The David Alliance
Garth Heckman
Psalm 106
24 The people refused to enter the pleasant land,
for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. 25 Instead, they grumbled in their tents
and refused to obey the Lord.
34 Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land,
as the Lord had commanded them.
35 Instead, they mingled among the pagans
and adopted their evil customs.
36 They worshiped their idols,
which led to their downfall.
37 They even sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to the demons.
38 They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters.
By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan,
they polluted the land with murder.
39 They defiled themselves by their evil deeds,
and their love of idols was adultery in the Lord’s sight.
Whatever you don’t kill will grow up to destroy you, your children, your future and your eternal impact.
Here are some real-life examples of how small things can escalate when neglected:
Personal Health
- A small cut: If not cleaned and bandaged, it can become infected, leading to more serious health problems.
- Ignoring a toothache: Can result in cavities, gum disease, and potentially tooth loss if not addressed.
- Skipping exercise: Over time, this can lead to weight gain, decreased fitness, and increased risk of chronic diseases.
Home and Maintenance
- A leaky faucet: Can lead to water damage, mold growth, and increased water bills.
- A small crack in the wall: If not repaired, it can worsen over time, compromising the structural integrity of the wall.
- Neglecting yard work: Can result in overgrown weeds, attracting pests, and potentially damaging the lawn.
Finances
- Ignoring small debts: Can accumulate interest and late fees, making them harder to pay off.
- Not budgeting: Can lead to overspending, difficulty saving, and potential financial instability.
- Impulse purchases: Can add up and strain your budget if not kept in check.
Relationships
- Unresolved minor conflicts: Can build resentment and create distance between people.
- Neglecting to show appreciation: Can make others feel undervalued and lead to strained relationships.
- Lack of communication: Can result in misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
Workplace
- Procrastinating on small tasks: Can lead to a backlog of work and increased stress.
- Ignoring minor errors: Can result in larger problems and decreased productivity.
- Lack of attention to detail: Can lead to mistakes that impact the quality of work.
General Life
- Clutter: Can create a sense of chaos and make it difficult to find things.
- Disorganization: Can lead to missed appointments, lost items, and decreased efficiency.
- Poor time management: Can result in missed deadlines, increased stress, and a feeling of being overwhelmed.
Lets get personal… yes teach your kids how to love, and how to deal with difficult people.. but also teach them what a bully is, and how to defend themselves, teach them that if they do defend themselves you will celebrate them and not discipline them. Rather than have your child deal with long lasting depression, suicidal thoughts and buried anger and bitterness.
And then of course there is your spiritual life… ignore that at your own peril.
Ignore that small tiny voice inside you
Ignore doing Gods word
Ignore praying, reading scripture and attending worship on a regular basis.
Fail to deal with these and watch your life crumble… or deal with them head on, destroy them and live in Gods victory for yourself and your family and your future.
