Knowledge isn’t truth
Truth isn’t wisdom
Wisdom is simply truth (not necessarily knowledge - acted on)
*We used to think a tomato was a vegetable (knowledge)
***But now we know its a fruit (truth)
****Wisdom says don’t put it in a fruit salad.
HERE IS A SECRET…
The truth doesn’t change you…
what you believe doesn’t change you…
what you practice changes you. So you better practice the truth and not just knowledge.
The Truth Shall Make You Free
John 8:
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide (continue) in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
V. 31 Continue: The Greek verb "μένω"
(menó) primarily means to remain or stay in a given place, state, or relation. It conveys a sense of persistence and continuity, often implying a steadfastness or enduring presence. In the New Testament, it is frequently used to describe the believer's relationship with Christ, emphasizing a continual, abiding connection.
**what does If 1 John 1:6 say -
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
V. 32 Set you free GK
"eleutheroó," "free" or "liberated," and פָּדָה (padah, H6299) meaning "to redeem" or "to ransom."
Usage: The verb "eleutheroó" is used in the New Testament to denote the act of setting someone free or liberating them from bondage or oppression. It often carries a spiritual connotation, referring to liberation from sin, the law, or spiritual death through the work of Jesus Christ.
Cultural and Historical Background: In the Greco-Roman world, the concept of freedom was highly valued, associated with citizenship and the rights that came with it. Slavery was a common institution, and the act of freeing a slave was a significant event… especially in relation to the Exodus from Egypt, which symbolized God's deliverance of His people. The New Testament writers, particularly Paul, used this cultural understanding to explain the spiritual freedom believers have in Christ.
