Everyone likes affirmation, but what we need is validation. You can be told your a good driver (wether you are or are not) but validation comes from authority. You get a drivers license and you are now validated. It doesn’t matter if your neighbor, friend, teacher, boss or even parent thinks you are a bad driver… you have been validated by THE authority… the DMV.
Every movement in the world today clamors for validation (BLM, LGBQT, Feminism, global warming pick a topic - pick a soap box etc…) Many get affirmation… from politicians, a whole lot from the media and entertainment… but affirmation falls short of what they really want and really need. And when affirmation seems to fall short and they never truly get what matters - that is the fathers validation they then roar against those who do not affirm them and even get angry at those who do have the fathers validation.
65% of the the average Black family households have one parent. 25% of White family have only one parent. 45% of hispanic families have one parent.
And the father project reports that even when a father is present in body, many of them are absent in engagement. It is almost worse because the father is there but doesn’t care enough to engage in love, affection, conversation or even in attendance to life moments in the child’s life. In any case there are millions of kids growing up without affirmation, let alone validation.
Obviously its great when you have your fathers affirmation and validation… but what even trumps that is your heavenly fathers validation…
because once you have the fathers validation you don’t care who affirms you.
When Jesus was asked to teach us to pray he said pray like this, “Dear Daddy”
God is our Daddy, Daddy validated his love for us because well he is THEE authority and he also gave us the ultimate license… it was Christ on the cross. You know when you get pulled over you show your valid drivers license…. well when any doubt comes into your mind wether or not god loves you (i.e. your Daddy) just pull out Jesus on the cross… yea, here’s my validation. He put his son on the cross to show me how much he loves me.
When you want to really up your game in the daddy validation department just start reading scripture in the New Testament and replace Gods name with Daddy.
Romans 8:31 If God be fore us who can stand against us. If Daddy is for me, who can be against us.
John 3:16 For Daddy loved me so much that he gave his one and only son to die for my sins.
1 Cor. 3:16 Do you not know you are Daddy’s temple and the spirit of Daddy dwells inside you.
1 John 4:16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him
Ok, I think you get it. So now act like it. I can honestly say that I never actually had a problem with peer pressure growing up. I was never tempted to do drugs, drink, party etc… the simple fact was that I knew my parents loved me and for some reason it just was more than enough to allow me to say no to stupid things. Now 50 plus years later I can say the same thing about how Gods love works in my life… he is my Daddy. Im good with that and what anyone else thinks doesn’t add or detract from that validation.
