Sir Francis Drake, the great explorer, upon returning from one of his globe encircling voyages, anchored his ship in the little river Thames A dangerous storm arose and it seemed that his ship would flounder. Someone standing near the old weather-beaten seaman heard him say through gritted teeth, "Must I who have escaped the rage of the ocean be drowned in a ditch?" It often happens that a Christian who has withstood the onslaughts of Satan in severe trails and temptations, comes to discouragement because of a minor difficulty.
James a Chapman, Chapman's Choice Outlines & Illustrations,
Zondervan, 1947, p.49
2 thoughts about Discouragement:
Discouragement is sneaky… we can weather a major setback, the death of a child, the loss of a job, a divorce. But many times the slow drain of discouragement can wreak havoc on us.
Discouragement happens when we hold up our accomplishments, personal gain, success, attention and popularity to others. We think we deserve better and we think this by comparing our lives to others. You start to think- things just are not fair, its not going the way I had planned.
But the truth is that discouragement happens most when we lose sight of the value of relationships.
First thing you need to do is reconnect with those you are closest to in your life. Talk to them, be with them just connect with them. You will quickly realize that its not what you don’t have- it’s who you have that makes the difference.
The value of laughter is underrated and you need to find laughter somewhere.
Jesus is crazy about you. That is truly what is most important.
Realize in my weakness I am strong in Christ. God looks best when he shines in our weakness. Look no one is going to be surprised if you shine in business if you are good in business. But when you shine in mentoring young men and you didn’t have a good Dad, no man mentor in your life and you even struggled in your own identity… when you do great in that area- you can easily say “it was Gods strength in me”.
Reinvent yourself. I am watching the Last Dance special on ESPN about Michael jordan. It is amazing… the thing that stands out the most to me is how in his first retirement it was not about quitting basketball but more about reinventing himself. He was burned out, fried, the pressure was like a slow drain…. so he became a baseball player. New surroundings, new people, new challenges and no expectations.
Who does this remind me of? David in the OT. He was supposed to be King. He was a shepherd boy but not rather than taking the throne he had to run for his life. He raised up an amazing army of no name men who became the Baddest boys on the block. He reinvented himself.
So what can you do to reinvent yourself? Take some classes, get involved in a new ministry at church, change jobs,
Bonus: Read great and inspiring biographies. When you hear and see how others have overcome great obstacles in life it gives you an extra push to keep going.

Ultimately when there is a conflict between you and another person there almost always comes a time where it becomes personal. You get attacked over the actual issue at hand.
This gets personal for a few reasons.
- We all know that there is probably some truth in the personal attack.
- We also know there are some exaggerations and lies in the attack.
- We are created in Gods image and know that we have are greater than the accusation
- Finally if you are a Christian you know that you are in right standing by what Christ has done on the cross so you may feel a little unfairly picked on even if there is some truth in the attack.
Escape
1. Denial-1 Samuel 2:22-25 Eli and his Sons
2. Flight-1 Samuel 19:9-10 David and King Saul
3. Suicide-Matthew 27:1-5 Judas
Attack
1. Assault-those of the synagogue attacked Stephen
2. Litigation - Paul (avoid Matthew 5:25-26, 1Cor 6:1-8 )
3. Murder-Acts 7:54-58 Killing of Stephen
Reconciliation
1. Overlook an Offense-Prov 19:11
2. Reconciliation-Mat 5:23-24, Gal 6:1 “restore gently”
3. Negotiation-Phil 2:4 “not look to own interests”
4. Mediation-Mat 18:16 “two or more”
5. Arbitration-1 Corinthians 6:4 “appoint Judges”
6. Accountability-Mat 18:17 ”tell it to the church”
Our Perspective is the Key! We are Christians First!
I. See Conflict as an Opportunity (Romans 8:28-29)
I Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
A. To Glorify God
B. To Serve Others
C. To Grow to be like Christ
II. Get the Log out of Your Own Eye
Matthew 7:5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
III. Remember Your Goal is to Reconcile.
1 Corinthians 3:13 Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
IV. Remember Your Goal is to Restore
Jesus said in the context of a loving shepherd and wandering sheep Matthew18:15 "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
V. Always use the Bible as the system of Negotiation
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Phil 2:3-4; see Mat 22:39; 1 Cor 13:5; Mat 7:12)
1. Prepare (pray, get the facts, seek godly counsel, develop options)
2. Affirm relationships (show genuine concern and respect for others)
3. Understand interests (identify others' concerns, desires, needs, limitations, or
fears)
4. Search for creative solutions (prayerful brainstorming)
5. Evaluate options objectively and reasonably (evaluate, don't argue)
VI. Understand Some people are just Unreasonable
“God does not measure success in terms of results, but in terms of faithful obedience.”
What we must do
1. Control your tongue ("Bless those who curse you;" see also Eph. 4:29)
2. Seek godly advisors (identify with others and do not become isolated)
3. Keep doing what is right (see 1 Pet. 2;12, 15; 3:15b-16)
4. Recognize your limits (instead of retaliating, stay within proper biblical
channels)
5. Use the ultimate weapon: deliberate, focused love (see also John 3:16;
Luke 6:27-31)
VII. Pray about the situation constantly
1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing”
VIII. Get help from the Church
Matthew 18:15 "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 "But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 "And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. 18 "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
Understand this: We have a myth out there that we as Christians must always get along and agree. Thats not true. Paul did not get along with Barnabas, John Mark and even butted heads with Peter.
But they always chose to make God look good regardless and chose to love each other. YES YOU CAN LOVE YOUR BROTHER AND STILL NOT AGREE WITH THEM.
Personal example: Have a friend who is on fire for God, but his approach is a hammer, I see him tick people off… but he is effective and he is Godly and he is the real deal… but His style bothers me. He knows I think that but we love each other. Will we go out and witness together??? probably not anytime soon… but He is my brother in Christ.
Proper Channels when Dealing with Conflict
1. Go to them privately
If we told someone else without telling them then we have already broken the
procedure.
2. Bring a witness
That is to witness your discussion.
3. Bring it before the church
This could also mean the council or the judges of the church. 1 Cor 6:4

