800 Faith based Pre-marital and Marriage coaching? Do you need it?
I got some exciting news… looks like we have just about nailed the location for our next TDA conference in March of 2020… I should know more in just a few days and i will keep you posted.
1 John 3:6-7
“Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.”
You choose to abide in him… YOU WILL IT~~
In the UFC there is a motto of those who are winners – they impose their will on the fight. No matter how hard they get hit or how hard they fall, no matter how tight the grip or hold is… THEY IMPOSE THEIR WILL ON THE FIGHT!
John makes it clear that we abide… it makes it sound like we are resting… but it is an active verb - we actively wait on the Lord.
Do you want to win? Then actively wait on God. Actively seek more of Jesus.
secondly you must not sin and pass it off as an excuse. The verse says: Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Do you know how many people I run into who do not see God at work in their life and do not see him in their life and they blame God or circumstances- and its really because they do not take responsibility for their lack of seeking God!
The biggest difference between winners and losers-
Winners take responsibility in losing…
Losers never accept responsibility for a loss AND…
when losers win they say it was luck.
BUT HERE IS THE KICKER… When winners win they take responsibility as well. They say I worked hard, I got great coaching, I practiced everyday, I put in more hours in the gym, I watched my diet… they own up to the responsibility.
One of my favorite lines in the movies is from Hoosiers… Gene Hackman tells his team…
What do champions want in the final seconds?
They want the ball.
What do you want in the hardest struggle of your life? You want the responsibility to seek God and to make him look Good. We are called to glorify God- that means make him look good- how do we do that? By us- you and me- taking responsibility for seeking God to the fullest. We don’t just say a magic prayer to God, he shows up and everything is better- that doesn’t glorify God… We are a part of the equation- we want the ball- we want to glorify God.

Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
EVIL = GK Moral rot, the nature of it is bad and getting worse.
OVERCOME: THE PROCESS OF VICTORY
The mindset of an overcomer
12 spies sent by Moses…
Bounty… grapes on a staff being carried by 2 men
rich with bounty… take your pick of 16 point bucks to shoot
Flowing with Milk and Honey… rich in every way…
The 12 come back and what happens… They say the report is true… God did not lie- it is everything you want in a promise land…
They told the truth… but that is not the mindset of an overcomer.
Because after speaking the truth… 10 of them said “we can’t take it”.
True report- but a false mandate.
God already said you will take the land.
Joshua and Caleb - ten said no, 2 said yes.
And here is the acid test… Joshua had such a great mindset of an overcomer… he was chosen after Moses to lead the people.
and even a greater example… 80 years later Caleb comes back to Joshua and says remember God promised me that mountain… Give me my mountain.
HE STILL HAD THE MINDSET OF AN OVERCOMER!
The scenario of a person who is going to fight you or shoot you… you go straight after them. It does not play in to their scenario.
An overcomer mindset goes straight at the problem!

Here is what the TDA conference took to put on.
10 guys
8 meetings
12 volunteers
Videographers
sound men
Musicians
100’s of emails from dozens of people
dozens of phone calls again from dozens of people
100’s of texts “ “ “ “ “
Team work makes the dream work…
Michael jordan when told by a reporter that there is no I in team… responded, but there is in WIN!
TEAMS
Teams with synergy:
1. Give up personal agendas - Middle age man makeover
2. Become small groups - honesty, openness, meet regularly, stay focused
3. Assign roles to everyone - everyone on our team new their topic, new their role and new what was expected of them for the conference. But it was assigned to them by me!
4. Remain static - Remain closed. Every time you introduce someone new to the team you start a whole new team. So keep new members to a minimum.
5. Great teams take Take time to develop- conflict can be good for a team.
Now here is a thought for your life: build your own team. Who do you need to help you get the most out of your life?
Build that team.
Nothing is impossible for the man who doesn't have to do it himself. A. H. Weiler, 1909-1943
Jesus could have done everything by himself… He was God… but he chose a team! What does that tell you? YOU NEED A TEAM.

The best of The TDA conference day 3!
Run at your problems…
Joe Bezzotte our resident Bad Mama Jamma said every bully has a scenario in their head of how this fight is going to go down…
but when you run at the bully it throws them off…
When someone pulls a gun out and you run at them it throws them off
When problems come at you and you go straight at them… it throws the enemy off.
So you have a fear of praying for people… you immediately pray for someone
You have a fear of calling the IRS, you call immediately
You have a fear of your marriage falling a part- you talk to your wife immediately and get counseling immediately
You are afraid to tithe… write out that check NOW and drop it off at the church before Sunday
You have issues with your kids- you immediately ask them for forgiveness for being a bad dad and start spending time with them
You are afraid to share Christ because you feel like you don’t know enough… you share Christ with the first person you encounter that day.
Ps. 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me
Don’t miss the point here… you are walking forward. You are moving forward not backing up, not standing still not tiptoeing not hiding… but boldly walking forward.
One of the sessions speakers spoke about how he became the baddest dude around because in his life he was known for running into the fight whatever it might be.
You know the Christian walk is a fight… run into it. When you have a fear, run into it. When you doubt act out against it. When you are not sure- act as if you are 100% confident.
YOU WALK - through the valley of the shadow of death.
Don’t just face your fears - run after them.

