellion great or small are simply steps away from Gods presence, away from what is best for us. it is choosing to follow another voice, spirit or influence other than Jesus.
C.S. Lewis in regards to man and rebellion said
All that we call human history--money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery--[is] the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.

Addicts many times think their epiphany is their cure… it’s not, it is just the first step in the process of working the plan.
You’ve finally decided what you want to do with your life, and you’re so excited you want to tell the world. Don’t. The positive feelings you get from sharing your plans tricks your mind into thinking you’ve already accomplished them. Kurt Lewin widely regarded as the father of social psychology, conducted studies in the 1920’s showing that your brain can substitute thinking for doing. more recent studies by NYU psychology professor Peter Gollwitzer showed that sharing intentions created a premature sense of completeness that sapped participants motivation.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.

LET ME PUT THIS VERSE IN LAYMANS TERMS: DON’T SAY WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO FOR GOD, DO WHAT YOU ARE CALLED TO DO, AND PEOPLE WILL SEE IT BY YOUR ACTIONS.
Don’t worry about telling everyone your goals, your dreams your intentions. Tell God and he will begin to empower you to fulfill them.
Telling others just dissipates your desires… telling others who cannot supernaturally fill you to do what you are called to do is a waste of energy.
You share your ideas, plans and goals to others and you can get a lot of attaboys! That can take away your drive by premature ejocularation….
Jesus kept most things secluded and cloudy to peoples perceptions…he only trusted his plans with his closest friends. AND even then, the disciples really didn’t get it. He said I am here to do only what my father tells me to do… not just talk about it!
King James Bible Proverbs 16:3
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Commit = Roll out before God… like blue prints rolled out on a table.
Establish = Firmed up. He will take what you have and problem solve them. He will give you insight and discernment into areas you couldn’t see on your own.

Why does Satan hate the Truth?
3. Truth brings freedom
Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
You are not free unless you are free from sin!
You shall KNOW KNOW KNOW KNOW KNOW THE TRUTH…HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW THE TRUTH.
Know = act on it! Not just casual acceptance of it!
When Christ says you shall know the truth = he is speaking of himself. He says that he is the truth.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
I am the way the truth the life!
BECAUSE IF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH YOU WILL NOT FALL INTO THE TRAPS OF THIS WORLD OR OF SATAN.
IF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH YOU WONT RUN AFTER MONEY, FAME, SEX, DRUGS, POPULARITY,
BECAUSE THE TRUTH SAYS THAT NONE OF THOSE WILL SET YOU FREE!
WHAT GOOD ARE THOSE THINGS IF YOU ARE NOT FREE! YOU WOULD GET PRETTY SICK OF ALL THAT IF YOU ARE STUCK IN A CELL FOR YOU WHOLE LIFE!
People all the time live in prison and lie to themselves about how free they are.
The person who can’t admit there wrong loves themselves more than the truth.
What does that mean? It means you love yourself more then God!
Netflix, Facebook, instagram, twitter, MTV, VH1, media in general won’t tell you the truth because the truth doesn’t sell.
After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Beltway had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.
You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!
DO YOU WANT THE TRUTH?
Here it is = with out God your life is meaningless!
So many Christians are fooled by the phony because they do not have enough Jesus in them and enough of his word in them to spot the truth!
Many times we run around going after the Phony things in life and we are unfulfilled – God says go after me and you will see just how fake the things of this world are!
Todays challenge: Read the whole chapter of John 8. it is a punch in the face regarding what we think is the truth and what really is the truth.

2. Truth is our foundation
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Your loins girt about by truth! Your loins?
I read this as a kid and thought it said LIONS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH!
IM A LION AND IM GIRT’N ABOUT – TRUE DAT!
What does this mean!
Back then your loins or now better called “BELT” is what held all your armor together! Like a big girdle that held all your armor in place… in fact back in battle if you could cut through the girdle of a man you knew he was most likely to die… not because you wounded him, but rather because it left the rest of his armor tangled and jumbled around his body.
It would be the difference between going to the airport with no suitcase just all your stuff in your hands versus having everything neatly packed in a big solid samsonite case.
Truth is your foundation! If you do not walk in truth in your life, your Christian walk is a mess!
If you walk in truth in only portions of your life you are not only a mess but a miserable hypocritical mess!
How do lie detectors work? When we lie our own body gives us away. A level of internal stress is generated that is undetectable to us, but not to our subconscious. This stress generates measurable physiological effects, blood pressure, pulse rate, perspiration and respiration. We can lie to others, but never to ourselves or to God!
Truth is not established by a feeling, someone else’s opinion or the newest media agenda- it’s like trying to change the rules of math!
2+2=4 that’s the truth,
God’s ways are best = that is truth!
We all see the truth differently due to our back ground!
For instance!
When children are sexually abused there internal trust compass get’s smashed. They may not be able to voice what happened, but the original God given trust that each child should have gets broken. It leaves a mutilated psyche that though it may be buried in the subconscious it twists every relationship through that pain. Pure innocent trust becomes almost impossible.
So if truth is to be our foundation in life, it is so important than we must have some basis in which to guide ourselves by!
God’s word washes us with his word to give us a clear understanding of what truth is AND becomes a guide to discernment regarding others we do life with!
What does the bible say about the word of God?
Romans 12:2