Words Can Change Your Brain
Associate Editor
Last updated: 27 May 2019
According to Andrew Newberg, M.D. and Mark Robert Waldman, words can literally change your brain.
In their book, Words Can Change Your Brain, they write: “a single word has the power to influence the expression of genes that regulate physical and emotional stress.”
Positive words, such as “peace” and “love,” can alter the expression of genes, strengthening areas in our frontal lobes and promoting the brain’s cognitive functioning. They propel the motivational centers of the brain into action, according to the authors, and build resiliency.
Conversely, hostile language can disrupt specific genes that play a key part in the production of neurochemicals that protect us from stress.
However, a single negative word can increase the activity in our amygdala (the fear center of the brain). This releases dozens of stress-producing hormones and neurotransmitters, which in turn interrupts our brains’ functioning. (This is especially with regard to logic, reason, and language.) “Angry words send alarm messages through the brain, and they partially shut down the logic-and-reasoning centers located in the frontal lobes,” write Newberg and Waldman.
ultimately…
WORDS AFFECT OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM AS WELL
A Japanese scientist and water researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto has revealed that thoughts and vibrations effect the molecular structure of water.
After studying water for many years through high speed photography of water crystals and by the use of MRA, a vibration measuring device to record emotional vibrations in humans, Dr Emoto observed that water reacts to the sound vibrations.
The water crystals formed beautiful geometric shapes when words of love and gratitude were spoken near the water. But when evil words were uttered near another sample of water taken from the same source the crystals smashed, they turned into destructed shapes. The pictures show the observations of Dr. Emoto.
The human body is made up of 60% water.
Am I sounding a little wacky???
what does scripture say about this?
PROV. 18:21
Life and death are in the power of the tongue.
Proverbs 18:20 20 From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
- As many neurons in the stomach as the brain
- The brain and gut are now more than ever as seen as one operating system.
FINAL THOUGHT ON THIS
Proverbs 23:7 KJV For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Medical science says now that man can think not only in his mind but also in his heart. Scientists conducted studies on 70 heart transplant patients. The studies state that after recovering from their transplant, the recipients started recounting incidents that occurred in their donor’s life. A 52-year-old man loved classical music. After given the heart of a teenager he discovered he loved rock music. A man who had received a heart from a woman who died in a train accident had recurrent dreams about train accidents. After an 8-year-old girl received the heart of a murdered child, she started having recurring nightmares. She described the circumstances of her donor’s death and the killer in great detail. It is said that the police were able to capture the murder who was later convicted.
SCIENCE BACKS UP WHAT GODS WORD SAYS ABOUT HIS WORD:
THEY AFFECT YOUR BODY, HEART AND MIND
BULLET
If you have ever shot a gun or at least looked at a bullet…
Bullet on top
the case
the powder
The primer
*the bullet has no power without the powder
…but the powder is useless without the primer
OUR WORDS ARE THE PRIMER IN LIFE
Is. 50:4 The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.
Get an start with scripture and prayer
- I read what i gotta say and
- I listen for what I say and do
FIRST: Realize the power of your words
SECOND REALIZE THE POWER OF YOUR THOUGHTS
3rd - understand your ability to steer your life and others by your words.

