Brooke and Kyler
There were 3 good arguments that Jesus could have been Black:
1 He called everyone "brother"
2. He liked Gospel
3. He couldn't get a fair trial.
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was
Jewish:
1. He went into His Fathers business.
2. He lived at home until he was 33.
3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his mother was sure he
was
God.
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus could
have been Italian:
1. He talked with his hands.
2. He had wine with every meal.
3. He used olive oil.
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus could
have been a Californian:
1. He never cut his hair.
2. He walked around barefoot all the time
3. He started a new religion.
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus could
have been Irish:
1. He never got married.
2. He was always telling stories.
3. He loved green pastures.
But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 proofs that Jesus
could have been a woman:
1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food.
2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who
just didn't get it.
3. And even when he was dead, He had to get up because there was
more work to do.
My own: It is possible that That Jesus was a youth pastor-
He hung out with teenage boys
He always seemed to be eating or drinking
He broke a lot of rules
He cried over kids
Muhammad Ali said “I am the greatest”
Jesus made some startling and very exclusive claims.
For example he said: “I am the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Jn 14:6)
I often hear people say that “All religions are basically the same – they all worship the same God”.
But I DON’T agree. Because Jesus doesn’t leave us that option.
- ALBERT SCHWEITZER the famous liberal theologian and one of the 113 Swiss Nobel Prize winners:
“He was a deluded fanatic who futilely threw away his life in blind devotion to a mad dream. There is nothing more negative than the critical study of the life of Christ.”
Hardly a Christian answer!
2. 2. GEORGE BERNARD SHAW – the famous atheist and writer who said
“Jesus was a man who was sane until Peter hailed him as the Christ and who then became a monomaniac…his delusion is a very common delusion among the insane…”
2. 3. Ask the question to a practising MUSLIM and you will get the answer that Jesus was simply a great prophet , second only to Mohammed and that he was not divine.
But there have been other answers.
3 George W Bush - President of the United States
As God’s only Son, Jesus came to Earth and gave His life so that we may live.
4. CS Lewis
And in his book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis made this poignant statement,
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher.
He would either be a lunatic--on the level with a
man who says he is a poached egg--or he would be
the devil of hell.
You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse.
You can shut him up for a fool or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."
Identity Theft – who do you say that I am?
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
If Jesus was in front of you right now and asked you that question… what would be the level of ease you would have in answering that.
What I mean is… if you say yes- and you really mean it then your life is radically different than most peoples lives today. The way you live, give, act, think are all different.
OR IF YOU SAY YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD… and you know your life is not really any different because of that statement you feel awkward, your mind fills with excuses and you immediately want to tell Jesus you will try harder and do better.
Simple question today men…. Who do you say Jesus is?
LIVE IT!
