A lot of stories in the book of Daniel… food, lions, fires, beheading, Idols, end times… But if you have to title the book of Daniel… as in pick a theme or a title… it would be easy for me…. It would be called 73 seconds.
73 seconds…
The Space shuttle had a 99.9999 perfection in its running parts. NEAR TOTAL PERFECTION.
But in just 73 seconds due to the compromise of an O ring .0001 it imploded and millions watched 7 people die.
Daniel is about NO COMPROMISE.
NO COMPROMISE. Sermon, how did they overcome? They overcame by no compromise in any area for any reason and for anyone! As soon as you compromise even slightly, you have already lost for the slide slowly, but the end is destruction.
HOW?
Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank;
HE WAS 15 WHEN HE SAID THIS!!!!!
WHAT DOES DEFILE ACTUALLY MEAN - simply live according to the culture. It was completely acceptable for everyone to live that way in Babylon.
One of my favorite quotes: if you want to be really successful, true successful… study people, watch them, at work at home, at church, at the mall…
AND THEN DO THE OPPOSITE!

Purposed = Set aside… appoint as to bring notice to! NOT ONLY WILL I MAKE A DECISION TO FOLLOW GOD - I WILL MAKE IT STAND OUT… IT WILL BE FOR RELIGIOUS PURPOSES!
*If I might add as one of the biggest problems in todays Christians is they do not live any differently than the world.
Sex, selfishness, jealousy, bitterness, excuses, work ethic, self centeredness… Christians don’t stand out much any more.