COVID My take

webstix.com Tony Herman - the coolest cat on the net
Is the Covid19 virus real? Yes
Can it kill? Yes
Should we be concerned for the elderly and those with suspect and compromised immune systems? Yes
It is a plot to bring the world to a one world system? I don’t know
Is Bill Gates behind it and or is he the anti Christ? I doubt it.
Matthew 24:6-12 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Panic, fear, misinformation, false teachers and prophets and Xy will grow cold
Rev. 13:1-3 The anti christ will rise to power
The antichrist will receive power from Satan. He will rise to power after defeating other leaders and consolidating his power. (See Daniel 7:7-8.) Daniel 7:25 describes three key acts of this hell-empowered leader.
1. He will use charismatic speech to woo and influence the masses, speaking blasphemous and pompous words against God.
2. He will also persecute and “wear out” those who choose to follow Christ.
3. He will seek to change the “laws and times.”
You must know that their is a spiritual war taking place
- also no matter how much we pray we will always be under attack and the end is coming
- There is a spiritual force running the world. God is not in control of the world right now... but our prayers are still effective. Christ says to pray that the Lords will might be done… and his will is that all may know Christ as Lord and Savior.
Eph. 5:1 imitate Christ
Go into all the world and preach the gospel… but only if its safe.
He has given us power over sickness and disease.
You don’t have to go out and live in faith, but I will And I guess thats when the world will say “I am not interested in the faith/religion of those hiding at home in quarentine, but I am interested in Garths faith that goes into the fire and lives his faith out loud.
If you live in fear during this time then you must not understand what the cross of Christ afforded you. Not just salvation, but health healing, freedom from fear, protection etc…
John 13:34 They will know you are my disciples by your love. (Then peter says I will die for you) Jesus says Peter you will deny me 3 times before the rooster crows. and in front of a little girl.
*if your faith is not strong enough to live without a mask, skip church due to the COVID and not be willing to share Christ due to embarrassment - you might want to rethink through your Xn faith and walk.
The Seattle windshield pitting epidemic is a phenomenon which affected Bellingham, Seattle, and other communities of Washington State in April, 1954; it is considered an example of a mass delusion.[1] It was characterized by widespread observation of previously unnoticed windshield holes, pits and dings, leading residents to believe that a common causative agent was at work. It was originally thought to be the work of vandals but the rate of pitting was so great that residents began to attribute it to everything from sand flea eggs to nuclear bomb testing.
Originating in Bellingham in March, police initially believed the work to be vandals using BB guns. However the pitting was soon observed in the nearby towns of Sedro Woolley and Mount Vernon and by mid-April, appeared to have spread to the town of Anacortes on Fidalgo Island.
Within a week, the news and the so-called "pitting epidemic" had reached metropolitan Seattle. As the newspapers began to feature the story, more and more reports of pitting were called in. Motorists began stopping police cars to report damage. Car lots and parking garages reported particularly severe attacks.
Several theories for the widespread damage were postulated:
- Some thought that a new million-watt radio transmitter at nearby Jim Creek Naval Radio Station was producing waves that caused physical oscillations in glass;
- Some believed it to be the work of cosmic rays;
- Some reported seeing glass bubbles form right before their eyes, believing it to be the work of sand fleas;
By April 15, close to 3,000 windshields had been reported as affected. Mayor Allan Pomeroy contacted Washington Governor Arthur B. Langlie, then President Dwight D. Eisenhower asking for assistance.[2]
Finally, Sergeant Max Allison of the Seattle police crime laboratory stated that the pitting reports consisted of "5 per cent hoodlum-ism, and 95 per cent public hysteria." By April 17, the pitting suddenly stopped.
The "Seattle Windshield Pitting Epidemic" as it is called has become a textbook case of collective delusion (not "mass hysteria" as reported).[3] Although natural windshield pitting had been going on for some time, it was only when the media called public attention to it that people actually looked at their windshields and saw damage they had never noticed before.

Keep life simple… Jesus had the greatest mission on earth, of all time, eternal impact… but he lived a simple life. The power in life is to live simple.
Matthew 6 is a great read on the simplicity of life. Jesus had a simple message, that he brought to a simple people, in a simple time in life.
But in this simplicity it was enough because he was empowered in and through the Holy Spirit. He was a man, living a simple life empowered by Gods spirit- BOOM. that is all that is needed to live a full and Godly life.
We tend to use busyness to show status, to try to fill a void, to feel important and powerful… and the true genius has a very basic recipe “Keep it simple but powerful”.