The best of The TDA conference day 2!
David Goggins said Embrace THE SUCK
Todays highlight was actually the lowlight of everyone who shared.
Everyone had something to overcome EVERYONE WAS TALKING TO SOME DEGREE OR ANOTHER ABOUT FACING YOUR FEARS…
kids dying - that will rattle you to your bones and make you question everything you ever knew about God
kids with diseases -
business failure
money problems
life and death situations - his life or your life
drug abuse - so deep you no longer feel human
health issues - you will never walk again… you are the poster child for a heart attack
Someone puts a hit out on you - and you have to run for your life
Prov. 24:16
Get up 7 times…
MAYBE YOU DON’T HAVE FEARS…
Maybe on a regular basis you don’t face that pit in your stomach… because maybe just maybe you aren’t really living. When you really go after life you face fears every day…
NOW THATS LIVING MY FRIEND.
Are you afraid to get knocked down? you should be more afraid about not getting back up.
So you fail - but you tried- let the others talk about you, judge you, call you egotistical… the truth is your ego-testical… you had the cajones to get back up and try again and again and again and again…
So enjoy the fear just like you did on your first rollercoaster ride and while you may be screaming your head off in terror… at least your not down on the ground simply watching like the rest of the other losers…
The losers- the ones who lose out on the fight, the fame the fortune and the faith.
What’s fear? It’s simply the best part of your story when people asked you how you succeeded!

NAMES
The New York phone book had 22 Hitlers listed before World War II ...
and none after.
The three best-known western names in China: Jesus Christ, Richard
Nixon, and Elvis Presley.
NAMES
In Greece they change Charleston Hesston's name to Charleston Easton, because the name Hesston means poop your pants in Greek. What does your name mean?
NAMES
From a Legal Notice of a Name Change in the Honolulu
Advertiser, August 24, 2005: change name from "Waiaulia Alohi
anail ke alaamek kawaipi olanihenoheno Kam Paghmani" to
"Waiaulia Alohi anail ke alaamek kawaipi olanihenoheno Kam."
[Honolulu Advertiser, 8-24-05]
Prov. 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.
First off this is not talking about choosing a name… so if your mom named you Shtank Feerochus Wilson and you feel cheated… change your name. But know that this verse is telling you that a good name to be chosen is meant “you choose your names meaning by how you live”.
Simple: I mention a name and you immediately favor it and trust it or you don’t.
So how do people feel about your name? What are you doing to give yourself the type of reputation that allows you to influence people for God.
Ever read the bible and like in Matthew 1 you get to where they give all the names…You can barely say most of them… but each name is a story, it is a reputation
The Bible gives us a list of human stories on both sides of the ledger. One list
of human stories is used as examples as do what these people did. Another list
of human stories is used as warnings - don't do what these people did. So if
your story ever gets told, make sure they use it as an example,
not a warning.
Does everyone respect and like my name? Oh absolutely not. I have a few past friends that have done their best to taint my name… but here is what I say… I am not in charge of my reputation… as much as I am in charge of my character.
Ultimately your reputation is based on what others think of you… and yes you should be concerned about that… but your character is what God thinks about you.
make your name stick by choosing character that God would approve of. Make God look Good and you will always look good to him regardless of how bad you may look to others.

