Matthew 18: 15 “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. 16 But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses.
But before that he talks about going to rescue a lost sheep. Restoration from love.
After this verse he talks about the unmerciful servant who forgets what it is like to be forvgiven.
But the key word here in these verses is verse 15 you want to win them over.
Confronting someone is not a head on collision - its not about stepping on someone and calling them out, its about restoration.
And maybe they will call you on your stuff… Great thats the idea as men!

Mark 4:26 Sower and the seed.
Same parable but before he shares it we must look at the verses just leading up to it.
24 Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more. 25 To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”
3 “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. 4 As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. 5 Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died. 7 Other seed fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants so they produced no grain. 8 Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they sprouted, grew, and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” 9 Then he said, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
10 Later, when Jesus was alone with the twelve disciples and with the others who were gathered around, they asked him what the parables meant.

14 The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. 15 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. 16 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 17 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 18 The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, 19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. 20 And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
DO YOU CATCH THE IRONY HERE?
I am telling you about a parable that you can’t understand, which is why you can’t understand, because your hearts are hard.
Mark 6: 7 - 13
Jesus sends out the disciples to preach the gospel, heal the sick, heal the lame, cast out demons
AND THEY DO!!!
BUT THEY STILL DON’T GET IT…
Mark 6: 50-52 But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!” 51 Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed, 52 for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in.
SO he tells them the parable about the hardened heart and why you don’t always understand.
He does numerous miracles
He sends them out doing numerous miracles
And they still have hardened hearts and don’t understand…
What is the secret:
- God still uses us even when our hearts are still developing.
- 1 Hear GK = consider what has been said
Do you see it at work in others lives
- 2 cling to it/Retain it GK = you hold on to it as if you were afflicted with it.
- 3 Persevere GK = one who deliberately waits while going through tribulation and trial.

These today are really practical
- - dec.25th remember the greatest gift you can give your children is time, attention and a great attitude. In the long run this goes much farther than a new bike.
- Spend money on memories
- Build traditions. We shoot guns every Thanksgiving day, We have prime rib for New Years, we go to the mall on Xmas eve day
- remember when you were a kid and made mistakes or had victories… how would you want your parents to respond? How will you respond.

15. Always compliment the effort and input and never the outcome. i.e. Don't praise the grade of an A on a paper, praise the hard work and study that went into the paper. That way even a D can be celebrated!
16. Don't just hear your kids - stop and really listen to them. Watch their body language, listen to the words they use.
17. Many times when they tell you surprising stories about other kids it's just a test to see how you would react if they told you the truth about what they are going thru! So don't overreact and pass the test!
18. By accepting and loving your child's friend you love and accept them!

11. Realize fun is free and just takes time - no money required. Nerf football- need I say more :-)
12. Understand the three levels of discipline: a. Correction which is verbal/ lots of patience during this b. Discipline- you tell them what will happen if the break the rules and then follow thru on it. C. Punishment - you tried the first two with patience but they still disobey willingly so now it's swift direct painful punishment. This is a last resort after exhausting the the first two in order.
13. Early on preach - if you tell the truth all of the time then I can trust you all of the time. But if you only tell the truth some of the time I can never trust you!
14. Wrestle with your kids- boy or girl. The hands on loving laughing increases self esteem and brain growth.

7. Have a date weekly with your wife.
8. Have a date weekly with your kids.
9. Know that even if your kids don't see your sin it will still affect them spiritually. So deal with all sin immediately!

1. Make a daily habit to stay healthy physically. It feeds every other priority in life. And no kid wants a fat Dad who can't play with him.
2. Keep a daily quiet time so you have the power and authority to lead your family!
3. Read to your kids daily. Until they fall in love with reading! It increases brain capacity and self esteem thru the roof!
4. Hug and kiss your wife everyday in front of your kids.
5. Then hug and kiss your kids.

Romans 8:19-23 New Revised Standard Version
19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; 20 for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; 23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
Luke 19:37-40
37 When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”[a]
39 But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”
40 He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”
The Bible says all of creation wants to shout or grown, meaning in our own human DNA we want to shout and groan about something. We want to make something known and it should be Jesus. If we don’t know Jesus then we try to live that out with other causes or sinful behavior.
Why is it hard for some people to witness? Because we only want to talk about things we’re in love with. Things we love to do. Things that have changed our life! Like a diet or a hobby or a new relationship. is it hard for you to talk about Jesus? Then it means you’re not in love with him!

Jonathan and David should have been at odds or maybe even enemies. David is a nobody and is given the throne! When Jonathon could have been mad or seeked revenge… but instead he served David.
Just think Jonathan could have just been the kind of guy who looked at David from afar. Had all kinds of twisted thoughts, judged him and even gossiped about him, second guessed what he was really like…
In stead he goes after him to build a friendship…