Kryptonite and imitation

Charlie Chaplin was the most famous person of his era. He was the first real Movie star even though they were silent films. On the verge of burn out he told his agent he needed a vacation. So went off to Monte Cristo for 2 weeks. While there he saw that a club was having a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest. In real life no one really knew what he looked like…so he thought he would enter and steal the show…. not exactly how it turned out- he came in 2nd place.
- 3 The Kryptonite
The previous verses not only tell us to imitate Christ in things that are day to day, but now in the next few verse he shares an example of imitation that just seems to hard to understand in their world.
Imitate Christ in sexual purity!
Eph. 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
V. 6 Obviously imitating Christ is more than just using the right words.
Let no one deceive you - seduce you with words.
LOVE IS AN ACTION - not words.
Empty - worthless, powerless words.
If you love me you will let me:
If you love me, you will get a job, put a ring on my finger, get a house and walk me down the aisle… Then once you have proven your words by action I will let you!
So how do we imitate Jesus?
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

- 2 Imitate
Eph. 5:1 Therefore become imitators of God
When a stranger imitates you it is annoying
When a child who adores you imitates you it is enjoyable.
There is nothing worse than a bad imitation… imitation butter? yuck!
Imitate/ mimic: The highest form of imitation due to imitating the highest most excellent example.
How does a child learn?
Watch, imitate and do.
My sister Cheri was the absolute best at this. As a young boy I would listen to her in her bedroom have a full conversation with students, teachers, parents about how to do something, sing a song, learn a lesson etc…
NO DOUBT IT WAS FROM WATCHING OUR PARENTS IN MINISTRY.
How do we learn to be Disciples of Christ?
Watch (read) imitate and DO.
SONG - Eph. 4:32 BE YE KIND ON TO ANOTHER, TENDER HEARTED FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER EVEN AS CHRIST THE SAVIOR HAS FORGIVEN YOU … DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO
DO!!!!
There are no feelings involved in this… only action: DO!
There is a drama here that you don’t see in the english, but is in the greek. It is this: be the perfect replica of Jesus in how you love others, treat people and the power he displayed.
Shaun Van Allen’s concussion, (Edmonton Oilers) when his player couldn’t remember who he was; “Tell him he’s Wayne Gretzky.”
Imitation butter - tastes bad
I think in todays world I might no longer tell people I am a Christian but rather an imitator of Christ.
*if you don’t have the spirit or power behind your imitation than it tastes bad to the world.
V.2 smells good
Imitate so that it becomes a sweet smell to others.
*you know typically when someone tries to be someone they are not it is a turn off. But when you can genuinely imitate Christ it is a sweet smell.
Cinnamon rolls, apple pie, butter popcorn,
If you imitate Christ but have no love, no power you are a hypocrite a phony. YOU DO NOT SMELL GOOD.

The bottom line
Lack of communication
Men use words to create status and influence.
Women use words to create connection.
Men want you to hear them and connect with who they want you to believe they are.
Women want you to hear them and connect with their emotions.
Successful leaders, husbands, fathers etc… live or die by their ability to “frame” ideas, visions, problems, solutions with their words.
Think of Martin Luther “I have a dream”.
James 3:1-12
The tongue - words are a fire, a rudder, a spring of life or death. You steer your whole life by the words you use.
Maybe you are in sales and you have learned over time what to say and what not to say. the power of words…
I have a friend who who at one time was the top care salesman in the state… his secret? His words were always focused on knowing his customer. He would say hi, can I help you? Just looking? ok… then he would find anything to talk to them… You know I just saw this exact care smashed last night on Hwy 21…
He would just simply use his words to get to know the person. Didn’t try to sell him anything, he would only answer the questions the customer would ask. Other than that he would just try to get to know him. He said he would end up talking to people about their kids in college and their health and boyfriends etc… they might leave and not buy a car… but most of the time they would come back. Because they felt like they knew and trusted the salesman.
Frame your life with your words…
What are you saying about your health, your habits, your marriage, your wife, your kids, your job, your future, your spiritual life, your spiritual power, your finances, your mood, your psyche,
You set the table of success or failure with your words.
I was working on an app I am launching in a few weeks and working with my buddy Anibal. We were working on a problem (way outside my comfort zone and expertise and simple knowledge base… yea, it didn’t look good) but then he said something that just totally reframed the problem and gave me a shot of energy.
He simply said “when we figure out how to do this we are going to be famous”. He said with clarity and he was totally serious. Guess what I did figure it out…. Wait till I launch it and you will see.
But the point is the bible has hundreds of verses on speech, our tongue and words…. they all one thing in common “Power”.
I speak to myself, I repeat verses to me, I play back prophecies spoken over me… Words frame my life- I know that so I use them to my advantage.