PARENTING
THE FIFTH DISCIPLINE - PETER M. SENGE (p306)
In 1990 a Fortune magazine cover story, titled "Why Grade A Executives Get an F as Parents," observed that children of successful executives are more likely to suffer a range of emotional and health problems than children of "less successful" parents. For example, one Ann Arbor Michigan study found that 36 percent of the children of executives undergo treatment for psychiatric or drug abuse each year, vs. 15 percent of children of non-executives in the same companies. The author went on to cite the executives' long hours and personal characteristics (perfectionism, impatience, and efficiency) as the chief culprits and counseled that high-powered managers need to learn to boost their children's “self-esteem."
Prob. 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Eph. 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Col. 3:21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
These verses depict a very interesting and unique concept in scripture… and that is that there is a right way and a wrong way to treat people, and everyone is different so you must be careful not to use the same method for everyone.
I believe it was Abraham Maslow who said “ he who is good with a hammer sees everything as a nail”.
I have a friend who is a very successful businessman. But his marriage is horrible… the reason? He treats his wife like one of his employees. He has 3 young children and my fear is he will do the same with them.
Here are 3 things he needs to understand and you do as well when dealing with people wether family, friends or on the job.
- You must be able to put yourself in their shoes. When scripture says train up a child in the way He should go - it begs self reflection. How would I want to be treated, raised or spoken to?
When my oldest son first got his license he took our new Ford expedition out and dented the front bumper. He was scared…
Growing up I totaled 3 of my fathers cars… I had to stop and remind myself of how my father handled those situations.
So I asked my son, are you hurt. No. Did you learn something from this? Yes. Will you drive safer next time? Yes.
2. Ephesians says to bring up your kids in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord… well then you better know the knowledge and instruction of the Lord.
Paul is saying a few things here… you must have first hand knowledge about a person, and what is going on and you must have insight from God. Instruction from the Lord means hear his voice.
Have you ever jumped down someones throat only to later realize they lost their mother that week, or they found out they had cancer… or maybe worse you acted just like their father would act, their son has a drug problem… Your lack of Gods insight causes you to treat them just the opposite of how they should be treated… and you do them great damage emotionally and spiritually.
Our natural senses are horrible at understanding people… we must be dependent on God.
3. Know when to stop. I see a lot of parents blow this one (and Boss’s as well) your kid messes up, and you discipline them… great, now let it go. But you don’t, you keep bringing it up and reprimanding them… you are only trying to make sure they get it, they understand, that they don’t do it again. STOP.
EVER HAVE A BOSS LIKE THIS… you mess up a report and from then on he continually reminds you of messing up the report and is always checking rechecking and over checking your work.
GK = They become discouraged… they see everything as hopeless. A Dad gets on his son about his grades and continually rides him… or parents get on their daughter about her weight… So it might just be about the grades or the weight…but the kids over time see their whole life as hopeless…. or yes the employee who has the boss continually on him about the reports… pretty soon it makes his whole job seem hopeless.
Don’t be this guy- know when to shut up.

When my first son was born I started this game with him where he would stand on the second step going up to his room and he would jump to me. I would catch him… then after time he would stand on the 3rd step, a few weeks the 4th step, then the 5th step… one day he said Daddy can I run from the top of the stairs and jump to you (I told him he would have to run from the bathroom out into the hallway and jump off the top… he did and I dropped him… No just kidding.
But it was so pleasing to me that he trusted me. In fact he would jump to me all the time from anywhere… one time walking out of the grocery store with a big bag of groceries in one hand and holding him in the other. I set him on the hood of my car to unlock the door while still holding the bag of groceries in my hand he just decides to jump to me… I had to drop the groceries to catch him, but I did. But he trusted me that much.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
BELIEVE: noted by others as actions by one who trusts in an inner belief and acts on it.
REWARDS: it pays well
EARNESTLY SEEK: Crave or demand ways to serve him
How is your faith paying these days?
Faith has an energy to it… its not just talked about and not just seen… it has power behind it.
You can paint a picture of a fire, hire the most creative team, the best artists, spends lots of money, put it in a huge fabulous frame, make copies of it, write articles about it, promote it, push it & applaud it - but if your freezing cold it wont keep you warm! Unless you smash it to pieces & light it on fire! Some of us have faith in Christ like this. We applaud it, we promote it, we talk about it, we brag about it, we spend time on it, we recite verses about it, but unless we act on it, unless we risk it and make a move it is useless. Fear Entraps Us
The African impala can jump to a height of over 10 feet and cover a distance
of greater than 30 feet. Yet these magnificent creatures can be kept in an
enclosure in any zoo with a 3-foot wall. The animals will not jump if they
cannot see where their feet will fall.
Faith is the ability to trust what we cannot see, and with faith we are
freed from the flimsy enclosures of life that fear allows to entrap us.
Unknown
4-
Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
SO LITTLE FAITH = lacking the drive to listen and follow Gods voice. You lack experience due to giving in and not following through.
Faith has no expiration date… I tried to live in faith but it didn’t work…
A seed knows how to wait. Most seeds wait for several years before starting to grow; a cherry seed can wait for a hundred years with no problem. What exactly each seed is waiting for is known only to that seed. Some unique trigger-combination of temperature- moisture-light and many other things is required to convince a seed to jump off the deep end and take its chance. To take its one and only chance to grow.
A seed is alive while it waits. Every acorn on the ground is just as alive as the three-hundred year-old oak tree that towers over it. Neither the seed nor the old oak is growing, they are both just waiting. Their waiting differs, however, in that the seed is waiting to flourish while the tree is only waiting to die.
