1 Samuel 19
18 When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there. 19 Word came to Saul: “David is in Naioth at Ramah”; 20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men, and they also prophesied. 21 Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied. 22 Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?”
“Over in Naioth at Ramah,” they said.
23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth. 24 He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Saul is the King, the authority of the land,
He is moved by God, he is prophesying, he is in a sense slain under the spirit, he is immobilized by God moving, and Saul’s spirit is obviously receptive to God…
All powerful, all authority and being moved on by God… but his mind, soul, body was still set on killing David.
Don’t trust the person just because they seem spiritual… good word today to single women who meet quote un quote Godly men and only want what they want using their spiritual pseudo mumbo jumbo to blind women. But even if you are a man and there are so called spiritual people who have ill will, ill intention for you- we see something really unique in this story. Chapter 20 goes on to show that God puts David in the midst of those who would show him favor and protect him from the enemy… wether it was the twisted king or the phillistines or any other enemy.
David finds favor from Jonathan… the kings very own son
From other men who were rejects from society, and even wanted for crimes they did not commit, the down and out and prophets… not just Samuel.
God surrounds David with the weirdest band of people to protect him, keep him, inform him and make sure that Gods will does in fact take place in Davids life.
What do we learn from this… well David was after Gods heart, he wanted to serve God, he wanted Gods will to be done and he honored King Saul never lifting a finger to harm him. And God will have his way in his life because of it. He does it in the strangest way.
maybe you are in a odd spot, surrounded by people who seemingly can’t really help you out, but because you want what God wants he redeems those around you, the relationships in your circle and network and he uses them in surreal ways to bring his will to fruition in your life. Don’t look at where you are at and judge what God wants to do by your surroundings, by the people in your life… simply trust that God wants to do more, he wants to do his will in your life… and push into him and watch what happens.
Its easy to think “how will this ever work out”
But instead learn to say
“I can’t wait to see how this will work out”
Hey Gods got this, let him in and let him do what he does best… the amazing!