Prov. 8:5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.
Prudence: Be crafty about it, We might say find the life hack for it.
Set your hearts on it: use it, make it your way.
Ever waste your time trying to solve a problem… only to have someone show you a quick simple solution.
I locked my keys in my car years ago at the mall. I called a police officer to come and slim jim my car. It was a female and thats cool. Realize your success or failure is all about how you train yourself to think. Your brain is the reason you will succeed or fail- Period! NOT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, NOT YOUR EDUCATION OR SMARTS, NOT YOUR FAMILY, NOT YOUR LOOKS, AND NOT YOUR LUCK OR BREAKS IN LIFE…
*Be extremely careful what you put in your brain and how much of something you put in our brain.
IF YOU CAN’T TEACH IT- DON’T PUT IT IN YOUR BRAIN.
ie. if you watch a lot of ESPN, listen to a lot of sports radio, talk shows, etc… and you can’t teach it, limit it.
If it helps you grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and you can teach it. ok, then it is worth your time.
I can’t teach anyone the merits of the 85 Bears superbowl game… but I love watching it… but it is not worthy of more than a few minutes of my year.
2-
Teach yourself to respond and not react.
Practice scenarios before they ever happen. Your wife flirts with another man, your kid wrecks the car, your boss reams you out.
Think of the best way to respond that would honor God BEFORE YOU EVER GET INTO THAT SITUATION.
I have used this before on the podcast, but when I owned my gym I knew a lot of people would want me to give them a free membership. I couldn’t just wait for someone to ask me and then try to come up with something to say. So before we ever cracked our doors for members I came up with this line. I would love to give you a free membership, but I have to charge me friends because my enemies won’t do business with me.
That was the perfect response, well thought out ahead of time and people not only laughed, they understood it.
3-
Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Peter McWilliams.
PUT YOURSELF IN UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATIONS.
In powerlifting it is not unusual to put a few hundred more pounds on your back more than what you are used to and do a 1/4 squat. You literally feel your legs shaking and you are thinking do not go beyond 1/4 or you will collapse… it is painful and uncomfortable… but it prepares your body for more weight.
When you have the chance behind taking the easy way or the hard way- choose the hard way.
The military uses obstacle courses to train you. Its not easy, if they wanted more people to sign up maybe they could dumb it down a little.
But guess what - you wouldn’t be prepared. And in fact if you want to be a seal, you then have to be pushed even harder. You HAVE to get used to be comfortable being uncomfortable or you will not make it.
I know a lot of people who have never achieved their dreams… and almost always after all their excuses what it really comes down to is they were not willing to be uncomfortable doing what needed to really get done.

Luke 7:36 One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. 37 vAnd behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, 38 and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wwiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If xthis man were ya prophet, he zwould have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”
SINNER: BLATANT, SCANDOULOUS, DEPRAVED…
DEFINED BY THAT BEHAVIOR… Its who you are.
i.e. Claudia… claudia who? Red head? Short? from Kentucky? … whore… OH THAT CLAUDIA!
He sees the adulterous woman clean forgiven and set free from guilt and shame. FREE FROM LABELS.
Jesus was free from assumptions… cultural labels. Aren’t you glad? How do others see you??? And Jesus sees you for who he has created you to be!
Someone sings an amazing song… That was wonderful…
“oh it was all Jesus”
No, Jesus sings better than that.
WHAT AM I SAYING? WE ALL SOUND THE SAME TO JESUS…
We see people on a scale…
Here’s a secret “I always come out ahead on my scale!”
HERE IS THE CRAZY THING ABOUT THIS STORY…
They are at complete polar opposite ends of the spectrum. One is a sinner - hardcore - blatant- PROSTITUTE
One is a religious fanatic - hardcore - blatant- PHARISEE
*Pharisees abhorred prostitutes, they would shame them, they would not look at them, they would go to great lengths to stay away from any sexual temptation or innuendos.
THEY ARE BOTH SEEN BY JESUS AS THE SAME.
To touch her would make you unclean - unable to be in the presence of God. You are not allowed in the temple where Gods presence was.
Simon discredits Jesus because Jesus allowed this woman to touch him.
Simon sees her one way - Jesus sees her another way.
When we lived in Seattle our church was next to a strip club and there was another one a few doors down and then another one down the street… I became friends with the strippers… Would you judge me? Would you discredit me?
See people as Jesus sees them. See the religious arrogant as Jesus would, See the prostitute, drug addict, the mechanic who is a thief, the mother in law who is a gossip… see them all the way jesus sees them.
